Chapter 150 Treatment Begins

Aaron's dark eyes narrowed as he studied Nora, disbelief etching his features. ‘Is she truly intending to observe and learn from this?’ He wondered, his gaze hardening on her. "Nora, are you using me as a test subject?"

A mocking smile tugged at the corners of Nora's lips, her amusement evident. "Mr. Gordon, do you doubt Sunny's medical expertise? Even if she were to err, consider it a sacrifice in the name of love."

Aaron was taken aback, rendered speechless by her audacity.

Beside them, Mary's brow furrowed in concern. "Nora, don't tempt fate with Aaron's health! Sunny, why are you standing there? Help Aaron upstairs for his treatment!"

Sunny, more than eager to comply, approached Aaron with a soft voice. "Mr. Gordon, allow me to assist you.

"Aaron's icy gaze met hers, causing her to hesitate. Her outstretched hand hung in the air, frozen in uncertainty.

"Noe," Aaron called out, his voice echoing in the room. Noe promptly came to his aid.

As he rose from his wheelchair, Aaron shot Nora another look. Her expression was cold and detached, as if she had made a conscious decision not to assist him. 'Does she not care for my safety? What a heartless woman,' Aaron thought, his lips thinning in displeasure. With Noe's help, he made his way upstairs, the others trailing behind.

Nora made to follow, but was halted by Suzy. "Nora, your presence is no longer required here. You may leave," Suzy declared.

Nora glanced at her dismissively. "But Mr. Gordon requested my observation and learning."

Without waiting for Suzy's response, Nora brushed past her and ascended the stairs. Suzy watched her retreating figure, a cold smile playing on her lips and a flicker of dark intent in her eyes. ‘She'll soon learn she's not welcome here,’ she thought.

Once upstairs, Aaron retreated to the bathroom to freshen up. Meanwhile, Sunny began preparing her acupuncture tools for the treatment. Nora stood nearby, eyeing the array of instruments. "Sunny, where do you plan to insert the needles for a patient with Mr. Gordon's condition?" she inquired.

As Sunny recited the list of points, a spark of interest ignited in Nora's eyes. "Is that all? Do you have any other treatment plans?" she pressed. She found it hard to believe that a doctor capable of producing an academic report like Sunny's would limit herself to conventional treatments.

Sunny's eyes darted around nervously under Nora's penetrating gaze. "Of course, there are other treatment approaches, Nora. But the one I’ve outlined is the most effective for leg conditions. Considering Mr. Gordon's reputation, I can't risk any mistakes," she explained, her argument seeming airtight.

Nora's curiosity was piqued. "So let me ask you this: if there's a patient with brain cancer who's also paraplegic, how would you address that?" she asked, her tone challenging. She knew she was pushing Sunny's limits. Despite Sunny's medical school education, her knowledge was still rudimentary when it came to complex and rare illnesses.

Sunny's eyes flickered with panic, but she quickly regained her composure. "One could utilize a combination of acupuncture techniques intended for treating brain cancer with those designed for paralysis," she answered vaguely.

Nora fixed her gaze on Sunny. "How exactly would you combine them? Sunny, anyone trained in acupuncture knows that treating multiple conditions in a patient simultaneously means certain points can't always be needled, right?" she pressed.

Sunny's eyes glinted as she smiled at Nora. "Without an actual case in front of me, it's quite difficult to propose a detailed plan," she deflected.

Nora arched an eyebrow. "Is it difficult, or is it impossible? Sunny, you're the expert who can draft a detailed report on late-stage brain cancer treatments using acupuncture. The case I mentioned should be a walk in the park for you, right?" she countered.

Sunny was at a loss for words, struggling to craft a believable retort.

Howard, who had been listening intently, eyed Sunny with a twinge of skepticism. 'Nora's point isn't without merit. Why can't Sunny answer?'

"Nora, please don't be so confrontational. Sunny is here to treat Aaron's leg injury, and it’s only natural that she’s fully focused on that. It’s unreasonable to expect her to have elaborate solutions for everything else on the spot," Suzy interjected, stepping in at just the right moment to provide cover for Sunny.

Sunny exhaled in relief and nodded in agreement. "Seriously, Nora? What kind of trouble are you stirring up here? Are you doing this on purpose just to mess with Sunny's head, hoping she'll mess up the treatment so you get to stay?" Mary accused angrily.

Nora didn't bother defending herself. She had her suspicions. 'It seems that the article Sunny published wasn't actually written by her. But how could she have copied my paper without any direct contact?' she pondered.

Her gaze swept over the Hamilton siblings, her fingers curling slightly. 'Sunny getting her hands on my paper must be linked to the Hamiltons somehow. After all, Howard is the only one who had access. So did Howard tip off Sunny, or did Suzy steal it?' she wondered.

Lost in thought, Nora was jolted back to reality by Aaron's emergence from the bathroom. She instinctively moved to help him, but was outpaced by Suzy and Sunny, who rushed forward to support him from each side. Nora stopped in her tracks, a mocking smile curving her lips. A twinge of jealousy pierced her—Aaron was such a ladies' man.

Aaron, dressed in a black silk robe, looked at the approaching pair. His demeanor was even chillier than before. "Noe, did you get superglue on your feet or something?" he asked, his tone laced with irritation. Noe hurried over to assist Aaron, internally grumbling about his lack of perception. Aaron settled on the couch, his gaze landing on Nora.

Nora stood to the side, her attractive features devoid of any discernible emotion. 'So she's really not going to attend to him, despite him technically still being her superior? Well, if she wishes to merely observe, then so be it,' she thought to herself.

"Mr. Gordon, are you prepared? I'm about to begin," Sunny announced, her voice echoing in the room.

She opened her toolkit, her gaze fixated on the muscular leg of Aaron. Her nerves were palpable, betraying her outward composure.

With a hard swallow, her fingers trembled as they reached for a silver needle, poised to penetrate Aaron's leg.

"Sunny, are you certain you're capable of this?" Aaron questioned, his frown deepening at the sight of the trembling needle held precariously between her fingers.

Already on edge, Sunny's hand jerked at the sound of his voice, causing the needle to nearly clatter to the floor.

Quickly regaining her grip on the needle, she reassured him, "Mr. Gordon, I am capable."

Feeling the tension in the room, Noe cast a glance at Nora, who stood serenely to the side. He sidled over to her, whispering in her ear, "Nora, I believe you should be the one to attend to Mr. Gordon. I fear Sunny might botch the procedure."

Upon hearing his words, Nora raised an eyebrow in surprise, "Don't worry, he can handle it. Even if he endures a poor jab, there's a queue of women ready to nurse him back to health."

Noe was left speechless, unable to formulate a response.
