Chapter 1017 Signe Was Amazing

Walter's face darkened. "Enough! I'm a man, so what's wrong with having a few women around? Astrid, you framed Maiken to make me hate her. You've tormented her and Alfred for years, and I let it slide. Do you think you run this house?" Walter's voice was firm.

Astrid looked grim and didn't respond, but she was clearly unhappy.

She glared at Nora and her group with hostility.

"What are they saying?" Aaron asked Hugo.

Hugo, feeling awkward, translated truthfully.

Aaron's face darkened. He told Astrid, "Mrs. Rochet, let's set aside family issues for now. If we did something wrong, we apologize. But about the child, please be rational. Randall is growing up, and you don't want to regret leading him astray."

Astrid, still angry, wasn't listening.

"I'll handle Randall myself. I don't need your interference."

"Shut up and go to your room!" Walter shouted, seeing Astrid's defiance.

Astrid glared at them. "I'll have Signe get rid of these Chrisland people."

She stormed off, with Randall quickly following her.

Walter was furious.

Hugo patted his shoulder, trying to comfort him.

Walter calmed down and apologized to Aaron, "I'm sorry, I haven't been strict enough with Astrid. Please forgive us."

Aaron waved it off. "Forget it. Since we arrived, your home has been in turmoil. It's normal for her to be biased against us."

Walter said, "You all must be hungry. Let's talk over dinner."

"Alright."

They headed to the dining room.

Alfred stood still.

"Alfred, come on, let's eat together," Samantha said, reaching for his hand.

Alfred shook his head, feeling unworthy to sit with them.

"Come on, don't you want to hear how Billy made Randall see ghosts in broad daylight?"

Alfred's eyes lit up, looking at Billy with admiration. Randall often bullied him, and he wanted to know how Billy taught him a lesson.

Alfred hesitated, then nodded and walked with them to the dining room.

The four kids chatted along the way.

Billy took out an injection needle to show off.

Alfred couldn't believe just one needle could make Randall see ghosts.

Billy teased, "Do you want to see a ghost too?"

Alfred hesitated and nodded.

Billy grinned. "Are you really that silly to try it yourself?"

Alfred scratched his head, embarrassed. "I'm just curious."

Billy said, "Aren't we going to see Signe later? You'll see my mom's medical skills."

Mentioning Signe made Alfred worried. "Signe is very powerful."

Astrid had invited Signe before, and during those days, both he and Maiken felt very unwell.

"No matter how powerful, she's not as powerful as my mom. My mom is a miracle doctor," Billy said. "Good triumphs over evil. Do you think a god is more powerful or a ghost?"

Alfred thought for a moment and replied, "A god."

Billy said, "Exactly."

Alfred nodded.

They entered the villa and reached the dining room.

Alfred saw everyone seated and hesitated, glancing at Walter.

Walter didn't say anything.

Seeing Samantha pat the chair next to her, Walter nodded slightly, allowing Alfred to join them.

Alfred's mood lifted.

He sat next to Samantha and saw the table full of exquisite dishes he had never seen before. He discreetly swallowed.

So many delicious dishes.

He wanted Maiken to taste them too.

"Can I take some food to mommy later?" Alfred tentatively asked Walter.

"Don't worry, I've already had the servants send food over," Walter said.

Alfred was happy. "Thank you, Mr. Rochet."

Walter looked at him and said, "From now on, call me Dad."

Astrid had always forbidden Alfred from calling Walter Dad.

Walter had allowed Astrid to arrange things this way.

But from today on, that had to change.

After all, Alfred was his first child.

Alfred had done nothing wrong.

Alfred clenched his small fists, his eyes slightly red.

He blinked and softly called, "Dad."

Walter nodded, his expression softening a bit.

Soon, Randall, having changed his clothes, was helped down by a servant.

Walter asked, "Where's your mommy?"

"She said she's not hungry."

Randall was a bit scared seeing Billy there.

He didn't speak as loudly as usual.

"Leave her alone." Walter's face didn't look good.

He suppressed his anger, forced a smile, and invited everyone. "Don't be shy, let's eat."

Then everyone started eating.

Night gradually fell, and after everyone had eaten and drunk their fill, three witch doctors were invited over by Walter.

The leader wore a floral jacket, had a long beard, and held a long staff.

The staff had several bells tied to it, which jingled crisply as he walked.

He looked quite the part.

Nora watched them chat with Walter and said to Aaron, "They probably aren't from here."

Aaron nodded and asked Hugo, "Where are they from?"

Hugo said, "These witch doctors are known as Herman people here. They settled here over thirty years ago to escape war."

Aaron and Nora nodded in understanding.

"You believe in them because of faith, right? As a spiritual support," Aaron said.

"Maybe," Hugo replied, "The world is full of wonders. Some things are better believed in than not."

Nora, standing nearby, didn't comment.

She didn't want to say much about these matters.

But she couldn't stand by while these witch doctors deliberately misled people, saying Millie was a jinx.

"Mr. Gordon, Dr. Smith, let me introduce you. This is Signe, and these are his assistants, Dale Jordan and Manuel Owens," Walter introduced the three to Aaron and Nora.

Aaron nodded coldly, without saying much.

Walter then said to Signe, "These are distinguished guests from Chrisland. They wanted to meet you."

Signe looked at Aaron and Nora, his dark face expressionless.

He had an arrogant demeanor.

"Do you need my help with something?" he asked after Hugo translated.

Aaron replied, "We've heard of your remarkable medical skills. My wife is also a doctor, and we came specifically to exchange knowledge."
