Chapter 490 Who is Approaching His Woman

Nora glanced at her, took off her mask, and said to Ebenezer, who followed, "Dad, the surgery was successful. However, due to excessive blood loss, Mom is still in a coma and needs to be observed overnight. If she wakes up tonight, she will be out of danger."

Hearing this, everyone present sighed in relief, except for Suzy, who was very afraid.

‘Emma didn't die! If she survives tonight, then everything I have done will be in vain! What should I do?’ she contemplated.

Amid her panic, Suzy heard Nora say again, "However, I have some bad news to tell you. While I was performing the surgery, I discovered that Mom had abnormal white blood cells and impaired clotting function. She may have leukemia."

A sentence that shocked everyone present.

Ebenezer asked, "Leukemia? How could Emma have such a disease?"

Nora replied, "There are many reasons, such as genetic mutations, viral infections, radiation exposure, and so on."

"Nora, what should we do now?" Kenneth asked with a serious expression.

"We can start with conservative treatment," Nora replied.

She continued, "But based on my experience, conservative treatment may not be very effective. If we want Mom to be completely cured, it would be best to perform a bone marrow transplant after she wakes up."

A suitable donor was a must for this surgery.

Ebenezer, Kenneth, and Howard all understood this.

Ebenezer glanced at Kenneth and Howard standing beside him and asked, "What if the matching is not successful?"

"Then we continue with conservative treatment," Nora said.

"Does that mean Emma cannot be cured in this way?" Ebenezer asked.

Nora was silent for a moment, saying, "We need to be prepared. If we only rely on conservative treatment, the worst-case scenario is that she may only have a year or so to live."

They all had a grave expression.

Howard was also a doctor and understood the situation, so he advised, "Dad, Kenneth, and I are direct relatives of Mom. We will go and have our blood tested to see if we are a match,"

"All right, go quickly," Ebenezer urged hurriedly.

Suzy, who was listening to their conversation, felt resentful.

She thought, 'I don't know if this news can be considered good news or not. If the matching is unsuccessful, then Emma can only wait to die. Now that she will die sooner or later, why can't she die on the operating table to fulfill my wish? What should I do if Emma is still alive?'

"Dad, I'll also go and have my blood drawn," Suzy suppressed her inner turmoil and pretended to care.

Ebenezer glanced at her and wanted to say that she wasn't Emma's biological daughter, so there was no need for her to have her blood drawn.

But he didn't say it.

Having one more person get tested might increase the chances of a successful match.

"Suzy, you are a good child," Ebenezer praised.

"Dad, she is also my Mom. I still hope that she can be healthy," Suzy said.

Suzy acted obediently and went to have her blood drawn under Ebenezer's relieved gaze.

"Are you tired?" Aaron stepped forward and asked with concern after they finished talking.

Nora finally looked at his face. "Why did you come?" she asked.

"With such a big event, how could I not come?" Aaron replied with his subtle expression.

The big event he mentioned was not about Emma but Frederick's report.

Someone was trying to get close to Nora!

Aaron was very worried and had to see who was approaching his woman!

"Aaron, Nora has been in surgery for hours and must be exhausted. Please take her back to rest," Ebenezer said to Aaron.

"All right," Aaron agreed and reached out to hold Nora.

Nora also had no intention of staying any longer.

One reason was that she was indeed tired, and the other was that Emma was not her biological mother, so she didn't need to stay at the hospital all the time.

"Dad, I'll head back now. Let me know if there are any updates," Nora said.

"Okay, thank you, Nora," Ebenezer expressed his gratitude.

Nora smiled, changed out of her work clothes, and then left the hospital with Aaron, getting into Frederick's car.

As soon as they got in the car, she started yawning.

Aaron looked at her tired expression and wanted to ask her about Matthew, but he didn't.

"Are you hungry? Let me take you to eat something first," Aaron suggested.

Nora shook her head and said, "I'm a bit tired now. Just take me home and let me rest for a while."

She didn't feel tired while she was focused on the surgery, but now that she had relaxed, she couldn't eat anything and just wanted to lie down and rest.

Aaron furrowed his brow slightly, thinking that it wasn't good to sleep without eating.

Frederick, in the driver's seat, reminded, "Mr. Gordon, there is some chocolate in the car that the children like. Let Dr. Smith have some first."

Hearing this, Aaron gave him an appreciative look. "Bring it over," he said.

Frederick took out some chocolate from the center console and handed it to Aaron.

Aaron opened the packaging and handed it to Nora. "Have some first."

The chocolate was smelly and sweet, and Nora liked it, she didn't refuse.

Aaron also fed her a few pieces of cookies. Nora instantly felt much better.

After eating enough, Nora shook her head, indicating that she didn't want to eat anymore.

Aaron put the remaining food aside and patted his shoulder. "Come here," he coaxed.

Nora didn't hesitate. She leaned into his embrace, wrapped her arms around his waist, and closed her eyes.

He smelled good and made her feel at ease. Nora soon fell asleep.

Aaron gently stroked her back, watching her peaceful sleeping face, a soft flickering in his eyes.

A woman as wonderful as her must have many suitors, and he really wanted to always tie her to him!

Frederick drove steadily and soon arrived at the villa.

Nora was sound asleep, so Aaron didn't wake her up. Instead, he draped his coat over her and gently carried her.

The slight movement woke Nora up. She reluctantly opened one eye, looking confused.

Aaron quickly coaxed, "Go back to sleep; we're home."

His voice was gentle, and Nora nuzzled against his chest dependently before continuing to sleep.

Aaron's expression softened as he carried her into the house. After going upstairs, he gently placed her on the bed and helped her take off her clothes.

Nora kept her eyes closed throughout, allowing him to take care of her.

Aaron tucked her in, watching her find a comfortable position and drift into a deep sleep. He smiled and leaned down to kiss her on the face.

Just then, Nora's phone rang. She received a message from Matthew.

Aaron picked up the phone and squinted his hazel eyes while reading the message.

The message contained the time and location for dinner.

Aaron felt displeased and didn't reply to the message; instead, he turned off the phone's sound and left the room to call Noe.

"Noe, please help me investigate someone immediately," Aaron ordered.

Nora had slept for a while and woke up in the late afternoon. She stretched her body, felt her empty stomach, and got out of bed.

The house was very quiet, with no one around.

She wondered, ‘Where did Aaron go? Did he go back to Houston?’

Nora was about to call him when a message came to her phone.

Matthew: [Dr. Hamilton, I'm about to set off.]
