Chapter 682 The Female Cop Looks Familiar

The phone was on speaker, and Aria's desperate yet excited voice echoed in the air.

Everyone around listened quietly, their eyes filled with sympathy for Aria and blame for Ernest.

As a woman, Sandy also felt sympathy for Aria.

Domestic violence happened either zero times or countless times.

How desperate Aria had been for that five years!

Even if Aria didn't get plastic surgery, it wouldn't be long before she reached her breaking point and eventually filed for divorce!

Sandy's gaze fell on Ernest, watching for his reaction.

Ernest's face changed colors, and he angrily shouted, "Aria Diaz, you better get back here right now! If you don't come back, do you believe I'll kill your whole family?"

There was a moment of silence on the phone, and then Aria hung up directly.

It was clear that Aria refused to communicate with Ernest.

Probably because she felt it was impossible to talk to him.

Ernest's eyes widened in anger, and he pointed a knife at Sandy, saying, "Keep calling her! You keep calling her!"

Sandy looked at him. "Ernest, even if I call her now, she won't answer. She's scared of you. You make her too afraid to come back."

Ernest's chest heaved as he shouted, "Why is she scared of me?"

Sandy said, "You should remember what you just said. You threatened to kill her whole family. How would she dare to come back?"

"That is merely a stern admonition for her!"Ernest retorted.

Sandy peppered him with a probing stare, elongating the time.

"So, you still harbor deep affection for her?" she queried.

"Undoubtedly." Ernest responded, "I know it was wrong to hurt her when I got drunk, but I love her. I've apologized, and it was nothing serious. She has forgiven me."

Sandy's tolerance for his statements dwindled.

Furrowing her brow, she made a metaphor.

"Dear sir, If I succumbed to the influence of alcohol and thus inflicted significant harm to you. Then, in the aftermath, seek your forgiveness. Would your reaction be one of grace and forgiveness or an irrepressible fury?"

Ernest was at a loss for words, his eyes flickering.

People around were pointing at him, their faces full of disdain.

Ernest, humiliated and furious, shouted, "You're changing the subject! Before Aria had plastic surgery, even if I hit her, she endured it and never really thought about divorcing me!"

"But now that Aria has become beautiful, she thinks she's something special, that she has the capital to attract men, and insists on divorcing me, even ignoring her parents."

"This is all your damn hospital's fault! Call Aria right now. If she doesn't come back today, I'll kill you first to let out my anger!"

Crazy man.

Ernest was simply unreasonable!

Sandy looked at him, speechless for a moment.

At this time, the police, who had received the emergency call, finally arrived.

Several plainclothes officers rushed in.

The leader of the police spoke up.

"We are police! You are surrounded. Put down the knife, and don't hurt anyone!"

The voice was female.

Instinctively, Nora and the others turned their gaze towards the source of the voice, and when they saw the woman holding the gun, they were stunned.

This female cop looked familiar!

It was Jane, the woman they had saved in the fishing village before!

Nora's eyes widened in surprise.

She never expected Jane to be a cop.

At that time, Zephyr even said Jane looked like a gang leader!

Unexpectedly, not only was she not a gangster, but she was also quite the opposite!

Jane glanced at the three of them and recognized them as well.

Her gaze lingered on them briefly before moving away.

Her stern and pretty face exuded a sense of calm and steadiness.

The hand holding the gun was steadily pointed at Ernest, her eyes sharp as a hawk.

Seeing the police arrive, Ernest became even more agitated.

"Don't come any closer, or I'll kill whoever does!"

He waved the knife around wildly.

The hospital security personnel and police hesitated to approach Ernest, fearing they might provoke him and cause harm to innocent people.

At this moment, Lori, clutching her injured arm, had already taken advantage of Ernest's distraction to hide in a corner.

Nora and Zephyr quickly shielded Sandy and retreated.

Ernest's eyes suddenly locked onto Sandy, and he shouted angrily, "It's all your fault, you heartless woman! Come here!"

With that, he moved forward to grab Sandy.

"Sandy!"

Nora nervously shielded Sandy behind her.

Zephyr's eyes narrowed, and he quickly stepped in front of them, kicking out with his leg.

Unexpectedly, Ernest agilely dodged.

He then lunged at Zephyr, grabbing his arm and using him as a shield.

Ernest pressed the knife against Zephyr's neck.

"Everyone back off, or I'll kill him!"

Zephyr felt a sharp pain in his neck as Ernest pressed the knife deeper.

Zephyr frowned and instinctively leaned back, his Adam's apple bobbing.

His gaze fell on Sandy, and he felt a sense of relief.

At least Ernest hadn't taken her as a hostage!

Everyone around gasped, and Sandy and Nora's eyes were full of anxiety.

"Ernest, don't do anything wrong. Calm down," Nora said.

"Ernest, he's innocent. Don't hurt him. I'll contact Aria Diaz right away!"

Sandy quickly spoke up.

Hearing this, Ernest shouted, "Call her! Call her right now! I want to see her immediately!"

"Okay, I'll call her right now."

Sandy picked up her phone and dialed Aria's number.

Jane, with a tense face, gripped her gun tightly and whispered to her colleagues to quietly disperse the crowd.

The officers nodded in understanding and began to discreetly move the onlookers away.

Ernest was entirely focused on Sandy's call and demanded she put it on speaker.

Sandy complied and turned on the speaker.

The call went through, but Aria didn't answer, and the call eventually disconnected.

Ernest became agitated. "Use another phone! Hurry up and use another phone!"

In his agitation, he pressed the knife deeper into Zephyr's neck.

Fresh blood began to seep out again.

Sandy's heart tightened, and she quickly said, "Don't get agitated. Be careful not to hurt him!"

Zephyr looked at her, and seeing her worried expression, his eyes softened.

"Call her now!" the man shouted.

"Okay,! Nora." Sandy looked at Nora.

Nora understood and took out her phone to call Aria.

But Aria, probably guessing the call was related to Ernest, still didn't answer.

Ernest started to become frantic.

"Why isn't she answering? Why isn't Aria answering?"

Jane, still aiming her gun at Ernest, slowly moved to Sandy's side.

She whispered, "Find a way to calm him down."

Only if Ernest calmed down could she find an opportunity to rescue Zephyr.

Sandy took a deep breath and said, "Aria isn't answering because she's scared of you. Sir, you really need to think about your actions. A good man never hits a woman. And if you love her, you definitely shouldn't hit her."
