Chapter 968 She Was Simply a Witch
Mateo, nearby, laughed when he saw Nora warn Zachary.
He kicked Zachary. "You're lucky to see the miracle doctor in action. Nora, show me another trick."
Nora raised an eyebrow. "What do you want to see?"
Mateo grinned. "Make him feel excruciating pain but unable to scream."
Nora's eyes sparkled. "Like ants gnawing at his heart, bit by bit. How about that?"
"Perfect."
They played along, scaring Zachary until he turned pale and shook his head frantically.
Seeing it was working, Nora asked, "Don't you want to try that feeling?"
Zachary shook his head desperately.
Nora teased, "Does shaking your head mean yes or no?"
Zachary mouthed, "No, I don't want it."
"Ready to tell the truth now?" Nora asked.
Zachary hesitated.
Nora saw his struggle and just smiled, pulling out two more needles and inserting them into specific points.
Zachary's pupils contracted, and he opened his mouth wide, wanting to scream but unable to.
His face grew paler.
"Think again, ready to tell the truth now?"
Nora smiled gently, looking harmless.
But to Zachary, she seemed like a tiger ready to devour him.
It felt like countless ants were biting his heart.
The pain was unbearable.
He wished he could bash his head in to end it.
Zachary's face twisted in agony, and he nodded desperately.
Nora, satisfied, pulled out the needles.
"Alright, speak."
Zachary swallowed and tried to talk.
He could speak again.
This Nora wasn't a doctor; she was a witch!
Fear flashed in Zachary's eyes, and he didn't dare to hide anything.
"Someone told me to do it."
Nora raised an eyebrow. "Who?"
Zachary shook his head. "I don't know his name, just that he's around thirty. Calvin was my relative, and the other deceased was from our village."
"A few days ago, I lost a lot of money at the casino. This guy approached me, said he'd pay off my debts if I incited my relatives to cause trouble at the factory."
"I don't have a steady job and was worried about the money, so I took the deal and stirred up trouble."
Nora and Mateo exchanged a glance.
Mateo squinted. "Are you telling the truth?"
"Absolutely!"
Zachary quickly said, "I don't want to feel that pain again."
Nora looked at him. "Can you describe the guy who paid you?"
Zachary thought. "He's about 5 feet tall, not fat or thin, with a hoarse voice. Oh, and he has a big black mole on his ear."
Nora listened. "Anything else?"
"No, that's all I know," Zachary said quickly.
Nora nodded and took out another needle.
Zachary's eyes widened in fear. "I've told you everything, believe me!"
Again?
He was so scared he almost wet himself!
Nora chuckled. "Relax, this time I'm just treating your bad breath!"
Talking to Zachary was unbearable because of the smell!
Zachary was speechless. In his thirty years, he had never felt so embarrassed!
In the conference room, Aaron said to Wyatt, "Mr. Reid, I'm very sorry about Calvin. But I can assure you, the Gordon Group would never do something so awful."
"If there's anything suspicious about Calvin's death, it must have been someone trying to ruin our reputation."
"I'll have Calvin's death re-investigated and give you an explanation. We won't let him die in vain."
Wyatt wasn't convinced. "Mr. Gordon, how do I know you're not just trying to brush us off? Are you planning to silence us, like with Calvin?"
Aaron didn't rush to defend himself. He glanced at Johnnie. "Go check on Frederick."
If Frederick got anything out of Zachary, they could confront Wyatt with it.
Johnnie was about to leave when the conference room door opened. Nora walked in, followed by Zachary.
Aaron quickly stood up. "Are you done over there?"
He thought Nora was just treating the injured, not knowing she had solved a big problem for him.
"Yes." Nora smiled and sat on the sofa. "Where were you in the conversation?"
Aaron glanced at Wyatt. "Not very pleasant. Mr. Reid still doesn't believe us. He thinks we killed Calvin."
Nora looked at Zachary. "He has something to say. Let him explain."
Zachary glanced at Wyatt, feeling guilty. "Wyatt, this has nothing to do with them. I was bribed. Someone paid me to incite you to cause trouble at the factory."
"What?" Wyatt stood up abruptly. He walked up to Zachary and saw his bruised face, feeling suspicious. "Zachary, don't be afraid. Did they force you to confess?"
"No, Wyatt, I'm telling the truth. I lost a lot of money gambling, and someone found me, asking me to do something for him in exchange for paying off my debts, so I agreed."
Zachary was terrified of Nora and didn't dare to lie.
Wyatt was shocked and angry, pointing at Zachary but unable to speak.
Aaron smiled. "Mr. Reid, you heard it. Someone is manipulating this. You don't want to be used, right?"
Wyatt's nose twitched, and he burst into tears. He grabbed Zachary by the collar. "Who killed Calvin? Who approached you? Speak up!"
"I don't know him. I've already told Mrs. Gordon his characteristics," Zachary quickly said.
Wyatt looked at Nora, who nodded, indicating he was telling the truth.
Wyatt let go of Zachary, tears streaming down his face. "How could they be so cruel? Calvin was killed by them just like that?"
Aaron: "Mr. Reid, as I said, I'll have Calvin's death re-investigated. We'll find the real culprit and clear Calvin's name, as well as the Gordon Group's!"
