Chapter 521 Almost Abandoned
Nora glanced at him, ignoring his jest, and asked, "Which room did Erin sleep in last night?"
After entering her room, she didn't come out, leaving Aaron to look after the children.
Nora was unaware of where Aaron had finally arranged for Erin to stay.
"She came suddenly, and we didn't have an extra room, so I had her share a room with Samantha," Aaron explained.
Nora nodded, preparing to check on the children first.
Aaron reached out and pulled her into his arms.
Nora stiffened, her anger rising. "Aaron, have you forgotten what you promised me?" she scolded.
Aaron chuckled, and said, "You're in a full protective suit now. Even if you were carrying the virus, I wouldn't be infected."
Nora was speechless. "There's still a chance of infection. Let go of me!" she demanded.
"I'll just hold you for a while," Aaron interrupted, holding her tightly, inhaling her familiar scent.
Nora felt his tenderness and swallowed the reprimand that was about to come out.
She felt warm and gentle, leaning softly against his chest, whispering, "You promised me you'd only hold me for a while."
"Okay, I'll do as you say," Aaron's voice was as gentle as water.
Nora couldn't help but despise him. "If you really did as I said, you would stay away from me," she remarked, annoyed.
Aaron said, "Nora, I've been very obedient. I slept in the guest room and restrained myself from climbing into your bed at midnight. You can't ask too much of me."
Nora sneered, "Do I have to praise you?"
"Thank you," Aaron replied immediately.
Nora was angry and amused. "Aren't you ashamed?" she asked, still upset.
Aaron chuckled, holding her quietly, enjoying this moment of happiness.
"All right, it's been five minutes. Can you let go of me now?" Nora asked, unable to bear it.
Aaron kissed her hair before reluctantly letting go. Nora adjusted her clothes and walked ahead.
"Nora, where are you going?" Aaron asked.
"I'm going to check on the children," Nora said.
Aaron nodded and followed slowly behind her.
Nora arrived at Samantha's room first and gently pushed the door open. Samantha usually liked to sleep on her stomach.
At this moment, Samantha was alone in the middle of the bed, her little head turned to the side, sleeping soundly.
Nora looked around, "Aaron, where's Erin?"
There was only Samantha on the big bed, no sign of Erin.
Aaron started to panic, "I did have them sleep together last night. I told them a story, and I only came out after they fell asleep."
"Then where is she?" Nora was getting anxious.
"Nora, don't worry, let's go outside first," Aaron said.
Aaron was afraid of waking Samantha and reached out to pull Nora.
Nora frowned and shook him off, "Don't touch me, I can walk."
At this moment, she was thinking that Erin might have slept with Matthew last night and then secretly ran out of the villa to find Matthew.
The thought of Erin possibly doing this made her both anxious and annoyed. 'I shouldn't have trusted Aaron. I should have taken care of Erin myself last night.'
"Nora, there's a surveillance system in the house. Come with me to the study to check the footage," Aaron said seriously and softly.
Nora didn't say anything and followed him to the study. Aaron turned on the computer and started to review the surveillance footage.
The surveillance footage proved that he did bring Samantha and Erin into Samantha's room last night and left half an hour later.
"You see, I didn't lie, did I?" Aaron said to Nora.
"Don't say anything, keep watching," Nora said.
In fact, Nora believed Aaron. But because of Matthew, she was more concerned about Erin. She was afraid that if she didn't take good care of Erin, she would feel more guilty toward Matthew.
Aaron fast-forwarded the footage until it showed around midnight, and he saw Erin, wearing pajamas, opening the door and walking out.
Nora became nervous and stared at the screen, afraid that Erin would run out of the villa.
However, she didn't run out of the villa but walked to a door, hesitated for a moment, and then tiptoed to open the door and walked in.
She never came out again. Nora was surprised and looked at Aaron, and they both said, "Is she in Alex's room?"
'Erin actually ran into Alex's room in the middle of the night! Why?' Nora pondered.
"I'll go check Alex's room," Nora said.
"Okay," Aaron replied and sighed in relief. He followed Nora to Alex's room after turning off the surveillance.
Nora gently opened the door to Alex's room and saw Alex and Erin sleeping side by side, still in a deep sleep. The two children with smooth skin looked especially cute sleeping together.
'It seems that Erin really likes Alex,' Nora thought and smiled.
She suddenly thought of the word daughter-in-law. She raised her eyebrows and smiled even more happily.
'Millie is called Billy's little bride by her classmates. Now, does Alex also have a bride? If Matthew lets me take care of Erin all the time, can Erin be Alex's future wife? How can I have such a strange thought!' Nora mused.
Thinking of Matthew, Nora stopped smiling and felt a little down. 'If only there were no annoying infectious diseases,' Nora thought, sighed, and helped them cover the blanket, preparing to leave the room.
At this moment, Alex's eyelashes trembled, and he slowly opened his eyes.
Nora was startled, "Alex, did I wake you up?"
Alex was still a little sleepy. He looked at Nora and Aaron, who suddenly appeared, and then stared at Nora in a protective suit for a few seconds before sitting up.
"Mommy, Uncle Gordon, do you need anything?" Alex asked.
Nora smiled and pointed to Erin, who was still asleep.
"Why is she here?" Nora asked.
Alex got out of bed and said, "Mommy, I'll go to the bathroom first."
"Well, we'll go out first," Nora said. She was afraid of waking up Erin, so she and Aaron walked out of the room. They waited at the door for a while, and Alex came out.
Nora smiled and said, "Alex, wasn't Erin sleeping in Samantha's room last night? Why did she go to your room?"
Aaron added, "Your Mommy thought Erin was lost and almost abandoned me."
Nora glanced at him. She knew she was too anxious, so she didn't argue.
Alex was a little shy, "I was already asleep last night and was woken up by Erin. She said it was too crowded to sleep with Samantha, so I let her sleep in my bed."
Nora thought, 'Too crowded?! How can two children sleep on such a big bed be crowded?'
Nora suddenly laughed, "I understand now. As long as Erin is not lost, it's fine. It's still early, so you can go back to sleep for a while."
"Okay," Alex nodded and went back into the room.
