Chapter 573 Marriage

Nora spent some time with Sandy in the fishing village and then took a plane back.

In the villa, Emma went for a follow-up checkup today, and her body was recovering well, so her mood was good.

At this moment, she was sitting on the sofa making a phone call.

As soon as Nora entered, she heard Emma's laughter.

"Okay, Rachel's birthday is in a couple of days. I will make sure Howard comes to the party... Alright, that's settled!" Emma said.

Emma wanted Howard to attend the party?

What party?

Nora walked over and sat down next to Emma.

She asked, "Mom, who are you talking to on the phone?"

Emma said with a smile, "It's Mrs. Romero. Her daughter Rachel is having a birthday in a couple of days, and she invited Howard to join the celebration."

Rachel?

Nora thought for a moment and said, "Mom, I heard that the Romero family intends to arrange a marriage with Howard?"

She remembered that Emma had always wanted Howard to meet Rachel.

Was she still thinking about it now?

"Yes, Mrs. Romero and I have a good relationship, and we do have that intention," Emma said, "Rachel just returned to the country; she looks even more beautiful in person than in photos. She is well-educated and a good match for Howard. Howard is also at the age to get married."

Upon hearing this, Nora quickly said, "Mom, I forgot to tell you, Howard has started dating Evella."

She hoped Emma could stop meddling recklessly!

"Howard is dating Evella? When did this happen?" Emma frowned, displeased. "Is the Remington family once again interested in Howard? Didn't Maisie say last time that they didn't want to arrange a marriage with our Hamilton family?"

Nora said, "No, it's not like that. This time, it's Howard's idea. A few days ago at the charity gala, he publicly acknowledged his relationship with Evella."

Upon hearing this, Emma's frown deepened. She said, "Why is he acting on his own? I've said before, although Evella is from the Remington family, her father is a rapist. Howard has a noble status; how can he marry such a woman?"

Nora strongly disagreed, saying,  "Mom, you shouldn't always judge people based on their status. It does not necessarily determine a person's inherent goodness."

Emma said, "Nora, you didn't grow up in the Hamilton family, so you don't understand the rules of high society. In any case, your brother, being so pure and noble, must be matched with a very virtuous girl. Evella is not a good match for Howard. I will not agree to Evella marrying Howard."

Seeing Emma's stubborn expression, Nora felt somewhat helpless.

She didn't blame Emma for having such thoughts.

After all, Emma came from a prominent background and had long-held entrenched ideas.

It was not easy to change her mind.

So, Nora could only advise gently.

She said, "Mom, let him make his own choices. You may worry less about the children's affairs and focus more on yourself. isn't that better? Look, you have more white hair again."

Upon hearing this, Emma subconsciously touched her forehead, saying, "Really? I didn't notice this morning."

Nora said seriously, "Really. Mom, don't worry so much. Take some time to go to the spa, play cards with your old friends, and pass the time."

Upon hearing this, Emma sighed and said, "When sitting with friends, I naturally talk about our children. I used to be proud of Kenneth's marriage. Now, I am proud of your engagement with Aaron. The only one left is Howard."

"Those ladies in the circle are gossiping about Evella again, and that's why I don't I like Evella. You probably don't know; those people may not say anything on the surface, but they have always looked down on Evella because of her mentally ill mother. If Howard marries Evella in the future, won't our family be ridiculed?"

Nora understood. In simpler terms, Emma cared about her reputation.

Because when Evella's mother was young, she was raped, which led to Evella's birth. Later, due to losing Evella, her mother developed a mental illness and now lived in a nursing home.

So, those society ladies all believed that even though the Remington family was prestigious, Evella still had a stain on herself.

Emma cared a lot about her reputation and naturally didn't want to be constantly criticized by those ladies.

After a moment of silence, Nora spoke loudly, "Mom, who dares to ridicule you? Our family and the Remington family in Lindwood City are among the top families. If they slander you, confront them! Whatever happens, Dad will support you. Aaron and I will support you, too!"

Her bold and arrogant demeanor amused Emma.

"You always know how to make me happy!" Emma said happily.

Nora smiled and leaned her head on Emma's shoulder.

She said, "Mom, I just hope that our family can live in harmony and peace in the days to come."

Upon hearing this, Emma sighed and asked, "When do you think Kenneth will wake up?"

Indeed, what they most ardently desired at this moment was for Kenneth to awaken promptly.

Nora stood up and said, "Mom, I'm going to the pharmacy."

She was going to try a different medicine for Kenneth.

As for the scar on Sandy's face, she also needed to hurry up and make a repair cream.

They needed to reunite as a family.

At Imperial City Hospital, as a specialist in cardiovascular diseases, Howard was once again invited by William to the hospital for a consultation to perform a coronary artery bypass surgery on a sixty-four-year-old patient.

The patient's heart condition was relatively serious.

Before the surgery, the patient's son, Chris Lee, was very nervous and insisted on having a private chat with Howard.

Howard was discussing the surgery in William's office when his assistant informed him that Chris wanted to see him, so he met Chris outside William's office.

"Mr. Lee, don't worry; your father's condition is still manageable, and the success rate of the bypass surgery will be high," Howard reassured him.

Chris, who was under forty, a regular worker, pulled Howard towards the security door and then smiled gratefully. "Thank you, Dr. Hamilton; I entrust my father's surgery to you; please save him."

Howard nodded. "Rest assured, I will do my best."

Chris took out an envelope from his jacket pocket and handed it to Howard, saying, "Dr. Hamilton, please take this."

After speaking, he quickly left.

Howard was taken aback; he looked down at the envelope in his hand.

The envelope was thick. He opened it and saw a stack of bills, estimated at around three thousand dollars.

Chris actually gave him money!
