Chapter 602 Disappeared Again
Nora's face turned pale, as though something heavy had struck her heart.
She asked, "The car suddenly hit the guardrail; how is he now?"
"I'm on my way to the accident site now. The police informed me. I'm not clear about the specific situation yet," Johnnie said.
Nora's hand trembled as she held the phone. She asked, "Why did Aaron go to discuss cooperation alone? Why didn't you go with him?"
Johnnie said, "We were supposed to go together, but I had eaten something spoiled this morning. I had a stomach ache and diarrhea before we left. To save time, Mr. Gordon drove alone to meet the business partner at the agreed Highty City Resort. Unexpectedly, an accident happened on the way."
Nora tightened her grip on the phone and quietly said, "I understand. I will rush to Highty City immediately. Keep it confidential for now; don't spread it."
It involved Gordon's group, and she feared that if news of Aaron's accident spread, it would cause fluctuations in Gordon's group's stocks.
After hanging up, Nora's face remained pale. She swallowed hard, closed her eyes, and tried to calm herself down.
Frederick, in the driver's seat, listened in and asked, "Ms. Smith, did Mr. Gordon have an accident?"
"Yes, I need to rush to Highty City immediately," Nora said a few words to Frederick, then called Ebenezer to prepare a helicopter for her immediately.
Upon hearing about Aaron's accident, Ebenezer was also shocked, comforting Nora quickly and arranging the helicopter.
Highty City was close to Lindwood City, and the plane arrived in forty minutes.
Nora and Frederick got off the plane and headed straight to the accident site.
The accident site was on the coastal highway.
It was a must-pass road to the Highty City Resort in a relatively remote area.
Johnnie had just arrived, his face grave and anxious as he spoke with a police officer.
The police had already cordoned off the car Aaron was in.
"Ms. Smith, you're here." Johnnie hurried to greet Nora as she arrived.
Nora looked at the car, which was now just a burnt-out shell due to the explosion, and asked urgently, "Johnnie, where is Aaron?"
Johnnie shook his head and said, "The police only found the vehicle, but not Mr. Gordon."
In other words, Aaron had disappeared again!
Nora didn't know whether to sigh in relief or not.
If Aaron wasn't here, there was still hope for his survival.
Or perhaps he had been burned to ashes in the car explosion.
No! Aaron had always been lucky.
When he had an accident before and fell off a cliff, he was unharmed. This time, he would surely be safe as well.
But where could Aaron be if he was still alive?
Nora felt like her heart was entwined by countless vines, making it hard to breathe.
Swallowing hard, Nora tried to stay calm and looked around. "Are there any surveillance cameras here?"
If there were cameras, they could know what happened at the time of the incident and whether Aaron was alive or dead.
"This area is remote, with no surveillance cameras," Johnnie said.
No surveillance cameras!
Nora's eyes flashed with disappointment as she asked, "Did the police say why the car suddenly hit the guardrail?"
"Through on-site investigation, the police concluded that the car had a malfunction, lost control while driving, hit the guardrail, and caught fire," Johnnie said.
Nora's heart sank slightly.
The car Aaron was driving was a world-famous luxury car.
However, not long ago, she had heard about similar cars experiencing malfunctions and catching fire while driving.
It was just Aaron's bad luck to encounter such an incident.
"Ms. Smith, should we arrange for people to search for Mr. Gordon immediately?" Johnnie asked.
Nora came back to her senses and nodded.
Johnnie went to the side to make a call for assistance.
Nora looked at the sea below the guardrail, her fingers clenched tightly.
Aaron would be fine. He must be fine.
Closing her eyes, Nora suppressed her panic and called Alex on her phone.
The Jones family had the most powerful intelligence agency, so asking its intelligence agency for help should be faster.
The call didn't go through, and Nora checked the time.
It was past one o'clock, and Alex was probably asleep.
Nora thought for a moment and called Noe instead.
The call connected quickly.
Noe's voice sounded slightly surprised. "Dr. Hamilton?"
Nora got straight to the point, saying, "Noe, is Alex taking a nap?"
Noe replied, "Yes, he's taking a nap."
Nora paused and asked, "Can you mobilize the intelligence agency?"
"I'm currently assisting Alex with his studies, so I still need that authority. Is something wrong?"
"Yes, Aaron had an accident. Wake Alex up and have the intelligence network search for Aaron."
"Okay, I'll go wake Alex up. What happened to Mr. Gordon?"
"He had another accident while on a business trip. The car caught fire, and he hasn't been found yet."
"I see, I'll wake Alex up right away."
"Good."
A moment later, Alex called.
He said, "Mommy, don't worry, I'll have them search for Uncle Aaron's whereabouts."
Nora's nose tingled at Alex's serious tone.
She suppressed her emotions and said, "Let me know as soon as there's any news."
Alex said, "Okay."
After hanging up, Nora stood by the sea, letting the wind mess up her hair. But it couldn't dispel the restlessness in her heart.
"Ms. Smith, I've arranged for the Gordon family to send people by plane to search for Mr. Gordon," Johnnie said.
"Good, thank you." Nora nodded.
Johnnie looked apologetic, saying, "I should apologize. I didn't take good care of Mr. Gordon."
Nora naturally didn't blame him. She said, "It's not your fault. Fortunately, you weren't in the car, or you would have been involved in the accident, too."
At her words, Johnnie hesitated.
Nora glanced at him, "What's wrong?"
Johnnie fell silent for a moment and said, "I don't know if I'm overthinking it, but I feel like Mr. Gordon's accident is a bit unusual."
Hearing this, Nora tensed slightly and asked, "Johnnie, do you think Aaron's accident was deliberate?"
Johnnie said, "It's hard to say. After Mr. Gordon and I arrived in Highty City, I rented a car from a rental company here for convenience. The car was still new, and the person in charge said the car had just been serviced."
"I was supposed to drive, but coincidentally, I had a stomach ache before departure and had diarrhea, so Mr. Gordon had to go to the destination alone. Then he had an accident. It doesn't seem like a coincidence."
Listening to Johnnie's words, Nora furrowed her brow, indeed finding it a bit too coincidental.
Frederick interjected suddenly, "Ms. Smith, when Mr. Gordon had an accident and fell off a cliff before, you saved him in a similar situation. The driver was temporarily replaced, and it seems like they calculated that Mr. Gordon would be alone on this trip to make something happen. Because when a car malfunctions, the driver is more likely to die than the passenger."
