Chapter 580 He Really Likes Evella

Howard ordered a few dishes and handed the menu to Aaron.

Aaron added dishes that Nora liked to eat.

"Mr. Rogers, do you drink?" he asked.

Richard said, "Sure."

"Then let me have a drink with you."

"Okay."

Aaron ordered two bottles of wine.

Howard asked, "Mr. Rogers, are you here in Lindwood City this time to treat your mother's illness?"

Richard raised his cup and glanced at Evella, replying, "Besides that, I have something else to do."

Howard said, "What is it? If you need help, just say."

Richard said with a smile, "Thanks, but I can handle it myself."

Howard didn't ask further.

The servers started serving dishes one after another. The three men chatted about domestic and international news while the two women ate and listened to their conversation.

Halfway through the meal, Evella received a call from home. She went to a distant place to answer the phone.

Richard's eyes flickered slightly, and he put down his knife and fork.

He said, "Sorry, I need to go to the restroom."

He walked towards the bathroom.

Evella was answering Maisie's call, "Grandma."

"Evella, are you having dinner with Howard from the Hamilton family?" Maisie asked.

"How did you know?"

"Both you and Howard are in the news, so I definitely know."

Thinking of today's events, Evella felt a bit helpless because she had been mentioned in today’s headlines, too. She just wanted to live a low-key life and didn't want every move to be exposed to the spotlight.

"Howard is indeed a good boy. I have a good eye for people, right?" Maisie sounded a bit proud in her laughter.

Evella praised her, "Of course. You are the best."

Maisie said, "You two get along well. I will discuss with the Hamilton family and set the date for your wedding."

Evella felt nervous, saying, "Grandma, there's no rush for this."

Maisie said, "Why not? Howard is now a celebrity. Many women want to marry him. We must make sure he won’t be snatched by others."

Evella hesitated and said, "Grandma, he should propose first. If we rush this, the Hamilton family might think I'm eager to get married, which would be embarrassing."

She just wanted to delay the wedding and not rush into it so soon.

Maisie said, "You're right. The Hamilton family has been making excuses before, making it seem like The Remington family is trying to please them."

Evella felt relieved, saying, "Exactly."

"Alright, take your time to date," Maisie added, "You should make sure Howard won't marry anyone else but you, do you know?"

"I know!" Evella agreed verbally, but in her heart, she didn't want that. If it was not meant to be, she couldn't force it.

After hanging up, she turned around and saw Richard standing behind her.

Evella was startled and patted her chest, saying, "It's you, Mr. Rogers."

Richard said with a smile, "Did I startle you?"

"It's okay," Evella said.

Richard glanced at the top of her head and said, "Ms. Remington, there seems to be something on your head."

Evella was puzzled, asking, "What is it?"

Richard said, "Let me take it off for you."

Without waiting for Evella's response, he reached out to take it.

Evella felt a slight pain on her scalp.

After that, she touched her hair, asking, "What was on my head?"

Richard opened his hand, saying, "It's white cotton."

"It must have drifted in from outside," Evella said.

Richard nodded. "It definitely didn't walk over."

Evella laughed and said, "Mr. Rogers, you're really funny."

Richard said with a smile, "I like to hear some good jokes."

"I usually like to read some funny stories, too. Where do you usually read them?" Evella asked.

Richard said, "I read them everywhere."

Howard got up to answer his assistant's call and casually saw Evella laughing and chatting with Richard.

Richard's eyes showed affection as he talked to her.

Howard narrowed his eyes, declined the call, and walked over to Evella, pulling her into a hug.

He asked, "What are you and Mr. Rogers talking about? You seem to be having a good time."

Evella seemed accustomed to Howard's hugs now.

She said, "We're just chatting casually."

"Did you finish your call?"

"Yes."

"Who called?"

"My grandma."

Howard's eyes softened as he tidied her hair by her ear.

He asked, "Is Ms. Remington particularly eager for me to marry you soon?"

There was a hint of tenderness in his eyes.

Evella blinked, saying, "My grandma wants me to finish dinner and come home early."

After saying that, she pushed Howard away and quickly walked back to the dining table.

Howard watched her sit down.

Turning his head, he saw Richard also looking at Evella's figure.

The smile on Howard's face faded slightly.

He asked, "Mr. Rogers, you're probably married, right?"

Richard came back to his senses, replying, "Not yet."

Howard raised an eyebrow, saying, "You're not young anymore. Is there something wrong preventing you from getting married?"

He asked somewhat impolitely.

Richard glanced at him, saying, "No. I've been busy with my career and haven't found the right person to marry."

"What kind of person do you like? Do you need my help?" Howard asked.

Richard understood the caution in Howard's eyes and deliberately said, "I like girls who love poetry, with a playful and lively personality."

Evella, she fit this description to perfection.

He really liked Evella.

Howard's expression turned sour.

He said, "Mr. Rogers, although you've helped me, Evella is my girlfriend. I hope you won't pursue her."

Richard chuckled and said, "Ms. Remington is just your girlfriend; you're not married yet. Anyone has the right to pursue her, right?"

Howard sized him up and said, "Mr. Rogers, you're around thirty-five, right? If you were a few years older, you could be Evella's father."

Richard laughed and said, "How do you know Ms. Remington doesn't like older men? Older men will make people feel more secure."
