Chapter 1015 Self-Taught

Millie suddenly got it. "Billy, did you learn how to treat from Mom?"

Billy pulled out a needle. "Nope, Mom didn't teach me. I'm just naturally good at it."

Seraphina chuckled at his proud look. "That first shot was in the wrong spot, right? Self-taught but not perfect yet."

Billy blushed but stayed calm. "No, Seraphina, I didn't miss. I was prepping. It's more effective this way."

Millie nodded eagerly. "Yeah, Billy's awesome."

Everyone likes a bit of praise, even kids. Billy felt proud with Millie's support.

Seraphina laughed. "Yep, you're amazing. I can't compete."

Billy touched his nose. "Not that amazing. I just feel confident because you're here. If I messed up, I knew you'd fix it."

Seraphina laughed harder. Billy was too funny.

"I'll call Nora," Seraphina said, dialing. "Mrs. Gordon, Billy and I have Millie."

"Everything okay?" Nora asked.

"Yep, Billy did great. I'll send you the video," Seraphina replied.

"Alright."

Billy felt a bit guilty hearing about the video. He had missed the first shot. Would Nora think he was too cocky?

After the call, Billy smiled awkwardly. "You recorded it?"

"Yep, to capture your big moment," Seraphina said, noticing his discomfort. "Worried Nora will see you're not perfect?"

Billy smiled, admitting it.

Seraphina laughed. "Don't worry, you said the first shot was prep, right? So it's prep, not a mistake."

Billy grinned. "Mom's clever."

Seraphina reassured him, "Relax, if Nora was going to blame you, she wouldn't have let you do it. Plus, she had me there to back you up."

Billy felt better.

Meanwhile, Nora was in the kitchen, guiding Walter's servant on medicine prep. She watched the video Seraphina sent and laughed. "Billy's quite the showman. We should have him compete with Signe."

Even though the first shot was off, Billy quickly fixed it. No harm done.

"Billy's as clever as me," Aaron said, watching the video with her.

Nora teased, "Just as good at pranks."

Aaron chuckled, wrapping his arm around her waist. "Emotional intelligence like yours."

Nora laughed. "My emotional intelligence isn't high. Billy's got your smarts and charm."

Aaron raised an eyebrow, pulling her close. "Don't praise me too much, I'll get a big head."

"Let go, don't get all lovey-dovey here," Nora said, pushing his hand away. "Where's Samantha?"

"Playing with Alfred."

Nora sighed, thinking about Alfred. "Kids are the most innocent and pitiful sometimes."

Alfred hadn't done anything wrong but had to suffer with Maiken.

"Yeah," Aaron agreed. "I talked to Walter. He said he'll take good care of Alfred from now on."

"I'm just worried others will bully Maiken and Alfred when Walter's not around," Nora said.

Aaron raised an eyebrow. "You mean Astrid?"

Nora smiled. "She doesn't seem very kind."

Even though Maiken messed up first, Astrid wasn't exactly a saint either.

"Should we take Maiken and Alfred away?" Aaron suggested.

Nora laughed. "Are you getting addicted to taking care of kids?"

Aaron shrugged. "Not really. I just hate seeing you upset. I know you have a soft heart and can't stand seeing others suffer."

Nora chuckled. "Alright, stop joking. This is their family business. I won't meddle."

Aaron nodded. "Yeah, everyone has their fate. Kids who suffer young grow up more sensible. Look at Alex and Billy—they went through a lot with you and turned out great."

True enough.

"Plus, with the internet now, Samantha and Alfred will stay in touch. Even if Astrid doesn't like Alfred, she won't cause real trouble, just some exclusion. It's a life lesson for him," Aaron said.

Nora nodded, not saying more.

Soon, the medicine was ready. The servant took it to Maiken, and Nora followed.

Outside Maiken's room, Samantha was teaching Alfred how to use a tablet. Alfred's eyes sparkled with amazement.

"Alright, Alfred, give it a try. Ask if you need help," Samantha said, handing him the tablet.

Alfred's eyes lit up. "Samantha, you're amazing."

Samantha smiled. "First time someone said that. Usually, Alex and Billy tease me."

"Why do they tease you?" Alfred asked, frowning.

"Because they're much smarter than me. They're the amazing ones," Samantha replied.

Alfred looked at her intently. "No matter what others say, I think you're smart and cute."

Samantha's smile grew. "Alfred, you have to work hard too and become amazing bit by bit."

"I will," Alfred nodded eagerly.

Inside, Nora looked around. The room was simple—just a bed, chair, and wardrobe. It was on the same floor as the servants' rooms, but much better than where Maiken used to live.

Maiken took the medicine and drank it, her eyes red. "Dr. Smith, thank you."

She thought she'd be stuck in that dark, damp place forever. Now, she had a bright, spacious room.

Nora smiled, told Maiken to rest, and left the room.

Just then, Astrid walked over. Seeing Nora, her initial friendliness vanished.
