Chapter 666 She Cheated
Howard raised an eyebrow. "That is okay. Since Evella is an online writer, you could have her create a novel based on you. It would definitely be a bestseller."
Nora blinked. "Makes sense. Once she finishes it, just use the money to buy me a cup of latte!"
Howard couldn't help but laugh. "Sure, I'll ask Evella to start writing the next time I see her."
Nora tilted her head and looked at him. "Brother, look at you. You get all excited just talking about it! Remember, you must keep it a secret that Aaron is the biological father of the child. Don't let it slip until we deal with the imposter."
Howard's expression turned serious. "Got it. I'm not a blabbermouth."
Nora teased, "You may not be a blabbermouth, but love is powerful! Who knows if you'll get all flustered and spill the beans?"
Howard was speechless. "Nora, you're making fun of me again."
Nora nodded. "Can't help it. You offended me before, and I hold grudges!"
"Fine, go ahead and make fun of me. I don't mind."
Laughing and chatting, they headed to Lindwood City Hospital.
Once inside Howard's private office, he tossed a set of medical records to Nora.
"Take a look at this while I take a nap."
Nora glanced at him and quipped. "I thought love would make you not need food or sleep."
Howard took off his coat and hung it on the rack, "Nora, I don't want to meet my maker just yet."
Nora burst out laughing.
Howard went into the inner room to rest while Nora focused on the medical records in her hand.
The case was related to cardiovascular issues.
Nora skimmed through it quickly, her eyes flickering.
This case was similar to the one she handled for Ruth at Lumirians.
It was also heart cancer.
However, this patient had previously undergone a heart bypass surgery, and now the condition had relapsed with additional complications, making it more challenging than Ruth's case.
Nora became interested and started to carefully review the case, jotting down her surgical recommendations.
Half an hour later, she felt the need to use the restroom due to the latte she drank, so she got up and left the office.
Shortly after Nora left, someone knocked on the office door.
At that moment, Howard was resting in the inner room. He vaguely heard the knocking and groggily opened his eyes.
When Howard saw Rachel suddenly enter, he frowned and quickly sat up.
"Miss Romero, it's not polite to barge in without permission, is it?"
"Sorry, I knocked, and the door wasn't locked, so I came in." Rachel smiled gently.
Howard got up, straightened his clothes, and walked out of the rest area.
He didn't see Nora outside, only a pile of documents spread out on the desk, which puzzled him.
Where did Nora go? She wasn't outside.
"Miss Romero, what do you need?"
"Aren't you going to offer me a drink?" Rachel sat down gracefully.
Howard glanced at her and poured her a glass of water.
Rachel took the glass, looked at Howard's handsome face, and asked, "Are you dating Evella?"
"Yes." Howard nodded.
"Do you love her?" Rachel asked again.
"Yes, if all goes well, we'll get married."
Rachel stared at him. "What if you find out Evella cheated on you?"
Hearing this, Howard frowned. "Miss Romero, what exactly are you trying to say?"
Rachel took out her phone and showed him a photo.
"Dr. Hamilton, take a look for yourself. There are quite a few more photos."
Howard took Rachel's phone and glanced at it. The photo showed Richard with his arm around Evella. The location seemed to be a restaurant.
Howard frowned and flipped through more photos. Sure enough, there were many more.
Some were taken at a school, some at a shopping mall, and others in a high-end residential area.
Richard and Evella appeared together in all of them, looking very close.
If he hadn't known about Richard and Evella's relationship, he would have been furious and questioned Evella's character.
But that wasn't the case.
Howard looked up, displeased. "You had someone follow them?"
Rachel said, "Dr. Hamilton, I don't mean to slander anyone, but don't you think they're too close? Ms. Remington is dating you, yet she's so close to Richard. It's a bit inappropriate, don't you think?"
Under normal circumstances, Howard might have thought Rachel had a point.
But the fact was, Evella was Richard's niece.
Richard had just found his niece, so it was natural for him to be very caring towards her.
It was understandable for Evella to be close to her uncle.
"Miss Romero, I hope you won't be so bored in the future. Don't do this kind of thing again."
Howard didn't bother explaining and directly deleted the photos from Rachel's phone.
Rachel watched his actions, her eyebrows furrowing.
"Dr. Hamilton, do you really not mind at all? I swear, these photos weren't staged. They're real."
Howard handed the phone back to her.
"Enough. You're infringing upon her privacy. I'll say it again, please don't follow them anymore."
Rachel was skeptical.
"Dr. Hamilton, I can't believe you love Ms. Remington so unconditionally. Is it because of her family background? If so, my family background is no worse than hers."
"But I just like Evella. I have no feelings for you."
Howard said, "Miss Romero, I'll say it again, don't do such boring things. If there's nothing else, please leave."
Rachel gave him a long look but said nothing and left.
Not long after she left, Nora returned.
Seeing Howard's unhappy face, she raised an eyebrow. "What's wrong? Had a nightmare?"
"No."
Howard was still thinking about the photos.
Although Evella and Richard were uncles and nieces, and their close behavior was normal, Howard still felt a bit jealous.
Howard still hoped Evella would rely only on him.
"Who was here just now?"
Nora saw the cup on the table and asked.
"Rachel was here," Howard said.
Nora blinked. "What did she want?"
"She came to show me some photos of Evella and Richard together."
Howard was a bit frustrated. "Nora, can't they just make their relationship public to avoid misunderstandings?"
So that was the story!
Nora wanted to laugh but kept a straight face.
"Right now, they can't make their uncle-niece relationship public because the waters in the Bilian Group run too deep. If Evella's identity is revealed now, it could put her in danger."
After all, there were people in the Bilian Group vying for power. Given their ruthless nature, if they found out Evella was Zack's daughter, they would definitely try to kill her.
