Chapter 619 She Had Seen It.
Frederick drove Nora to the Whispering Pines Manor.
The house looked empty, and Aaron seemed to be out.
She went upstairs to the master bedroom.
Aaron was indeed not there.
Nora paused, preparing to leave the room.
Just as she was about to close the door, she felt something under her foot.
Nora paused, moved her foot, and then saw what she had stepped on.
It was an earring with a diamond.
Nora bent down and picked up the earring, a hint of confusion in her eyes.
As a doctor, she often had to be in the operating room, so she didn't like to wear these accessories normally.
She would match her clothes with some jewelry only when she were attending a banquet or a party.
Of course, she didn't wear them, but Emma had bought her many pieces of jewelry.
But this earring, Nora seemed to have never seen it before, and she had never worn earrings here.
So this earring shouldn't be hers.
But if it's not hers, how did this earring end up here?
Nora pinched the earring, her fingers tightening little by little.
There was a lady's earring in Aaron's place which meant that besides her, another woman had been there.
Did Aaron cheat on her? No, that was impossible!
Aaron was not that kind of person!
Or maybe the earring belonged to a maid. But that was not right; there were no maids here, only a cook and housekeeper, Louis Turner.
She was already in her forties and wouldn't wear earrings like those worn by young women.
Nora's thoughts were adrift, a sense of unease nestling within her chest.
She resisted the idea of perceiving Aaron in such a light, yet the earring was suspicious.
She closed the bedroom door and descended the stairs like a wandering soul.
"Ms. Smith, you're here." The maid, Louis, in her forties, was cleaning.
There was laundry being washed in the laundry room.
Nora glanced at Louis's ears subconsciously. Louis had a pair of gold earrings on her slightly chubby ears.
She remembered that Louis always wore gold earrings, so the earring with the diamond couldn't possibly be hers.
Nora curled her fingers slightly, realizing that she hadn't been back here for the past few days. So she asked, "Louis, I just wanted to ask, has Aaron brought any friends back these past few days?"
Louis looked puzzled, saying, "I'm not sure; my sister fell and was hospitalized the day before yesterday, so I've been taking care of her at the hospital these past few nights and haven't been staying here."
Nora didn't know whether to feel relieved or disappointed.
She said with a smile, "Got it, I was just asking casually, you can continue with your work."
"Okay," Louis replied and continued cleaning.
At that moment, the washing machine in the laundry room stopped.
Nora hesitated and asked, "Louis, the bed sheets and covers were just changed a few days ago; why were they changed again?"
Louis replied quickly, "I didn't change them; when I came this morning, the bed sheets and covers were already in the laundry room."
If it wasn't Louis who changed them, then it must have been Aaron!
Nora's fingers tightened suddenly.
Aaron changed the recently changed bed sheets and covers again.
It must have been because they got dirty.
Why did the bed sheets and covers get dirty?
Was it because of Aaron or something else?
Combined with the lady's earring just now, Nora's heart felt a pang of unease.
She took a deep breath, trying to calm herself down and not overthink.
Aaron was not that kind of person; it must have been just a coincidence.
At that moment, her phone rang; it was from Aaron.
Nora swallowed and answered the phone, "Hello?"
"Nora, did you just call me?" The male voice on the phone was magnetic.
Nora responded and asked, "Where are you?"
"At the office, what happened?"
"Nothing, just checking in. Don't overwork yourself, and don't drink too much."
Nora was quite impressed with herself.
At this moment, she could still talk to Aaron calmly without questioning him directly.
Perhaps this was a sign of a woman's maturity.
"You are such a good woman," Aaron praised her, but Nora had no feeling.
Nora tightened her grip on the phone and said casually, "By the way, I just returned to your place and found that your bed sheets and covers were all changed. They were just changed recently, why were they changed again?"
Upon hearing this, Aaron fell silent for a moment and said, "Isn't it because of you?"
Nora was taken aback, asking, "Because of me?"
"Yes, these past few days, you haven't been feeling well. I had a bit to drink, missed you too much, and that's why the bed sheets got dirty." Aaron's explanation sounded reasonable.
Normally, Aaron had strong needs, and if he was really pent up, he might leave a mess.
But that couldn't explain the lady's earring.
Nora opened her mouth, feeling the urge to ask Aaron something, but she held back.
"Alright, let's not dwell on it, you're busy, take care of yourself," she said.
Even if she asked if Aaron was really cheating, he wouldn't tell her the truth.
So it was better not to ask.
Nora wasn't in the mood for banter with Aaron, so she hung up the phone after speaking.
She stood there blankly for a moment, then turned and walked out, thinking about the earring.
Suddenly, something flashed in her mind, she paused, and quickly took out the earring from her pocket.
She remembered that she had seen this earring before.
She had seen it!
The music teacher Margaret, when she came to teach Samantha to sing the day before yesterday, she was wearing this earring.
With this realization, Nora's heart tightened slightly.
This earring belonged to Margaret.
How did it end up here, and why had Margaret been here these past few days?
Why did she come here?
A series of suspicions made Nora's heart sink deeper and deeper.
She hadn't been staying here these few days, and if Margaret had been here, a man and a woman alone together, with no one else around...
Nora furrowed her brows, her face ashened.
It might be as she feared; no, it couldn't be!
Aaron wouldn't do that to her!
But how did she explain this earring?
Perhaps she was overthinking it.
This earring wasn't Margaret's!
Nora felt like she was on the verge of a breakdown.
She wanted to rush to Margaret and ask her immediately if the earring was hers.
The restless emotions made her restless all day.
By the evening, she went to the Gordon Manor.
In the music room, Margaret had just arrived and was preparing for her lesson.
Nora, holding a fruit tray, opened the door gently and walked in.
"Mommy," Samantha saw Nora and called out cheerfully.
Nora smiled, touched her soft hair, and then looked at Margaret.
Margaret still had a ladylike appearance. Her long, wavy hair draped over her shoulders, her red lips painted with beautiful lipstick, and her face adorned with exquisite makeup. She looked stunning.
Nora's gaze unconsciously fell on her ears.
Margaret was wearing a pair of pearl earrings today, which set off her fair skin beautifully.
