Chapter 457 Blame Someone
Aaron smiled and said, "Sorry, I was busy just now and didn't check my phone."
"I'm fine. How's the company? Did you handle it?" Nora asked.
"No," Aaron replied.
"Are you still at the office?" Nora asked.
"No. I'm on my way home now. I'll deal with work tomorrow," Aaron explained.
"All right. Get some rest when you get home," Nora reminded as she held a pillow with Aaron's unique scent.
"Sure. You should get some rest, too. And if you can't sleep, I'm willing to chat with you," Aaron said with a smile.
Nora gently touched the pillow in her embrace and said, "Don't worry. I can sleep better than ever when you're not by my side."
"Really? Were you not sleeping well before?" Aaron asked.
"Of course," Nora said.
Every night, Aaron and Nora made love until late into the night. Dark circles under Nora's eyes became even worse.
"I should make you even more tired," Aaron chuckled, and teased, "You wait for me to come back. According to your suggestion, I will make you more exhausted in our lovemaking."
Nora froze and almost laughed angrily at his words.
Nora thought, ‘Why does he always want to make me fall asleep because of sex? All I want is a quiet night’s sleep! Aaron, you are a jerk. I don't want to chat with you.’
"I'm tired. Goodbye." Nora said.
She only rolled her eyes and hung up directly.
Soon, Nora's phone rang. She received a text message.
Aaron: [Goodnight, babe. You will dream of me.]
This text revealed Aaron's love.
Nora smiled sweetly.
Nora put her phone aside and lay on the bed. After turning off the lights, she closed her eyes and prepared to sleep.
The night was quiet.
Nora turned over and held Aaron's pillow in her arms.
Nora thought, ‘How strange! I should be happy! No one will disturb me. I can sleep comfortably alone on a big bed tonight! But why can't I sleep?’
Nora closed her eyes. As she smelled Aaron's scent on the pillow in her arms, she felt his warm embrace.
Nora finally smiled. She shifted to a more comfortable position and fell asleep.
The next day, Nora woke up early and prepared breakfast.
Nora considered, ‘As long as Aaron doesn't make love to me, I can wake up early! I'm not lazy!’
"Nora, why did you wake up so early today? Is it because you couldn't sleep without Aaron at home?" Jacob woke up early, too. He was preparing to go for a walk and was surprised to see Nora coming downstairs.
Nora felt a bit embarrassed and quickly changed the topic. "Grandpa, it's chilly outside. Wear an extra coat when you go out," she reminded.
"Okay. I'll go for a walk first," Jacob replied and smiled.
Nora took a deep breath and went into the kitchen to make breakfast with the help of the maids.
After a while, she went to wake up her children.
The triplets woke up obediently.
But Millie, being younger, always had some difficulty getting up.
Seeing Nora coming to wake her up, Millie struggled to get out of bed and yawned. She rubbed her sleepy eyes with her small hands and sweetly asked, "Mommy, you're not lazy today because you woke up early."
Nora blushed and secretly cursed Aaron.
Nora mulled over, 'I'm not lazy! It's Aaron who made Millie believe I'm lazy! It's his fault!'
"Millie, actually, I like waking up early. If you see that I'm still not awake after you wake up, you can come and wake me up. Okay?" Nora said as she helped Millie get dressed.
Millie shook her head.
"No. Billy told me not to disturb you while you're sleeping. He says you're tired because you and Daddy make babies every night, so you need to sleep a little longer in the morning."
Nora was speechless.
Nora brooded, 'Why did Billy tell Millie these things?'
'Millie is such a naive child!'
Though angry, Nora wouldn't confront Billy because it would be too awkward.
Nora decided that she would punish Aaron when he came back!
After breakfast, Nora sent the children to school and went to Jason's laboratory.
Zephyr was chatting with Jason at that moment.
Nora dwelled on, 'Is Zephyr really here collaborating on a medical program with Jason?'
"Mr. Levelt, I'm here," Nora greeted Jason.
Jason greeted her, "Nora, you're here."
Jason smiled and said, "Let me introduce you to a doctor. This is Zephyr Wright. He just received an international medical award. He will be assisting us in researching the medical topic I showed you the other day."
Nora's guess was right.
Nora forced herself to smile, and said, "Mr. Wright, hello. Congratulations."
"Hello, Dr. Smith. We meet again. Let's work well together in the future," Zephyr greeted as he shook hands with Nora.
Jason looked at them. "Nora, have you known Dr. Wright for a while?" he asked.
"Yes. I've met him a few times before," Nora said.
"Since you both know each other, your collaboration will surely go smoothly," Jason remarked.
He looked at his watch, and said, "I'm not sure if Sandy will come today. It would be great if she could join our research project."
Upon hearing Jason's words, Zephyr looked expectantly toward the laboratory door.
Nora furrowed her brow, feeling a mix of emotions as she wondered whether she should anticipate Sandy's arrival.
Emotions are complicated.
Nora was afraid that Sandy and Zephyr working together would create unnecessary emotional entanglement.
After all, Sandy and Zephyr had once been in love.
But Sandy was now married to Kenneth, and they seemed deeply in love.
Nora really didn't want anything to happen between Sandy and Zephyr.
"We shouldn't wait for her. Let's start the meeting," Jason said, glancing at his watch again.
"Okay," Nora replied.
Zephyr looked disappointed as he glanced at the entrance once more. Zephyr wondered, ‘Does Sandy know that I am involved in this research project, so she didn't come?’
They prepared to enter the conference room when suddenly, they heard a woman's voice at the door.
"Sorry, I'm late," Sandy said.
Zephyr paused, happy, and meditated, 'That's Sandy's voice.'
'She's here!' he thought excitedly.
Zephyr turned abruptly and looked at Sandy.
But when Zephyr saw Sandy and Kenneth entering together, his smile froze. They walked hand in hand into the laboratory, looking like a perfect match, as they were both good-looking.
"Hello, Kenneth and Sandy," Nora greeted them with a smile.
"Nora," Kenneth nodded and greeted Jason. "Mr. Levelt, hello."
"Mr. Hamilton, I didn't expect you to come," Jason said with a smile.
Kenneth looked lovingly at Sandy, and stated, "I brought Sandy here. She said you were preparing a medical project and might need some funding. As her husband, I feel that I should contribute to her beloved medical career."
Jason's eyes brightened after hearing Kenneth's words. "Mr. Hamilton, are you saying that you want to sponsor our medical project?" he asked, enthusiastically.
Kenneth smiled and said, "May I?"
"Of course! Thank you very much," Jason said happily.
