Chapter 808 How About We Went Together
"Zephyr has big ambitions, Dad, don't force him."
Hubert noticed that Leonard wanted Zephyr to join the family business.
Leonard still cared about Zephyr, his illegitimate son.
Fortunately, Zephyr didn't listen to Leonard.
It was hard to tell if Zephyr was foolish or just too proud.
"Exactly; Zephyr hasn't received any formal training since he was young. If you let him join the business, would he be helping or causing trouble? Although we are rich, we can't just let anyone squander our money," Patricia said indifferently.
Leonard glanced at her and put the empty soup bowl aside.
Although he said nothing, his expression was definitely not good.
Zephyr noticed and didn't want to stay any longer.
He stood up and said, "Dad, you rest well. I have something to attend to, so I'll leave first."
Leonard frowned but said nothing as he watched him leave.
After Zephyr left, Patricia saw Leonard's unhappy face and asked, "Do you want more soup?"
"Leave it; I have no appetite," Leonard said.
Patricia said sarcastically, "This is the soup made by your favorite youngest son. How could you have no appetite?"
Leonard frowned. "Stop being sarcastic. Even though Zephyr has been acknowledged, I haven't given him anything!"
Patricia's tone became sharper. "Allowing him to be included in the Wright family genealogy and truly become a member of the Wright family is the greatest gift to him. What more does he want? He is just an illegitimate son of no standing."
Leonard was so annoyed by her sarcastic tone that his heart felt uncomfortable.
"Enough; I'm tired and want to rest for a while. Hubert, take your mother back. Mario Torres can take care of me here."
Hubert noticed Leonard's impatience, agreed and left the ward with Patricia, who also looked displeased.
"Mom, be a bit softer in your attitude. Don't make Dad angry. Be careful; he might leave all the property to that illegitimate son in a fit of anger."
Hearing this, Patricia frowned. "He wouldn't dare!"
Hubert said, "Why wouldn't he? After all, he is the head of the family. It's up to him to decide who gets the inheritance. And don't forget, Dad has always been trying to find a backer for Zephyr."
Patricia suddenly remembered that Leonard had secretly introduced wealthy heiresses to Zephyr without her knowledge, and her face darkened even more.
"Fortunately, that Helen Watson didn't fancy him. Otherwise, Zephyr would have gained momentum."
Hubert sneered. "I heard he has a girlfriend now."
Patricia said, "I wonder what kind of person she is."
Hubert chuckled mockingly, "Don't worry, she must not be someone wealthy. Otherwise, it would have already spread in our circle."
Patricia said, "It would be best if he marries a useless woman."
Hubert said, "Mom, you should coax Dad more often. Don't let him transfer the property to Zephyr."
"Got it; I won't let Zephyr get a penny from the Wright family."
Zephyr had no idea about their schemes behind his back.
He didn't leave the hospital directly but took the elevator to the obstetrics and gynecology department.
Seeing the flow of people coming and going, he hesitated for a moment and then asked a nurse for Sandy's room number.
Learning that Sandy was in a VIP room, Zephyr took a deep breath and went to the room.
Looking through the window, Zephyr didn't see Sandy.
His hand on the doorknob hesitated, and he ultimately didn't go in.
Given his current relationship with Sandy, barging in like this would make her uncomfortable.
Moreover, he hadn't bought anything, and it would be impolite if he went in.
Zephyr stood at the door for a while, then turned and left.
He took the elevator down, and it stopped on the next floor.
The elevator door opened, and someone came in.
Zephyr was slightly surprised to see the person.
"Jane?"
It was Jane who had entered.
"Hello."
Jane nodded slightly at Zephyr, her expression serious and hurried.
Jane's aura was somewhat cold, and the temperature in the elevator seemed to drop with her presence.
Zephyr's eyes showed a hint of curiosity. "Are you on duty?"
"Yes."
Seeing that Jane didn't want to say more, Zephyr didn't ask what duty she was on.
When the elevator reached the first floor, he watched Jane's cold and swift figure and suddenly thought of something.
"Jane, do you know that Sandy is also in the hospital?"
Jane paused. "What's wrong with Doctor Hernandez?"
"She just had a baby," Zephyr said.
Jane raised an eyebrow slightly. "Which room is she in? I'll visit her when I have time."
Zephyr's eyes flickered. "She's in the VIP room on the fourth floor."
"Okay, got it." Jane walked ahead.
Zephyr followed closely. "When do you plan to visit her?"
Jane glanced at him. "Why?"
"I also plan to visit her. How about we go together?"
Zephyr wanted to visit Sandy with her.
Jane slowed her pace and looked at Zephyr. "Didn't you just come down from upstairs? Weren't you visiting Doctor Hernandez?"
"No, my dad is also in the hospital. I was visiting him," Zephyr said.
Jane initially wanted to tease Zephyr and ask why he wanted to visit Sandy with her.
But hearing that Leonard was ill, she thought it was inappropriate to joke.
"Is your dad okay?"
"He's fine. He had a sudden heart attack but was resuscitated."
Jane nodded. "Alright, I'll contact you when I'm free today."
Zephyr smiled slightly. "Okay, I'll wait for your call."
Jane was about to say something when her phone rang.
She took out her phone and saw it was a colleague from the precinct, so she quickly answered.
"Have you found him?"
"No, we've searched the area but haven't found him."
The colleague said, "This Ernest Bell is quite cunning. He pretended to go to the bathroom, injured a prison guard, and escaped from the hospital. What do you think he's up to? I think his suicide attempt in prison was premeditated, just to escape during the medical transfer."
Ernest was the one who had taken Lori hostage at the Hamilton Group's Radiant Beauty Clinic because he blamed her for making Aria look beautiful, leading to Aria running away. Jane had subdued him.
Ernest had been imprisoned, but two nights ago, he attempted suicide in prison with a sharpened toothbrush.
Fortunately, he was discovered in time and taken to the hospital, saving his life.
But this morning, Ernest took advantage of a shift change, pretended to go to the bathroom, injured the on-duty officer, and escaped from the hospital.
Jane's precinct received a notice early in the morning asking her and a few colleagues to assist the prison guards in finding Ernest.
"Ernest might be looking for his runaway wife," Jane speculated.
It was clear that Ernest had an obsessive personality and was unwilling to be caught, so he devised a plan to escape.
Jane thought of something. "Call Ernest's wife, Aria, and tell her to be careful during this time.
