Chapter 970 Let's Break Up
Johnnie looked at her and said, "Mrs. Gordon gave me her special ointment, so I'm good now."
Gabriella giggled. "You know my period's over, so you couldn't wait to use Mrs. Gordon's magic potion, huh?"
Johnnie's eyes darkened. "What do you think?"
Gabriella slowly untied the towel around his waist. "I think so."
Johnnie's Adam's apple bobbed. "Then it is."
"Take off my clothes," Gabriella said playfully.
"Okay."
Johnnie took off her robe, his eyes flashing with a hint of darkness as he looked at her.
Let this be the last hurrah.
Their breaths mingled, their bodies intertwined.
The warm yellow light above swayed with their heavy breathing, not stopping for a long time.
An hour later, everything was still.
Gabriella lay in Johnnie's arms, waiting for the afterglow to fade.
Johnnie opened his eyes, looking at Gabriella's hair. After a moment, he moved her hand off his chest and sat up.
He opened the drawer and took out a pack of cigarettes he had bought for Aaron.
Feeling frustrated, Johnnie lit a cigarette.
Hearing the lighter, Gabriella opened her eyes, surprised. "Didn't you say you don't smoke? Why now?"
Johnnie exhaled a ring of smoke, his face blurred by the blue-white haze. "There's a first time for everything. Like the first time I got involved with a woman like you."
His words were loaded with meaning.
Gabriella didn't think too much about it. She looked at Johnnie, finding him very handsome at that moment, and felt moved.
She sat up and gently stroked his chest. "Johnnie, do you want to marry me?"
Johnnie glanced at her, took a deep drag of the cigarette, and thought, 'Is Gabriella trying to tease me again?'
"Yes."
Gabriella's heart moved, and she suddenly wanted to lay everything out. She wanted to seize her own happiness, marry Johnnie, and have children.
"Johnnie..."
"But you wouldn't want to marry me, would you?" Johnnie interrupted her.
"Gabriella, let's break up."
His tone was cold and calm, like discussing the weather.
Gabriella stared at him blankly. "What did you say?"
"I said, let's break up."
Johnnie extinguished the cigarette and got out of bed.
Gabriella sat there, stunned. She had just wanted to start fresh with him, but Johnnie had just broken up with her!
After a while, she asked, "Why?"
"Because we were never meant to be together. I don't want to play with you anymore, so it's over."
Johnnie turned his back to her and started getting dressed, his tone cold and distant.
Gabriella's chest heaved with anger and hurt. "Not playing with me anymore? But you just said you wanted to marry me!"
Johnnie had already put on his pants and buttoned up his shirt, leaving the collar open, revealing his strong chest.
There were still faint scratch marks on his chest.
Johnnie turned to Gabriella, his tone mocking. "You can dish it out but you can't take it? Gabriella, you're not that special! How could I ever want to marry someone like you?"
His wicked smile was like that of a demon, completely different from before.
Gabriella never thought Johnnie could be so vile. His words cut deep.
"Johnnie, you bastard!" she yelled, throwing a pillow at him.
She had wanted to let go of everything and be with him, but it was just wishful thinking. Men were truly cold-hearted creatures. She shouldn't have been so lovestruck!
Johnnie paused and looked back at her. Seeing her reddened eyes, a dull pain flashed in his heart. His Adam's apple moved slightly, but he looked away, grabbed his stuff, and left.
The door closed with a bang, shutting out everything. Gabriella's tears, which she had been holding back, fell. Her throat felt blocked. She screamed and threw everything within reach to the ground.
'Johnnie, you will regret this!' she thought. 'I will make you all regret this!'
After a while, she wiped her tears, took out her phone, and sent a message to Rafael.
Gabriella: [Nailed it.]
Outside, Johnnie stood at the end of the corridor, looking at the dazzling lights, trying to calm down. Gabriella's reddened eyes flashed in his mind again.
'Why is Gabriella crying?' he wondered. 'Is it because of my words, hurting her pride?'
'Gabriella is that kind of woman, isn't she? She has dated countless boyfriends and is about to marry Miguel. I am just her backup. I am just smart enough to pull out. It isn't like I wronged Gabriella.'
Johnnie took a deep breath, collected his emotions, and went to the top floor. He knocked on the door, and Aaron opened it.
"Mr. Gordon."
Aaron looked at Johnnie's slightly red eyes, his brows furrowing slightly. "Is it over?"
"Yes."
"Come in and talk."
Johnnie shook his head. "I won't disturb you and Mrs. Gordon."
He just came to tell Aaron it was all over. Aaron patted his shoulder.
"When you're unhappy, go have a drink and relax."
"Okay."
Aaron thought of something and said, "I heard the new secretary, Penelope Lewis, seems to be interested in you..."
"Mr. Gordon, I just want to make more money for now. I'm not interested in dating."
Johnnie knew what Aaron wanted to say, so he declined. Aaron looked at him, understanding.
Johnnie wasn't uninterested in dating; he just wasn't in the mood. He was still thinking about Gabriella. Of course, Johnnie had just slept with Gabriella. He wasn't a playboy; he couldn't be like those men who wanted a different woman every day. This Gabriella really did a lot of harm.
"Alright, I won't interfere in your personal matters. But you need to move on. You'll find someone who truly loves you."
Johnnie nodded. "I will."
"Aaron, Johnnie, aren't you coming in to talk?" Nora asked, seeing the two of them talking at the door.
"Mrs. Gordon, I won't disturb you. I'll leave now," Johnnie said, nodding slightly to her and turning to leave.
Watching his somewhat lonely back, Nora frowned slightly and sighed. Aaron pulled her into his arms, raising his hand to smooth her frown.
"Why are you sighing?"
