Chapter 183 A Sense of Fulfillment for Aaron

Gently, Jenny lifted Samantha from the bed, her fingers tenderly combing through the girl's tousled short hair.

"Possibly," she replied.

A spark of joy ignited in Samantha's eyes. "That's awesome! I'm going to have a dad!" she exclaimed, her voice ringing with delight.

With a giggle that echoed through the room, Samantha dashed off to share the thrilling news with her two brothers. Jenny's voice trailed after her, a note of caution in her tone, "I said it's possible, not for certain!"

A soft smile tugged at Jenny's lips as she mused, 'Samantha really wants Aaron to be her dad, huh? Aaron's charm is indeed undeniable!'

Meanwhile, downstairs, Aaron and Nora had returned.

"Grandma," Nora greeted Carter with a warm smile.

Carter, aware of Nora's absence earlier, cast a glance over the two. She noticed her granddaughter's discomfort but chose to refrain from prying, not wanting to cause her further embarrassment.

"I'm going upstairs to check on the kids," Nora informed Aaron, her feet already guiding her towards the stairs.

By then, the three children, along with Jenny, had completed their morning routine and were making their way downstairs. Samantha, her eyes sharp and her smile wide, trotted down the steps with swift, eager steps.

"Take it easy," Nora laughed, her eyes following Samantha's descent.

Samantha rushed into Nora's open arms, her curious eyes looking up at her mother. "Mom, where did you and Dad go on a date last night?"

Nora fell silent, taken aback by Samantha's sudden question.

Why was Samantha suddenly referring to Aaron as 'dad' again?

"Samantha, don't just throw that word around," Nora chided gently, her voice soft yet firm.

Samantha blinked, her gaze shifting between her mother and Aaron. "Mom, you and Mr. Gordon had a date night. Doesn't that make Mr. Gordon my dad now?"

Nora found herself at a loss for words, unsure of how to explain the situation. However, Aaron, comfortably seated in his wheelchair, came to her rescue.

"Your mom's a bit shy. Let's not press her. Just so you know, I'm the only one in the running to be your dad," he declared, his confident tone filling the room.

Samantha leaned into him, a hint of disappointment lacing her voice. "I was hoping I could start calling you dad today."

Aaron patted her head affectionately. "You can call me that today. Come here, I'll do your hair."

Samantha's eyes sparkled with excitement. "Okay! Dad, where did you and Mom go on your date yesterday?"

"Just somewhere nearby," Aaron replied nonchalantly.

"Dad, are you going to go on another date with mom today?"

"That depends if your mom wants to," he answered, his gaze subtly shifting towards Nora.

Samantha's repetitive use of 'dad' was beginning to unsettle Nora, making her wish the young girl would cease.

Just then, Edric walked in, catching the tail end of Samantha's conversation.

"Samantha, who are you calling Dad?" he asked, his brows furrowed in confusion.

Aaron, having just finished braiding Samantha's hair, responded, "Me."

Edric squinted in disbelief. "Really? Did you already win over Dr. Smith?"

"It's only a matter of time," Aaron replied coolly, his eyes meeting Edric's.

From the sidelines, Samantha chimed in, "Edric, last night, dad and mom went on a date!"

Edric's brows shot up in surprise, his gaze darting towards Nora.

Feeling the weight of the stares, Nora quickly intervened. "Alex and Billy, take Samantha for breakfast. I need to run upstairs for something."

"Sure," Alex and Billy chimed in unison, their voices echoing through the room.

As Nora hurried upstairs, Jenny's usually quiet eyes followed her, brimming with curiosity.
Upon entering the sanctuary of the bedroom, the door securely closed behind them, Jenny leveled her gaze at Nora. "Nora, what truly transpired between you and Aaron last night?" she demanded.

Before Nora could formulate a response, Jenny's eagle eyes spotted a revealing clue. "Nora," she asked, her voice laced with suspicion, "did you share Aaron's bed last night?" A conspicuous mark marred Nora's neck, a hickey that screamed the truth.

Nora squirmed uncomfortably, tugging at her collar, yet she offered no denial. "Nora," Jenny pressed, "did you truly sleep with him? I was under the impression that marriage was not on your agenda."

Despite her suspicions, the reality of the situation left Jenny astounded. Nora had always been a paragon of virtue; her sudden liaison with Aaron was a shocking deviation from her usual behavior.

"Jenny, it was merely a single night. It doesn't signify an impending wedding," Nora responded, her voice light with laughter.

"You have no intentions of marrying him? Then why the sudden intimacy?" Jenny probed.

"I was deceived yesterday, and Aaron came to my aid," Nora explained, summarizing the previous day's events.

Jenny listened, her anger simmering beneath the surface. "Jackson is an absolute scoundrel! And now? Are you just going to let it slide?"

Nora pursed her lips, "Aaron assured me he won't let it go."

Jenny's brows furrowed in thought, and after a moment's pause, she asked, "So Aaron slept with you. What happens now?"

A twinkle sparked in Nora's eyes as she recalled the previous night's events. "Technically speaking, Jenny, I was the one who slept with him. He proposed, but I have no intention of taking responsibility for him."

Jenny fell silent. Was this the same Nora she knew? When had she become so liberated?

"You're something else!" Jenny laughed, giving her a thumbs-up.

Nora knew she was jesting and retorted, "I'm suggesting we should just be friends with benefits."

Jenny nearly choked on her own saliva. She grabbed Nora, scrutinizing her from head to toe, "Is this really you?"

Feeling slightly awkward but striving to maintain an air of indifference, Nora replied, "Jenny, I'm a mother of three. Can't I live a little?"

Jenny nodded in agreement, "Sure, why not? So, was he any good?"

"If he wasn't, would I suggest friends with benefits?"

Jenny responded, "Nora, you've truly opened my eyes."

Meanwhile, in the restaurant downstairs, Edric nudged Aaron, who was seated beside him, and asked in a hushed tone, "What's the deal? What happened between you and Dr. Smith last night?"

Aaron was in the midst of pouring milk for Samantha. At Edric's question, he remained silent but purposefully touched his neck.

Edric's gaze followed Aaron's hand to the mark, his eyes widening in surprise, and his voice rose slightly, "Aaron, did you actually succeed?"

The three children and Carter all turned to look at them. Realizing his excitement had gotten the better of him, Edric quickly laughed it off, "Never mind, let's eat."

Aaron, sandwich in hand, merely smiled and took a contented bite, while Samantha watched curiously.

"Didn't expect you to move faster than me, Aaron. Tell me, how'd you pull it off?" Edric asked softly.

"Nothing to tell," Aaron replied, his mood turning frosty as he remembered the previous day's events. "Even though I desired Nora, I didn't want it under those circumstances!"

Edric's dark eyes narrowed, sensing something was amiss with Aaron. However, the arrival of Jenny and Nora downstairs prompted him to drop the subject without further inquiry.

Breakfast was consumed amidst high spirits. As was their routine, Edric offered Jenny a ride to work. Once in the car, he glanced at Jenny beside him and abruptly leaned in.

Caught off guard, Jenny recoiled. "What are you doing?"

Edric's eyes sparkled with mischief as he rested his large hand on her leg. "Jenny, don't you think we're moving a little slow? Aaron has already been with Nora."
