Chapter 480 She Does Not Know Zephyr
Nora didn't take Emma's cold attitude to heart, nodded, and said, "Rest well, don't keep the doors and windows closed all the time, ventilate appropriately. I'll go now."
Watching her leave the bedroom, Emma sighed in relief and quickly grabbed her phone to call Chloe.
The call was quickly answered. Chloe's gentle voice came through the line.
Chloe greeted her over the phone, "Emma."
The sound of her calling made Emma's eyes moisten.
"Chloe, are you awake?" Emma asked.
"Yes, I'll come see you tomorrow," Chloe said.
Emma wiped away her tears and smiled. "That's Good. We haven't had a chance to talk privately in a long time. We can catch up tomorrow," Emma agreed.
"Sounds good," Chloe said.
Downstairs, Nora was about to leave, but Sandy walked her to the door and bumped into Suzy on the way back.
"Suzy," Sandy politely greeted.
"Hello," Suzy responded indifferently, glancing at Nora and coldly walking past her.
Nora didn't mind and said goodbye to Sandy before leaving.
After the door closed, Suzy looked at Sandy, who was walking toward her, and suddenly asked, "Does Zephyr like you?"
Hearing this, Sandy's heart skipped a beat, but she still pretended to be calm.
"No, not at all," Sandy replied.
"Really? But I feel like he looks at you like a lover?" Suzy implied, intriguingly.
Suzy stared at Sandy. "Sandy, how did you meet him? Were you two ex-lovers?" she probed.
Her assistant hadn't yet found any information related to Zephyr, so she wanted to test Sandy first.
"No, I didn't know him before," Sandy denied.
Suzy didn't quite believe it. "Is that so? But his gaze at you doesn't look like he doesn't know you," she pressed.
Sandy paused, and said, "He mistook me for his ex-girlfriend. He thought I looked like her."
Since Suzy already knew about Cora, Sandy decided to use her as an excuse to avoid further questioning.
Curiously, Suzy asked, "What was his ex-girlfriend's name? Was it Cora?"
Sandy nodded.
"Do you look very similar to Cora?" Suzy asked.
Sandy curled her fingers. "I suppose," she replied.
Suzy squinted her eyes and asked again, "But why did I hear him say that you are Cora?"
Surprised, Sandy wondered, 'She heard? When did she hear?'
Avoiding eye contact, Sandy steadied her emotions and said, "He was talking nonsense. He must be delusional. My stomach is a bit uncomfortable; I'll go upstairs first."
Watching her hastily go upstairs, Suzy pondered, 'Does she truly not know Zephyr? Then why is she panicking?'
Back at the villa, Nora found the house empty. Adelbert's people had taken all four children to the Hamilton Manor.
She found it quite interesting.
Since meeting Aaron, she hadn't had a chance to be alone with the children whom Jacob or Ebenezer took.
Being a mother, she found herself becoming more relaxed.
Nora smiled and checked the time, wondering if she should go and pick up the four children.
Just then, her phone rang with a video call request from Alex.
She quickly answered and saw Alex's face on the screen. "Alex," she greeted him.
"Mommy, where are you?" Alex asked.
"I just got home, what's up?" Nora replied.
"Great-Grandpa wants you to come for dinner," Alex said.
Nora hesitated. It wasn't that she didn't want to go, but Adelbert and Flora were too enthusiastic, and she found it a bit overwhelming. Deep down, she was quite socially anxious. Apart from work, she mostly enjoyed being at home, reading books, and studying medicine.
"Nora, quickly have Frederick take you over here. We've prepared some home-cooked dishes, so come and taste them," Adelbert said. A smiling face appeared on the screen.
Nora couldn't refuse, so she let Frederick take her to the Hamilton Manor, which was located halfway up the east side of the city. The house was very large, and the interior decoration resembled a garden with artificial mountains, fountains, and parks.
Today, they weren't entertaining anyone else; only Adelbert, Flora, and Ebenezer were there.
Upon seeing her and Frederick, they were very enthusiastic, inviting Nora to sit down and have some fruit and coffee.
Nora smiled and thanked them, sitting on the sofa to chat with Flora. Adelbert intentionally made a video call to Jacob in front of Nora.
As soon as the call connected, he said, "Jacob, have you had dinner?" Jacob's tone was harsh as he replied, "Not yet, why?"
"Nothing, I'm just checking up on you," Adelbert said, turning to Alex and the others and saying, "Kids, come say hi to Great-Grandfather Gordon."
The four children walked over and greeted Jacob through the camera.
When Jacob saw their smiling faces, his expression softened, and he spoke gently to them.
Nora looked at Adelbert's smug expression and found it amusing. The competitiveness between old people was truly terrifying.
"Nora, come over and say hi to Jacob," Adelbert clearly had no intention of letting go of this opportunity to show off.
Nora chuckled and walked over to greet Jacob through the camera. Jacob's facial expression kept changing. "Nora, you're here too?" he asked, surprised.
Before Nora could say anything, Adelbert jumped in, "Of course, my Granddaughter is staying here tonight with a few other kids."
Helplessly, Nora thought to herself, 'I don't remember agreeing to this.'
Seeing Adelbert's smug expression, Jacob couldn't bear to look at him. But he quickly changed the topic, and said, "That's only fair. It's not right for Nora and the kids to be at Aaron's place every day. They should spend time with you too. After all, once Nora marries Aaron, they won't have time for you guys anymore."
Adelbert's smugness vanished instantly. "Jacob, I haven't said I would let Nora marry that rotten kid of yours. You better not anger me," he warned, irritation was evident in his tone.
This time, Jacob felt victorious. "They like each other. Do you really want to break them up?" he asked.
"If I didn't see how sincere Aaron is toward Nora, I would never allow her to marry him," Adelbert replied, feigning stubbornness.
Listening to their argument, Nora felt warm and amused.
Just then, her phone rang. It was Aaron.
Nora walked to the side to answer. "Hello?" she answered.
"Are you at the Hamilton Manor?" Aaron asked.
"How did you know?" Nora replied.
"Because I'm at my Grandfather's place," he replied.
Aaron had overheard their conversation just now.
Nora smiled and asked, "Are you staying at the Hamilton Manor tonight?"
Nora glanced at Adelbert, who seemed to be in good spirits. She felt a little helpless. "It seems like I can't refuse," she replied.
