Chapter 954 Deliberate Imitation
Seeing Gabriella's brief panic, Johnnie's eyes narrowed.
"You said you had a stomachache. Here's some freshly heated milk."
Gabriella was surprised. Watching Johnnie pour her a cup of hot milk, her heart, which had felt empty, seemed to fill up again.
"So you went out to heat up milk for me?"
"Yeah," Johnnie replied flatly.
Gabriella took the cup and smiled. "I thought you were mad because I joked about Mr. and Mrs. Gordon."
Johnnie stayed silent as she drank the milk.
Just then, Gabriella's phone beeped with a new message.
She paused, then continued drinking.
"It's still so fishy," she complained, frowning.
Johnnie glanced at her, then at her phone. "Your phone went off."
Gabriella nodded. "I'll check it after I finish."
She frowned as she finished the milk, then asked, "Where's the cake?"
Johnnie was silent for a moment, then went to his suitcase to find the small cake.
As he squatted down, Gabriella quickly checked her phone.
Rafael: [I look forward to it.]
She quickly deleted the message.
Johnnie, opening the suitcase, glanced up at her, then took out the cake.
"Here."
"Thanks."
Gabriella took the cake and thanked him.
Johnnie remained expressionless. "I'm going out. You should rest."
"Wait, I'll change and go with you," Gabriella said quickly.
Johnnie replied, "Didn't you say you had a stomachache?"
Gabriella smiled brightly. "Didn't I just drink the love-filled milk you heated for me? I feel much better."
Love-filled milk?
Johnnie felt a twinge of self-mockery. He knew Gabriella had ulterior motives, so why did he still heat milk for her?
"Wait for me, we'll watch the fireworks together."
Gabriella grabbed some clothes and her phone, heading to the bathroom.
Johnnie didn't say anything. After a while, he took out his phone and sent a message.
Gabriella quickly changed and came out of the bathroom in a yellow and white dress, a belt accentuating her slim figure. Her hair was casually tied up, and she had light makeup on.
She looked pure and mature, with a touch of gentleness.
Johnnie stared at her, his eyes flickering. When did Gabriella's style change so much?
When she came out, he almost thought it was Nora.
"Let's go."
Gabriella walked over, took his arm, and smiled brightly.
Johnnie wanted to pull away but did nothing and left with her expressionlessly.
In the elevator to the first floor, Gabriella called Nora to ask where she was.
Learning Nora was by the lake behind the estate, she and Johnnie walked there.
Dusk had fallen, and the sky was dotted with stars, reflecting the estate's lights, creating a beautiful scene.
Several boats were leisurely sailing on the lake, with melodious music echoing in the air.
Nora and a few others were standing by the lake, listening to the singing and enjoying the night.
As Gabriella and Johnnie approached, they noticed a gap between Aaron and Nora, while Nora and Mateo chatted happily.
Were Aaron and Nora still arguing?
Gabriella's eyes lit up with interest. She let go of Johnnie's arm and walked gracefully toward Aaron.
Johnnie watched her, then glanced at Nora, pursing his lips. Today, Nora wore a white dress, and the similar style of Gabriella's outfit made them look like twins from behind. Was Gabriella imitating Nora?
Gabriella reached Aaron and lightly patted him. Aaron turned around, surprised to see her.
He had been focused on Nora and Mateo, so Gabriella's appearance caught him off guard. Her outfit made her look a lot like Nora.
"Is there something on my face?" Gabriella asked, pleased with Aaron's reaction.
"You changed your look. I almost didn't recognize you," Aaron said.
"Don't I look good?" Gabriella asked.
Aaron glanced at Johnnie, who stood silently behind her. "You should ask your boyfriend."
Gabriella looked at Johnnie and giggled. "Do I even need to ask? Of course, he'd say I look good. Right, Johnnie?"
Johnnie raised his eyes slightly but said nothing.
Gabriella pretended to be upset. "If you say I don't look good, I'll be mad."
"You look good," Johnnie said flatly.
"Did you hear that?" Gabriella asked Aaron.
Aaron glanced at Johnnie, sensing something was off. Shouldn't Johnnie be more passionate if they were in the honeymoon phase? But his expression was too calm. Was it because they were around?
"Gabriella, you're here," Nora greeted coldly.
"Yeah, Nora, Mateo, you two were chatting so happily, I didn't want to interrupt."
Gabriella's comment about Nora and Mateo chatting happily made Aaron's face darken.
A hint of a smile flashed in Gabriella's eyes. "Mr. Gordon, why do you look so stern? Are you still jealous?"
Aaron didn't respond.
Gabriella pretended to advise, "Come on, the more you act like this, the more you'll push Nora away."
Aaron sneered. "I've spoiled her too much."
Gabriella said, "Isn't it because you like her?"
Aaron replied, "I do like her, but she can't take my affection for granted. Sooner or later, she'll exhaust my love."
Gabriella looked at his stern face and smoothed her hair. "Do you think Nora doesn't care about you anymore?"
Aaron didn't respond.
Gabriella's eyes shifted. "Mr. Gordon, do you want Nora to care about you?"
Aaron's eyes flickered. "What are you trying to say?"
Gabriella smiled. "I have a way to make Nora care about you."
"What way?"
"I'll tell you later."
Aaron glanced at her, his eyes unreadable.
Johnnie watched Gabriella and Aaron whispering, feeling a tightness in his chest. Could Aaron really be charmed by Gabriella? No, Aaron and Nora were just putting on a show for Gabriella. But with Gabriella dressed so similarly to Nora, could Aaron be seeing her as a replacement?
