Chapter 80 Planning to Be Together After the Divorce?
Aaron's words left George visibly rattled.
"I wouldn’t dare! Mr. Gordon, it's my bad for not schooling her. I'm sorry."
Aaron's expression remained impassive. "The one who should be apologizing isn't you. Whoever caused this should bear the responsibility. George, if you don't, it could tank your career."
His tone was even, but it brought a fine sheen of sweat to George's brow.
"Yes, I'll see to it that my daughter sorts this out immediately."
George left the office, his anger burning as he dialed Dr. Luna's number.
"Luna, where are you? Get to my office, now!"
The president's suite.
Noah bid farewell to George and immediately received a call from his firm's legal department.
The divorce between Nora and Lucas was finalized.
He hurried to share the news with Aaron.
"Mr. Gordon, the lawyer, has taken care of Nora's divorce proceedings," Noah relayed.
Aaron was hardly surprised, gave a cool acknowledgment, and delved back into his work.
Noticing Aaron's focus, Noah ventured, "Mr. Gordon, you've been at it all afternoon. Maybe it's time to head home and rest?"
Aaron glanced at his watch, and a softness flickered in his eyes.
"I'll pick up the kids and head back after that."
"Okay."
Noah nodded, thinking Aaron was truly becoming a family man!
Meanwhile, Suzy headed into Gordon Group and took the elevator straight to the 29th floor.
She was on a mission to Jackson Gordon's office. The elevator's reflective walls cast her silhouette, and Suzy flicked her hair next to her ear with a smirk on her lips.
The elevator hit the 29th floor, and she made her way toward Jackson's office. By chance, Jackson stepped out just as Suzy arrived. Pretending to be frustrated, Suzy briskly turned to leave.
Jackson noticed her and quickly followed.
"Suzy, why walk away on seeing me"
"Jackson, I got off on the wrong floor."
Suzy shrugged off Jackson and strode toward the stairwell.
Jackson smirked as he pursued her into the stairwell and pinned her against the wall.
"Jackson, stop it!" Suzy protested, pushing against his chest.
Jackson leaned in with a taunting smile. "Do you know, Suzy, I dream of you every night? How am I worse than Aaron? Sure, there are plenty of women around me, but they're just stand-ins for you. Marry me, Suzy, and I swear I'll be devoted to you."
With that, he kissed her without waiting for consent.
Disgust flashed in Suzy's eyes as she struggled slightly.
Her hand then covertly reached for his head, plucking a few strands of hair.
Ever since she saw Nora's three children, she hwondered if Jackson had been with her. She planned to do a DNA test between Jackson and Nora's kids.
If those kids were Jackson's, she would be doing a grand favor by setting Nora up with a wealthy family.
This way, Aaron would stand no chance of having feelings for his sister-in-law.
She had just eliminated a potential rival.
After triumphing, Suzy shoved Jackson away with force.
"Jackson, I don't like you. Please respect yourself and stop harassing me. Otherwise, I'm definitely going to have Aaron stand up for me!"
Having said that, she quickly left through the emergency exit, heading for the CEO's office.
Jackson licked his thin lips, an expression of lingering desire on his face.
He strode after her, grabbing Suzy's arm.
"Suzy, wait a second."
Just then, the door to the CEO's office opened, and Aaron was being wheeled out by Noe.
With a flash of determination in her eyes, Suzy swiftly turned around and slapped Jackson.
"Jackson, don't touch me. I belong to Aaron!"
The unexpected slap darkened Jackson's face.
Squinting his eyes in anger, he hissed, "Suzy, how dare you slap me?"
Suzy played the part of the frightened dove, as if she had just noticed Aaron, and pulled herself from Jackson's grip, running towards Aaron with tears rimming her eyes.
"Aaron."
Aaron's face darkened at the sight of Suzy's smeared lipstick.
"Jackson, i watch out. Playing with fire might get you burned."
Jackson scoffed. "Aaron if you're not up to it, don't waste a good woman by your side."
He had barely finished speaking when a sharp pain in his shin made him lurch forward, dropping to one knee in a pose of submission.
Jackson looked up at Aaron in astonishment.
Aaron's voice was cold and quiet, "Jackson, if you lay a hand on her again, next time, it won't just be your shin."
The authority in his tone was palpable.
Jackson rose, his face an ashen hue of humiliation.
He straightened his clothes, eyes filled with dark intent.
"Aaron, we'll see about this!"
Watching Jackson turn to leave, Suzy allowed herself a triumphant smile.
Aaron's protection surely meant he couldn't be indifferent to her.
She must have been momentarily blinded by Nora.
Men always craved novelty.
Especially for men of Aaron's status, it was normal to have women around.
So, as long as she played her cards right, she would undoubtedly be the one standing by Aaron's side in the end.
"Suzy, are you okay?" Aaron asked with concern.
Suzy, feigning vulnerability, shook her head, "I'm fine."
Aaron advised, "Take care of yourself in the future and keep your distance from him."
"Alright."
With a soft voice, Suzy saw Aaron was about to leave and inquired, "Aaron, are you leaving? Heading back to Nora's place?"
Aaron responded indifferently.
Suzy's eyes flickered, feigning hesitation, "Aaron, there's something I'm not sure whether I should tell you about."
"What is it?" Aaron asked.
Decisively, Suzy took out her phone and found a picture.
"When I was coming into the office, I saw Nora with a man checking out houses. They seemed pretty close. Do you think she's planning to move in with him after her divorce from Lucas?"
Aaron's eyes locked onto the photo, his demeanor turning icy in an instant.
He'd been dealing with a string of problems for her, and here she was, casually house-hunting with Jack!
Could it be that Suzy's suggestion held some truth, implying she planned to shack up with Jack once the divorce was finalized?
At the hospital, Nora returned after looking at houses.
In the research office, Dr. Luna was not at her desk, and the others were still immersed in analyzing the case studies provided by Howard.
Soon after, Howard entered, a stack of papers in hand.
"How is everyone doing with their case analysis? Let's have a meeting."
All except Nora appeared troubled; each wore an expression of concern.
"Dr. Hamilton, I've looked through a lot of data and just can't come up with a surgical plan."
“I do have a surgical plan, Dr. Hamilton, but even writing it made me uneasy."
"Same here."
