Chapter 756 Did We Need a License
"Dad."
Caden and Jeffery entered the mansion and greeted Jacob.
Jacob responded, his gaze sweeping over the two. Seeing Jeffery's unhappy expression, he furrowed his brows.
Rumors were circulating that Caden and Jeffery had been at odds frequently, even contemplating divorce.
Clearly, Jeffery was struggling with his role as a wife.
"Aaron will be here soon with Nora and the kids. As elders, pull yourselves together. Don't embarrass the younger ones and tarnish the Gordon family's reputation," Jacob said.
This was a reprimand to Caden and Jeffery.
Caden glanced at Jeffery. "Did you hear that? Stop sulking all the time; it's annoying."
Upon hearing this, Jeffery felt both wronged and embarrassed.
"How could you say that? Caden. If you didn't do things that upset me, would I be sulking all the time at you?"
Caden frowned, showing impatience.
"Here you go again. I just listened to some music and danced with others; you don't need to make a big deal out of it."
Jeffery's chest heaved, shouting, "Is that all? Do you dare say you haven't been intimate with them?"
Caden glared at her. "I have nothing to say to you. If you want to divorce, go ahead, I don't care!"
"Caden Gordon!"
Jeffery's eyes reddened with anger.
"That's enough. Can't you hear what I said? You're both mature adults. Why is it that every little disagreement leads to talks of divorce? It's embarrassing, I find it embarrassing!"
Jacob scolded Caden and Jeffery with a stern face.
"Dad, calm down. Don't let your heart condition act up again."
Caden was very respectful, smiling as he handed Jacob a cup of coffee.
Jacob glared at him, scolding, "Talk to your wife properly. Stop shouting all the time."
Caden swallowed his retort and handed over the coffee with a forced smile.
Jacob took the coffee, glanced at Jeffery who was sitting on the sofa with slightly reddened eyes.
"And you, coming from a decent family, you should learn to win over your husband's heart, don't escalate conflicts."
Jeffery sat in silence.
Jacob took a sip of coffee and said, "Go wash your face quickly. I'll say it again: Aaron is about to bring Nora and the kids back, so pull yourselves together. Don't make a scene in front of them."
"Yes," Caden repeatedly agreed.
Jeffery also responded and went upstairs to wash her face.
Not long after she went upstairs, a servant came to report that Aaron and the others had returned.
Jacob's previously displeased expression instantly changed, and he was escorted by Caden to the entrance of the Gordon mansion.
At this moment, Aaron and the others were led through the lawn by the servants, heading towards the entrance of the Gordon mansion.
"Great-grandpa," Alex, Billy, and Samantha called out cheerfully.
"You're back!" Jacob couldn't stop smiling.
"Grandpa, Dad."
"Grandpa, hello, Uncle Gordon."
Aaron and Nora greeted the two, respectively.
"Come in quickly," Caden said.
Caden glanced at the beautiful Nora, feeling a bit emotional.
He never expected that Nora, the talented doctor, would have such a fate with Aaron.
Five years ago, they had a one-night stand, and five years later, Nora saved Aaron.
Finally, they reunited as a family.
Such emotional experiences were truly enviable.
Caden couldn't help but think of his own marriage, feeling even more emotional.
He had lived a dissolute life, yet his spirit felt empty.
If only he could find a soul-mate like Aaron did, that would be wonderful.
After everyone settled in the house, Jeffery came downstairs.
"Mom."
"Aunt Pip."
Aaron and Nora greeted Jeffery.
"You're back," Jeffery said.
Jeffery looked at Nora with mixed emotions.
She never expected that Nora, whom she disliked, would eventually become her daughter-in-law.
Originally, Nora was of humble origins and had three children, which she could have opposed.
But with the three children being heirs of the Gordon family, she couldn't object anymore.
Of course, even if she objected, Aaron wouldn't listen to her.
Seeing everyone smiling, Jeffery felt a bit suffocated.
They were a family, but she felt like an outsider.
Shortly after, the servant came to report that the Jones family had arrived, escorting Alex and Erin.
The house became lively once again.
The children greeted Alex and Erin loudly.
Besides the bodyguards, the Jones family also brought Noe and Seraphina.
"Hello, Dr. Smith," Seraphina greeted Nora with a smile.
She had cut her long hair into a bob, dressed in a well-tailored white shirt and black skirt, exuding a gentle and serene smile.
Nora hadn't seen Seraphina for a long time and noticed the change in her appearance.
It wasn't a physical change but a transformation in her aura and demeanor.
Before, Seraphina was simple, like an uncut gemstone.
Now, she seemed more delicate than before.
It seemed that with a bit more refinement, Seraphina would shine brightly.
Indeed, the environment played a significant role in shaping and nurturing individuals.
When Seraphina and Noe stood together, they looked perfect!
Nora wondered if there was a budding romance between Seraphina and Noe.
Nora really wanted to ask.
After exchanging greetings, Jacob announced that dinner was ready.
Aaron checked the time on his wrist. "Grandpa, wait a moment."
Jacob was puzzled. "Who else is coming?"
Nora also looked at him curiously.
Aaron smiled and intertwined his fingers with Nora's.
"The Marriage Bureau people."
Nora was slightly taken aback. Why would the Marriage Bureau people come?
Suddenly, she realized.
Aaron had invited the Marriage Bureau people directly to the house to process their marriage certificate!
Nora's heart skipped a beat, feeling nervous and amused.
Although she knew that they would get married to Aaron sooner or later, having the Marriage Bureau people come to the house was a bit too much.
"You rascal," Jacob also guessed a bit and jokingly scolded Aaron.
Aaron held Nora's hand tightly, his deep brown eyes fixed on her.
"I have no choice, Nora is too popular, I have to hold on tight."
Aaron's deep gaze was affectionate, making Nora blush and playfully glare at him.
In front of so many people, Aaron shouldn't be so sentimental.
"Billy, what are the Marriage Bureau people for?" Millie didn't understand and asked Billy.
Billy thought for a moment and explained, "They're here to help Dad and Mom process their marriage certificate."
Millie blinked. "I get it; Dad and Mom are getting married."
Billy nodded. "After that, they'll be legally married, and we'll truly become a family."
Millie tilted her head and agreed, then came an amazing question.
"Billy, do we need a license?"
Billy was speechless.
