Chapter 77 Have You Fallen for Her?

After giving the nurses a piece of her mind, they shared a look and quickly scurried off without another word.

Nora turned to Sue and thanked her with a smile, "Sue, thanks for having my back."

Sue waved it off nonchalantly and walked over to the window.

"I know it was you and Doctor Parker who performed the surgery on me; thanks a lot."

"Don't mention it."

Sue looked at Nora intently, "You're so beautiful, Nora. If you ever decide against being a doctor, hit me up. I'll make you a star."

Nora couldn't help but laugh.

"Sue, do you try to recruit every pretty girl you meet into show business?"

Sue raised her eyebrows playfully, "Of course not. I'm picky. Only a few can catch my attention."

Nora teased, "Should I take that as a compliment?"

Sue nodded, "Absolutely. You really do have a striking face. Why not consider it? Once I'm discharged, join me."

Nora's smile deepened, genuinely liking this young film director.

"How are you feeling today?"
Sue shifted in her bed. "Feeling good, I can be discharged now."

"That's not happening; you can't take your health for granted," Nora said sternly.

Sue pouted, "Why do you sound just like Dr. Parker?"

"Do you know Jack well?" Nora inquired, looking at her.

"Sort of. I needed medical materials for a show two years ago, and a friend introduced me to him. Dr. Parker got tied up in sharing numerous cases with me."

"And later, when my grandpa had a stroke, Jack performed the surgery and saved his life. He's kind of our family's hero. He operated on me this time, too. For saving my life twice, maybe I owe him something big, don't you think?" Sue joked.

The conversation had been serious, but Nora couldn't help laughing at the last remark.

"Sue, Jack is still single; you might have a chance. He's really a great guy."

"Is that so? Too bad he's oblivious to my flirting – the guy's as stiff as a board."

Sue scowled, then added, "But a man like him, once he's into someone, he's hooked."

Nora chuckled, "You sure know a lot, Sue."

"Comes with being a director; I've read too many scripts," Sue replied with a laugh. "Actually, Jack, you, and I are all about the same age."

Nora nodded with a smile, "Sue, it's been a pleasure meeting you. I've got to go now."

"Yeah, let's exchange contact information. You might change your mind one day and look me up."

Sue made the quip playfully, taking out her phone to exchange contacts with Nora.

Something crossed to her mind, and her expression sobered.

"Nora, you should find out who's tarnishing your reputation. I saw that video too – the doc throwing punches, that was Jack, right?"

At this, Nora's face tightened a bit.

The person who posted the video played their cards interestingly.

Everyone's face was visible except Jack's, which was blurred out.
Were they trying to protect Jack from being recognized?

So, the uploader might be familiar with Jack.

And they didn't want to implicate him.

A figure flashed through her mind, and Nora's eyes flickered with recognition.

If she wasn't wrong, the person behind the video was her!

After bidding farewell to Sue, Nora headed back to her office.

All eyes were on her as she walked in.

Their peculiar glances clued Nora in that they had seen the blog post, too.

Dr. Luna scoffed, "We've got our own celebrity scandal. Nora, you're becoming quite the hospital sensation."

Howard entered the room, his face clouded with displeasure.
"Nora, could you please keep a lid on your personal life? Do you understand how many people are monitoring this research project? Let's not be the weak link here, okay?"

Dr. Hamilton smirked with satisfaction. "Dr. Hamilton, maybe you should just fire her before she messes up our entire project."
Nora glanced at her, her voice cool and even. "Dr. Hamilton, you posted those blog entries, didn't you? You fancy Jack, but he's been spending time with me, so you've turned me into your imagined rival, deliberately smearing me with a couple of misleading videos? Who's really harming the team here? Someone like you, Jack, definitely wouldn't be interested—he can see right through your malice."

At her words, Dr. Hamilton's face turned a color reminiscent of thunderous skies. She bolted upright, indignant. "What nonsense are you spouting? Your own indiscretions have been caught out; don't try to pin that mess on me!"

Nora remained unfazed. "I have a clear conscience about my actions! Unlike you, who doesn't have the courage to own up."

"Enough, knock it off," intervened Howard, visibly annoyed with the exchange. Turning to Nora, he chided, "Nora, you're quick-witted, but please focus on your work. You disappeared again. Have you completed the case analysis I assigned?"

Nora nodded. "It's done. I'll email it to you right away."

Howard narrowed his eyes, skepticism written all over his face. "Done already? Are you sure you didn't just rush through it to get it done?"

"Dr. Hamilton, I would never compromise our medical work,."

Nora booted up her computer and sent the case analysis to Howard's inbox.

Meanwhile, atan upscale restaurant in Houston.

In a private dining room, Aaron and Lucas sat opposite each other, a spread of dishes between them.

"Aaron, inviting me out to dinner... You got something on your mind?"

Lucas poured tea for Aaron, showing utmost respect. He couldn't believe Aaron had taken the initiative to invite him out.

It was an honor of the highest sort.

Aaron took a sip of his tea before speaking, his voice steady. "Lucas, I wanted to talk to you about expediting your divorce with Nora."
Those words wiped the smile from Lucas's face. "No, Aaron, I don't want to divorce Nora. I love her, and I want to save our marriage."

Aaron met his gaze. "But she has no intention of coming back to you."

Lucas's expression darkened. "Aaron, we're family. You shouldn't be pushing me to divorce Nora."

Aaron's demeanor cooled further. "And if I insist?"

Lucas looked up sharply. "Aaron, I know Nora saved your life. Did she ask you to convince me to agree to the divorce?"
"No, I think you should just agree to the divorce," Aaron said.

Lucas's eyes flickered, "Aaron, I saw you picking up the kids with Nora. Are you into her? Is that why you want her to divorce me?"

Aaron was usually indifferent, but taking such mundane tasks for someone else could only mean he cared.
