Chapter 417 Is She Seducing You?

"Archer from the Remington family."

Howard walked to the dining table and sat down, ready to eat breakfast.

"He called you for something?" Emma sat down across from him.

He took the coffee the servant handed to him and replied, "Yes, he did."

She asked again, "You didn't come home last night; where were you?"

After sipping the coffee, his gaze flickered slightly. "I stayed at a hotel because I was out late with friends."

Hearing this, she didn't ask further.

After all, her second son wasn't young anymore. She also hoped he'd spend more time with his friends outside and maybe befriend some nice girls.

It was better than being in the lab doing experiments all day.

"By the way, have you met Miss Romero, whom I mentioned to you last time? If you haven't, I happen to have lunch plans with Mrs. Romero today. Why don't you come along and meet them?"

Was this a way for him to indirectly meet them?

Howard frowned and replied, "Mom, please don't worry about my affairs. I don't like dating in this way."

Even if he wanted to a girlfriend, he wanted to find one he liked.

Evella's figure suddenly flashed in his mind.

His gaze flickered slightly as he looked down.

If he had to meet Miss Romero, he'd rather marry Evella.

"Howard, your circle is too narrow. If I don't pay attention to your marriage, when will you find a girlfriend?" Emma said unhappily.

He glanced at her, swallowing the sandwich as he deliberately asked, "Mom, didn't you say that Grandma and Mrs. Remington Senior had an agreement for me to marry Evella?"

Hearing this, Emma was even more unhappy.

"It was just a joke; you don't have to pay attention to those things. If you like Miss Romero, I'll let you marry her."

Let him marry Miss Romero?

He quickly said, "Mom, I don't like Miss Romero."

Emma was confused. "Howard, you haven't even seen her. How do you know you don't like her?"

He fell silent for a moment. "I'm a descendant of the Hamiltons, so I should listen to the elders' suggestions."

With these words, Emma looked at him suspiciously.

"Are you implying you'd marry that Evella from the Remingtons?"

Howard sipped his coffee, "If Grandma and Mrs. Remington Senior have decided, then I don't mind."

She stared at his face, raising her hand to touch his forehead.

"Howard, are you running a fever, or are you stimulated? Weren't you strongly against this marriage before? Why did you suddenly change?"

He coughed lightly, "I think Evella is also alright."

Emma's face darkened, "Alright? She's the daughter of a rapist. Who doesn't know what kind of person her father is? Someone like her, even if she's the Remington family's heiress, is inherently lowly. I disagree with you marrying her!"

She said that with a hint of sarcasm.

Howard's eyebrows furrowed. "Mom, she is she, and her parents are her parents. What era are we in? Are you still promoting guilt by association?"

Emma stared at him, her eyes doubtful once again.

"Son, you never used to have this kind of mindset. Did someone brainwash you? Did Nora tell you something? Evella has always had a good relationship with Nora, so did she persuade you to marry Evella?"

It wasn't surprising that she'd think like this.

After all, Howard's ideology used to align closely with hers.

Although he never wanted to get married, he understood the importance of social status in relationships.

But now...

"No way!"

Howard was afraid his mother would be mad at Nora, so he was straightforward.

"Mommy, let me tell you the truth; I spent the night with Evella at a hotel last night. As a man, I should take responsibility for her. So as long as the Remington family asks for it, I'll marry her."

At this moment, he suddenly realized that he was quite stubborn in the past.

In the past, he always stressed about social compatibility, so when Aaron abandoned Suzy and wanted to be with Nora, he always thought Nora was unworthy of Aaron.

Deep down, he did have old-fashioned family values.

That was until just now when he got uncomfortable from his mother criticizing Evella.

Suddenly, he realized that he cared about Evella, regardless of her status. He could ignore everything else if he liked her.

He also understood why Aaron chose Nora.

The collision of hearts had nothing to do with family power.

That was a spiritual pleasure; one that neither money nor power could give.

"What did you say? You slept with Evella?!"

Emma's eyes widened, unable to believe her ears.

Howard coughed lightly, his right fist against his lips.

"Yes."

If he said he didn't, his mother would definitely oppose it to the end.

It was better to admit this mistake.

Emma stared at him, "Howard, did she seduce you? I warned you that she has a naturally low character, capable of stooping to such levels…!"

He was speechless.

"Mom, no; it was me who brought her to the hotel while she was drunk. I was the impulsive one. Mom, I don't like it when you criticize her. Please don't do it again."

After that, he finished his coffee in one breath and then stood up, saying, "I'm going to be busy now."

Emma stared at his tall figure, her brows furrowing.

Why weren't her kids obedient anymore?

No, it used to be so easy with this family.

Both the old and the young listened to her.

But now, they all disregarded her!

It's all because Nora appeared!

Emma was furious!

Did she have to watch her son marry a woman she didn't like?

She was feeling annoyed, about to go upstairs with a cold face when Suzy returned.

"Mom."

At this moment, Suzy had red and tearful eyes, a clear palm print on her face.

Emma was surprised and quickly asked, "Suzy, what happened to you? Who hit you?"

"Mommy, it was that jerk Jackson! I can't stand him anymore; I want a divorce!" Suzy sobbed while holding Emma.

Emma patted her back and said, "Don't worry, sit down and tell me slowly. What happened? Why did he hit you?"

Suzy sat down while still sobbing, taking the tissue Emma handed over to wipe her tears.

"Jackson has been seeing another woman; he bought her a car and a house, planning to have an affair with her. When I found out, I couldn't take it and argued with him."

"However, he actually said that the other woman can bring him business, so he won't leave her. If I'm unhappy about it, he suggested getting a divorce! I got furious and kicked him there. He got angry and slapped me back! He even said that if I wanted to continue this marriage, I'll have to accompany him to entertain clients, and he wants me to smile and charm them next time!"
