Chapter 369 Don't Get Divorced
Suddenly, her phone rang. Aaron was calling. Nora put down her fork and answered the call,
"Hello?"
"Are you still at the hospital?" Aaron asked.
"Yeah, I am visiting Sandy," Nora replied.
"Have you eaten? I just arrived at the hotel. If you haven't eaten, let Frederick pick you up so we could have dinner together," he suggested.
Aaron was most likely at a business dinner.
Nora glanced at the food in front of her and said, "No need, I already had dinner with Sandy."
Aaron fell silent for a moment and asked, "What do you want to do after dinner?"
Nora replied, "I haven't decided yet."
"How about keeping me company?" Aaron asked.
Nora couldn't have been more speechless. "Do I look like I have nothing to do?" she asked, slightly annoyed.
Aaron chuckled lightly. "I hope you do have nothing to do," he teased.
Nora rolled her eyes and said, "I'm hanging up now." Why did she feel like certain someone was getting clingier? After hanging up, Nora put her phone aside.
Kenneth asked, "Aaron's call?"
Nora replied, "Yeah."
"Aaron is a good person. Are you going to get married this year?" Kenneth asked as he liked to gossip casually when he had nothing else to do.
Nora paused her meal and lowered her gaze. "Kenneth, I don't want to get married," she remarked.
Kenneth was taken aback. "Why? Is he treating you badly?" he asked, baffled.
Nora looked at him, her eyes shifting slightly. "No, it's just that marriage makes me feel insecure. If I could see you and Sandy in love, staying together, maybe I would believe in marriage, only then will I consider," she remarked.
Kenneth glanced at her and took a quick look at Sandy on the hospital bed. He didn't say much. It seemed like his wife must have said something to his sister.
As an older brother, he didn't seem like a good example.
"Keep eating," Kenneth said imposingly as he picked up some food with his fork and put it in Nora's bowl. Then he put down his fork and elegantly wiped the corners of his mouth with a tissue.
Nora ate her food, feeling frustrated.
Did her older brother understand what she meant? She didn't want to see them get divorced. They needed to be good to each other!
At that moment, her phone beeped, indicating a text message had arrived.
Nora glanced at her phone and saw that it was a message from Jenny. She opened it and saw a photo of a landscape.
Nora looked at the landmark in the photo and was instantly excited. She quickly sent a message.
Nora: [Jenny, are you in Lindwood City?]
Shortly after, Jenny called.
As soon as she picked up the call, "Jenny, are you in Lindwood City?" Nora asked.
"Yes, I'm here with one of the company's artists to appear at a variety show. We'll be staying here for a few days," Jenny replied.
"Well, that's great," Nora said happily, then she paused and asked, "Does Edric know?"
"He knows," Jenny replied.
Nora thought about Edric and Anna and couldn't help but feel disappointed.
Although she had told herself that the incident last time was probably just a misunderstanding and she didn't need to tell Jenny for now, it still made her uncomfortable.
She felt uneasy knowing that her friend was still unaware of the situation.
Nora, are you busy?" Jenny inquired upon observing Nora's quietness.
"No, I'm not busy," Nora responded.
"If you're free, let's catch up later," Jenny proposed.
"Absolutely," Nora agreed with enthusiasm.
After hanging up, Nora had a few more bites of her meal and then prepared to leave.
"Sandy, a friend of mine is in Lindenwood City. I'm going to meet her," Nora said to Kenneth.
Kenneth frowned when he saw her eating so little. "You barely ate much. Can't you eat a bit more?" he asked.
"It's okay, I'm full. I won't disturb your alone time," Nora smiled.
Sandy got off the bed and walked towards Nora. Sandy felt a bit uncomfortable knowing that Nora was about to leave, recalling the scene when someone fed her soup earlier.
"Nora, I'll walk you out," Sandy said.
"No need, you should rest," Nora politely declined.
"It's fine," Sandy insisted and escorted her out of the ward.
Nora didn't refuse this time, stopping outside the room. Nora paused and spoke, "Sandy, you haven't answered me. Are you still thinking about Zephyr?"
Sandy fell silent for a moment with her question. "He was my first love, so it's not easy to forget him completely. But I never thought about being with him after the divorce. Being together is no longer possible," she answered.
Nora looked into her clear eyes and nodded. Then she asked, "Do you like Kenneth?"
Sandy was momentarily speechless, finding herself at a crossroads of her emotions.
Her feelings towards Kenneth were a tangled web, making it difficult for her to provide a straightforward answer.
She was initially afraid of getting close to him. However, once they got to know each other, she gradually fell for his charm and began to admire him.
Then, she truly treated him as her husband. Suddenly, she realized that she was quite fickle. Not long after she separated from Zephyr, she fell in love with another man.
"Sandy, you actually like Kenneth, don't you?" Nora tried to ask when she noticed Sandy's silence.
Sandy snapped back to reality and sighed softly, "Nora, it's useless to talk about this now. Fortunately, our feelings are not deep, so getting divorced won't be too painful."
Does it matter if she likes him or not since they will eventually get divorced?
"Sandy, I guess Kenneth mentioned the divorce not because of that superstition but because he feels that there is someone else in your heart. If you explain it to him clearly, I don't think Kenneth will divorce you," Nora quickly defended Kenneth.
A glimmer of hope flashed through Sandy's eyes, but it quickly disappeared.
No, she is the bringer of bad luck. Now that the truth is out, she can no longer stay by Kenneth's side. What if she brings harm to him someday? He is a good man. She doesn't want to hurt him!
Sandy smiled and said, "All right, stop worrying about me. Come visit my house more often when you have time."
Nora hesitated to speak, but seeing that Sandy didn't want to continue the conversation, she ultimately said nothing.
"Well, I'll be going then," Nora announced her exit.
"Okay." Sandy watched as Nora left before returning to the ward.
Kenneth had finished eating and was drinking from a glass. Sandy's gaze unconsciously fell on his sexy lips, thinking about how he fed her soup, her ears inexplicably turning red.
She quickly lowered her eyes, avoiding him.
Kenneth noticed her blushing ears and observed intently.
"Are you full?" he asked.
"Yes," Sandy replied, then walked towards the bed.
Kenneth stood up and grabbed her, his black eyes as deep as the sea.
Sandy was startled; her gaze dropped, unintentionally falling on his red lips, and she swallowed saliva.
"W-What's wrong?" she stuttered.
"Are you really full?" Kenneth asked and then pressed his hand against her abdomen. He blurted out, "If you are full, why is your stomach still so flat? Should I feed you some more?"
He was trying to feed her again!
Sandy's heart raced like a deer caught in headlights. She quickly pulled away his hand and hurriedly lay down on the bed.
"I am full. I just want to rest. You should go back to work!" she said as she covered her head with the blanket, spontaneously.
A faint glint of amusement appeared in Kenneth's eyes as he smirked.
His slender fingers unbuttoned a few buttons on his shirt; then he walked confidently towards the hospital bed.
Sandy was wrapped in the comforter; her ear still heard his magnetic voice echoing, making her heart thump heavily.
Was he flirting with her? He used to be a serious person, so why did he suddenly feel like a different person?
Lost in her thoughts, the comforter was suddenly lifted. Before she could react, Kenneth had already gotten on the bed and lay down beside her.
