Chapter 199 Did Grandpa Recognize You?

Upon hearing Jenny's words, a flicker of thought flashed across Nora's eyes.

"Or perhaps, like me, you could maintain a casual relationship with Edric. No commitments, no strings attached," she suggested.

Jenny paused, staring at Nora in disbelief. "Nora, are you implying that you and Aaron are merely toying with each other, devoid of any real emotions?"

The idea was preposterous. Nora found it impossible to separate love from the physical aspect of a relationship.

Brushing a stray lock of hair from her face, Nora clarified, "It's not exactly like that. I'm merely suggesting that you shouldn't invest all your emotions prematurely and rush into marriage."

Jenny blinked, and after a lengthy pause, she voiced her suspicion. "Nora, yesterday Edric informed me that he and Aaron had a wager on who would get married first. Why do I have the impression that you're manipulating me, ensuring that we lose to you?"

Nora fell silent. Jenny had seen through her subtle scheme much faster than she had anticipated!

"That's not the case at all. I'm merely giving you some advice. The decision is ultimately yours," Nora said, tucking away her cunning thoughts and feigning innocence.

Jenny laughed lightly, looping her arm through Nora's. "I'll consider your advice, Nora. Even if you're attempting to trick me, your opinion will always hold precedence for me."

Nora couldn't help but join in the laughter. Seeing Jenny's sweet smile, she wished nothing more than for her friend to always be content.

The group spent the entire day at the resort with the three children, deciding to return home after a pleasant evening meal. Jenny didn't linger at Nora's place any longer, choosing to depart with Edric instead. Nora eyed Edric's smug expression and warned, "Edric, treat Jenny better from now on. Don't tease her, or you'll have to deal with me."

Edric reassured her, draping an arm around Jenny with a serious expression. "Don't worry, she's the one who bullies me."

Jenny glanced at him and gave a shy, sweet smile, feeling a surge of delight within her.

The group parted ways. Noe drove Aaron and Nora back to Nora's villa. After exiting the car, Nora told Aaron, "We're home now. You should head back as well."

Aaron felt a pang of disappointment, as he had hoped to escort Nora back to his place. However, he concealed his feelings, not wanting to upset her. "Mom, let Dad stay with us a little longer," Samantha pleaded with Nora, not wanting Aaron to leave.

Nora was about to respond when Aaron, with a smile, interjected, "I'll go in and say hi to Carter before I head out." If he couldn't take Nora home, spending an extra second with her was still a bonus. "Alright then," Nora agreed, finding it difficult to decline Aaron's offer.

Once inside, they found Carter humming a tune, preparing to retire to his room.

"Grandma, we're back," they called out. Nora greeted her with a smile, and Aaron joined in.

"Everyone's back? Did you have fun?" Carter asked the children, her face crinkling into a warm smile as she bent down to their level. "We did," the children chorused. "That's wonderful," she replied.

Nora didn't dare divulge the minor incident at the resort to her grandmother, not wanting to cause her any unnecessary worry. So, she changed the subject. "Grandma, you must have had a great time today with your friends, right?"

At this, Carter chuckled. "Yes, I met a few more old friends today, and we've even planned to go to a concert tomorrow." It was crucial for the elderly to lead an active life.

Seeing her grandmother finding joy in life so quickly after leaving the rehabilitation center, Nora felt a sense of relief. "Well, you should head to bed early, Grandma."

"Alright, you all rest up too."

"Goodnight, Grandma."

"Goodnight."

After exchanging farewells, Carter retreated to her room.

"Alright, now that the greetings are done, you can leave," Nora told Aaron.

Samantha leaned against him, visibly reluctant to part. "Mom, let Dad stay with us a little longer."

Nora thought to herself, this child is getting too comfortable calling him dad. However, she was too exhausted to correct her anymore. Seeing Samantha rubbing her eyes sleepily, Nora knew it was time for bed. "Behave now. Mr. Gordon has been with us for quite some time. He has a pile of work waiting for him back home." Samantha blinked her eyes and looked at Aaron.

Aaron thought to himself, 'I am indeed busy, but if she agrees, I could stay and be busy here.'

He patted Samantha on the head, "I'll come early tomorrow morning."

Samantha nodded, "Okay, goodnight, dad. Mom, can I sleep with you tonight?" She stretched out her arms, seeking Nora's embrace.

Nora knew Samantha might be feeling troubled, so she picked her up. "Alright, you'll sleep with mom tonight."

Alex and Billy watched with a hint of envy, but as boys, they weren't going to compete with Samantha for affection.

"We're heading upstairs," Nora informed Aaron.

"You take them up. I'll lock up when I leave," Aaron responded.

Nora acknowledged with a nod. The brothers bid him goodnight, and they all ascended the stairs together.

After watching them disappear up the stairs, Aaron prepared to leave.

The driver approached him and said, "Mr. Gordon, today, when I took Carter to the play, I saw Jacob there too."

He had heard rumors that Jacob might not be fond of Nora and felt it necessary to inform Aaron.

Aaron's dark eyes narrowed slightly, "Did Grandpa recognize you?"

"No," the driver replied.

Aaron fell silent for a moment, "How did Grandpa and Carter get along?"

"Very well."

"They were all having a good time with his old buddies, laughing and chatting," the driver added.

Aaron reflected for a moment, "For now, don't let Grandpa know you're working here as a driver."

The time wasn't right yet. He didn't want to stir any unnecessary trouble.

"Okay," the driver agreed.

Upstairs, after tucking in the three children, Nora received a call from Sue.

"Nora, the doctor from my crew is leaving tomorrow. Can you come to the set and help out?"

Hearing this, Nora hesitated, "Sue, I haven't spoken to Jack yet."

She had planned to inform Jack the next day and then head to the set to help.

"It's okay. One day earlier or later, you're going to join us eventually. Better ask for forgiveness than permission," Sue coaxed.

Nora pondered for a moment and then agreed, "Alright."

Tomorrow was her day off, and it wouldn't be too late to let Jack know after she arrived at the set.

The next day.

Nora woke up a little late. By the time she took the three children downstairs, Aaron had already arrived, engaging in a conversation with Carter.

The sunlight streamed through the windows, illuminating his strikingly handsome face. Seeing a good-looking man first thing in the morning wasn't a bad way to start the day.

Nora curved her lips into a smile and released her daughter's hand.
