Chapter 371 Making Choices.

Edric looked determined and said, "Dr. Smith, I didn't want to rekindle old feelings with Anna; you have misunderstood me. If you want to investigate, go ahead and immediately check the surveillance!"

The surveillance indeed captured the scene just now. However, Edric had not initiated anything, and even if he saw it, he remained calm and had nothing to fear.

Nora tightened her face, not expecting Edric to be so firm. He denied it even when caught. Had she misunderstood him?

"Edric, Anna, why are you both standing outside talking? Why don't you come in?" Flynt, the musician, came out. Casually dressed, with a shiny black earring on his ear, which stood out under the lights.

Anna touched her paralyzed hand and felt restless. "Edric, are you still going to let me handle the client for you?" she asked, pitifully.

Edric frowned but did not speak.

Nora glanced at Anna, glaring icily.

This wasn't the first time. If it were Nora who misunderstood Edric, it could only mean that Anna had been trying to seduce him!

"Edric, I can let Jenny stay with you, but I have a condition," Anna said. Edric's eyes lit up, "What condition?"

"You must choose between Jenny and the business. If you want to continue with Jenny, you can no longer have any contact with this woman."

Edric wanted Anna to handle the client for him, right? Then she would let him make his own choice!

Edric hesitated. If he had severed ties with Anna, she wouldn't have been able to entertain the important client who was arriving later that day. However, he had already committed to the client, and breaching that trust would probably result in losing the client.

Anna's expression shifted subtly. "Edric, consider this carefully. Your business with Mr. Kevin is valued in billions. Are you truly willing to jeopardize this deal for a mere woman?"

Upon hearing this, Edric's face turned pale in anger. He took Jenny's shoulder in his grasp and said, "Who said Jenny is an insignificant woman? She is my fiancee."

n that moment, Anna abandoned all pretense. "Edric, I am aware that you still cherish me deeply in your heart. Your drastic transformation and pursuit of pleasure following my departure are clear indicators. I comprehend the lingering resentment you harbor towards me, which may have driven you to seek solace in another woman.

"It's understandable. Take the time you need to come to terms with it. I have returned to revisit our shared history, firmly believing that I occupy the most significant place in your heart. It is time to end things with her."

Upon hearing Anna's words, Nora sneered and drew Jenny closer to her side. "Edric, do you have anything to say in response to this?"

Caught between the two women's tug of war, Jenny gazed at Edric, her fingers tightly clenched.

Did Edric really love Anna, as she claimed?

Edric's forehead wrinkled as he responded to Anna, "Anna, don't delude yourself. I made it clear to you that our past is behind us. I only see you as a normal friend now. Please don't get carried away with your emotions."

Anna couldn't bear what he was saying; she reached out with her other undamaged hand and tried to pull him closer.

"Edric, can you please stop deceiving yourself? I don't believe that you don't love me anymore. Do you remember the meaning of our band's name? Love stands for love, and B stands for my last name, which means that you will always love me. Edric, please don't be mad at me. Can't we start again?" Anna pleaded.

Upon hearing this, Edric's face turned cold. He forcefully let go of Anna's hand. "Anna, do you really want me to be harsh with you? Yes, I came up with the band name, and yes, I did love you at one point. But that love ended when you started fooling around with your mentor. What do you take me for, a spare tire? Are you overestimating your charm," he said furiously.

Anna's face shifted through various emotions. "Edric, I..."

"All right, you don't have to say anything more." Edric waved his hand, interrupting her. "I was wrong. I shouldn't have seen you as just a friend. An ex who meets the criteria should be treated as if they no longer exist. I don't need you in my collaboration with Mr. Kevin. Leave now, and let's not see each other anymore."

With that, he pulled Jenny closer again, and a cold smile appeared on his face as he said, "Jenny, are you hungry? Let's go eat."

Jenny still had some doubts but allowed Edric to lead her forward.

Anna watched their retreating figures, her face filled with anger and frustration. She called out Edric's name, wanting to catch up to them, but Nora stopped her.

"Anna, if you truly want to be disabled, I don't mind helping you," Nora's face remained calm and emotionless while she threatened her.

Anna instinctively took a step back, glancing at her right arm, which was completely numb. She exclaimed, "Quickly, help me undo it!"

"Sorry, I'm too busy," Nora said as she smirked coldly and walked away.

Anna's face twisted in anger.

Flynt, who was standing nearby, looked shocked. "Anna, your hand..." he suggested, "Come with me to the hospital quickly."

Anna was furious, thinking of something else. She added, "And tell the rest of the band not to stay here. Get them to leave immediately."

Since Edric refused to reconcile with her, why should she rush to help him secure clients? She wanted to see if Edric could still manage to close that deal without her intervention! She would make him realize that she, Anna, was the only one who could be his wife.

At Room 3088.

Jenny remained silent, making Edric nervous. He tightly held her hand, asking, "Jenny, don't you believe me?"

Jenny looked into his eyes and fell deep into thought. Men with eyes like his were usually charming and flirtatious. And with his good family background and handsome face, could she trust that he had no intention of getting back together with Anna?

"Jenny, please say something!" Edric grew anxious. At that moment, Nora walked in and coldly stared at him with her clear eyes. Edric's heart began to race again in fear. Why did it feel scarier to see Dr. Smith than to see his mother-in-law?

"Dr. Smith, I swear on my life that what you witnessed were mere misunderstandings. If I'm lying even a little, then let a car hit me on my way out and have my child..." Edric tried to explain.

"Enough!" Nora interjected.

Edric fell silent, his attention fixed on Nora. She sighed and turned to Jenny. "Jenny, what's going through your mind now? Will you trust him or choose to end things?" she asked.

Edric braced himself, his gaze locked on Jenny. He frantically explained, "Jenny, you have to trust me. Anna and I are truly a thing of the past."

Jenny composed herself and inquired softly, "Edric, what misunderstandings is Nora talking about?"

Edric replied, "It's like this. I mentioned it to you a few days ago. When I went to see Anna's performance, Dr. Smith misunderstood the situation that happened to me."

"How was it a misunderstanding?" Jenny asked.

Edric glanced at Nora and felt a chill in her cold gaze, inexplicably feeling nervous. Why did it feel like he was being interrogated? He was truly innocent!

Edric started to recount the events, "Well, at the time, Anna asked me to help her zip up her dress. When I was assisting her, she suddenly turned and hugged my neck. It was then that Dr. Smith happened to see us."

Noticing Jenny's expression changed slightly, Edric quickly added, "I swear, I didn't have any intentions toward her."
