Chapter 103 Counterattack

"You were out cold from too much drink; we couldn't wake you up. Thought you were poisoned by alcohol. Thankfully, Nora used her acupuncture to snap you out of it," Amelia chided.

Mr. Smith quickly thanked Nora.

Nora grinned. "You might still feel a bit dizzy, sir. Go back to your room, have some water, and rest."

"Alright."

Mr. Smith agreed and headed back to his room with his wife.

Gayle escorted the couple back to their room, glaring at Nora as he left.

Nora ignored his gaze and pushed Aaron to return to their room.

As soon as they entered, Aaron asked, "What happened? They said I went to get you, but where did you go?"

Nora didn't conceal the truth. "A waiter came looking for me, claiming you wanted to see me, and led me to suite 308. Someone had set up an aromatic trap, and Mr. Smith was lying inside. If I hadn't carried my silver needles, both Mr. Smith's and my reputations could have been ruined."

Upon hearing this, Aaron's eyes filled with a cold sharpness.
"This has to be Gayle's scheme," Aaron deduced with a hint of frustration. "He saw you and Amelia hitting it off and worried she might sway Mr. Smith to reconsider partnering with us. So he planned to frame you. Amelia would be done with you if anything happens between you and Mr. Smith today, let alone the partnership; our families would be at each other's throats. And, of course, everyone would think I was behind it."

Nora found her own suspicions aligned perfectly with Aaron's analysis.

"How could Gayle be so despicable? Thomas, should we hit back?" Nora asked, her voice seething with indignation. She wasn't about to take this lying down.

If she hadn't been carrying her silver needle today, she would've been in serious trouble!

"Hit back? Absolutely." Aaron's voice was ice-cold, his anger palpable. He was itching for someone to give Gayle a taste of his own medicine.

"Good. Thomas, call Mr. Wilson now," she said with urgency.

Nora glanced at the clock; it was time for the kids to get out of school.

Aaron raised an eyebrow, the glint of interest in his eyes not going unnoticed. "What's the plan?"

"I need Alex to check the hotel's security footage from last night," Nora revealed.

"Why the hotel security footage?"

Aaron knew Alex was a computer whiz, so this request didn't surprise him. What he was curious about was Nora's endgame.

As his temporary secretary and personal doctor, she always had a few tricks up her sleeve.

"This morning, I noticed some marks on Finn's neck. She's Gayle's PR manager, and they've always been flirty with each other. Tell me, considering Gayle's character, do you think he'd keep his hands off such a beautiful woman?" Nora inquired.

Aaron's eyes narrowed slightly as he pondered. "Chances are Gayle slept with Finn."

"Exactly. And he's over forty, bound to have a family, right? What do you think would happen if his wife found out about his affair with a subordinate?"

That was her reason for wanting the security footage.

Aaron chuckled, "If his wife finds out about his affair with a subordinate, the fallout would be severe. Gayle's success is largely due to his wife's family influence. So, if his wife sees that video, we'll have quite a show to watch today!"

Nora's eyebrows danced upwards. "Well, what are we waiting for? Make that call to Mr. Wilson!"

Their gazes met shared resolve reflecting in their eyes.

Aaron promptly dialed Noe's number, and the call connected almost immediately.

"Mr. Gordon."

"Noe, did you pick up the kids?" Aaron queried.

"Just got them home."

"Have them video call Nora."

"Sure thing."

With a few clicks, the video came to life, revealing three smiling children on the screen.
"Mr. Gordon!"

Three kids greeted Aaron with well-mannered enthusiasm as they saw him.

Aaron responded with a smile and then handed the phone over to Nora.

"Mom."

The triplets called out again, Nora's lips curled into a small smile, turning first to Alex. "Alex, I need your help with something."

At these words, Alex straightened up with alertness. "What do you need, Mom?"

He loved it when his mom asked for his help!

"I need you to check the security cameras."

Nora shared her thoughts with Alex.

Alex listened carefully, nodding. "Got it, Mom. Give me ten minutes."

"Okay."

Nora's smile was one of trust in Alex's hacking skills.

Once he left, Billy queried, "Mom, are you and Mr. Gordon in some kind of trouble?"

Nora chuckled, "Kind of."

"Mom, what kind of trouble are you and Mr. Gordon in? Billy and I can help too!" Samantha leaned into the camera's view.

Touched by her doe eyes, Nora felt a surge of affection.

"Just do as Noe says and keep up with your schoolwork; that's how you can help."

Samantha tilted her head. "Mom, we're really good at home. But our teacher assigned a clay modeling project for homework, and I'm not sure how to do it. What should I do?"

Nora blinked and glanced at Aaron. If she were at home, she could teach the kids to model with clay.

"Samantha, if you're unsure, just ask Noe to help you," Aaron chimed in.

Noe hurried to the camera. "Okay, Mr. Gordon. But my crafting could use some work — I just hope I don't end up embarrassing them."

Inside, he was silently wishing for Mr. Gordon and Nora to return soon.

Childcare was no easy feat.

He'd rather be closing multimillion-dollar deals alongside Mr. Gordon!

"Noe, if you embarrass the kids, your next assignment will be to enroll in craft classes until you can make something we can all be proud of," Aaron commanded.

Noe agreed, but he groaned internally.

Mr. Gordon had sent him to study psychology, manners, and now crafts.

He was becoming a jack of all trades!

"Mom, Mr. Gordon, can’t you come back today?" Samantha asked softly, batting her large eyes.

Nora looked to Aaron, waiting for him to answer.

Aaron paused. "Looks like we can't make it back today, probably tomorrow."
If they could leverage something on Gayle, they might be able to turn the tables on the deal.

"Mr. Gordon, so are you bunking with mom tonight?"
Samantha asked, tilting her head with a hint of mischief.

Nora was speechless. "Samantha, stop spouting nonsense."

Aaron chuckled, "Samantha, don't be so blunt."

At the other end, Samantha giggled behind her hand.

Nora glared at Aaron. "Thomas, if you talk nonsense one more time, I swear I'll head back right now."

Aaron raised an eyebrow. "Don’t you want to get your revenge?"

Nora choked, "As soon as I've had my revenge, I'm gone."

Aaron's eyes gleamed with indulgence. "Fine, after you've had your revenge, I'll leave with you."

Nora fell silent.
Could someone please not look at her with such a tender and doting gaze?
It was embarrassingly awkward.

"Mom, I found the surveillance footage and sent it to your phone."
Pride on his face, Alex leaned close to the camera, having accomplished his mission.

Nora's expression turned serious, and she quickly pulled out her phone to watch the video Alex had sent.
