Chapter 651 I Can Take You Away

Noe felt a chill down his spine for no reason and sneezed inexplicably. He had a feeling of being targeted by something.

Seraphina, unaware of Noe's thoughts, curiously asked Nora and Aaron, "So, deep down, is losing each other what you both fear the most"

Aaron glanced at Nora and gently embraced her, saying, "Yes, I can lose everything, but I can't lose Nora."

Aaron's tone was gentle and firm, with a hint of affection.

Nora was moved, not wanting to confess as openly as Aaron, yet her beautiful eyes seemed to shimmer with unspoken love.

Noe saw Aaron and Nora showing affection again and could only look up at the sky in silence.

One day, he would find a woman and show affection in front of Aaron and Nora!

Noe subconsciously looked at Seraphina.

Seraphina had a calm and gentle face, looking like a good girl.

Noe's mind inexplicably recalled the dream he had when he fell asleep just now.

In the dream, he was kissing a woman, and the woman's face was becoming clearer at this moment.

Damn it! The girl in the dream turned into Seraphina's face.

Did he inhale the white mist, too?

Noe swallowed and quickly stopped his thoughts, not letting himself wander.

The moonlight shone overhead, and they were waiting for dawn to return to Elara, so they didn't leave immediately but rested in place.

Nora repeatedly watched the video she had just taken, pondering how the illusion was created.

Her attention was drawn to several plants by the bridge.

She studied Herbalism and loved researching drugs, so she had some knowledge of most plants.

Nora enlarged the video and squinted to look carefully.

"Did you find anything unusual?" Seeing Nora's expression, Aaron knew she must have found something.

"Yes," Nora said.

"What?" Aaron asked.

Nora pointed to the plants in the video and said, "There are many mushrooms growing by the bridge, and these mushrooms are not ordinary. I read in a medical book that among these color-changing mushrooms, some are called Gymnopilus spectabilis, some are called Psilocybe cubenElara. These mushrooms contain factors that can induce hallucinations."

Aaron leaned over to watch the video with Nora, raised his eyebrows, and asked, "So the hallucinations on the bridge are not caused by the white mist but by the effects of the plants? However, mushrooms are not liquid, so only if they are ingested would hallucinations occur."

Nora naturally also thought of this point and nodded. "Indeed, that's the case. So the hallucinations on the bridge are not only due to poisonous mushrooms; there may be other substances involved, and its combination with the poisonous mushrooms induces hallucinations."

As the sound fell, Noe slapped his arm.

Everyone's gaze turned to Noe, who scratched his arm awkwardly and smiled. "Sorry, I didn't mean to disturb you; a mosquito just bit me."

Aaron withdrew his gaze and looked at Nora, subconsciously waving around her.

He asked, "Nora, did you get bitten by mosquitoes?"

Nora subconsciously wanted to shake her head but suddenly had a flash of insight. "I understand, it's the mosquitoes!"

Everyone was stunned, and Noe asked, "What mosquitoes?"

Nora looked at the ethereal bridge and said, "Mosquitoes bit the poisonous mushrooms, then bit the people on the bridge, spreading the toxins from the poisonous mushrooms to the people, causing hallucinations."

This explanation made sense.

Seraphina and Noe both had a look of sudden realization.

Aaron raised his eyebrows, his eyes full of tenderness. He said, "Makes sense; you are indeed smart, honey!"

Now, looking at Aaron's overly affectionate expression, Noe rubbed the spot where a mosquito bit him and looked up at the sky, thinking, 'Aaron, we know you and Nora are in love, but can you tone it down a bit?'

"So that's it. We always thought there were rare elements in the river, but we overlooked these plants," Seraphina looked at Nora, saying admiringly, "Dr. Smith, you are indeed smart."

Nora felt a bit embarrassed by the praise and glanced at Noe, who was looking up at the sky.

She said, "Not really, it was Noe who gave me the inspiration."

Noe was singled out, feeling a surge of pride for some reason.

Seraphina glanced at him and quickly looked away.

A slight pause in the smile on Noe's face.

Why was Seraphina ignoring him now? Did he offend her?

Noe's hand lightly scratched the spot where a mosquito had bitten him.

The itchiness seemed to intensify with each scratch.

Noe couldn't distinguish whether it was his body or his heart that itched.

Pressing down on his unidentifiable emotions, Noe shifted the conversation, sighing, "Thankfully, you've made it out safely. Once daylight breaks, we can depart from this damn place."

Upon hearing this, Seraphina glanced at him and finally spoke, "Don't speak ill of my homeland. Don't you find the sky here remarkably blue, the water crystal clear, and the scenery breathtaking?"

Indeed, that was true. The environment here was undeniably beautiful.

If only they had a less lecherous chieftain, Noe might have praised the people as well.

Noe glanced at Seraphina again, only to see her avert her eyes once more.

If he were to criticize Elara now, Seraphina would likely become even more aloof towards him.

Noe didn't know why he felt discomforted by Seraphina's apparent indifference towards him.

Noe scratched the itchy spot again and looked at Aaron, asking, "Mr. Gordon, shall we head back now?"

Aaron pondered for a moment and said, "The scenery here is nice; let's wait until dawn before we go back."

He was afraid of any more mishaps.

After all, Aaron didn't know if the capricious Elara would cause them any trouble.

If Elara went crazy again and had them imprisoned, it wouldn't be good.

It was better to wait until dawn and leave together under Deborah's witness.

"Alright, you rest against the tree for a while; I'll keep an eye on the surroundings for you," Noe said; he had just dozed off lightly and was still in good spirits.

"Aaron, rest for a while," Nora said.

Aaron nodded. "Rest against me and take a nap too."

His body was indeed exhausted, and it was not easy to hold on until now.

So Aaron leaned against the tree trunk, embraced Nora, and closed his eyes.

Nora was also exhausted, so she didn't care about anything else. She found a comfortable spot next to Aaron and closed her eyes.

Noe watched Aaron and Nora sleeping in each other's arms, took off his jacket, and gently draped it over them.

Nora opened her eyes slightly, smiled gratefully at Noe, and closed her eyes again.

Noe stood up straight slowly and inadvertently glanced at Seraphina standing aside.

At this moment, Seraphina was staring at him intently. When she saw his gaze sweep over, she looked away.

"Since they're fine now, I'll head back first," Seraphina said softly.

Noe said, "Okay."

He watched Seraphina turn around and couldn't help but call out to her, "Seraphina."

Seraphina stopped in her tracks, asking, "What's up?"

Noe looked at her calm face and scratched his nose, saying, "I appreciate your lifesaving favor. Except for marriage, I can agree to any other request from you. If you want to leave here, I can take you away."
