Chapter 1018 Didn't Figure Out That She Was My Daughter
Signe glanced at Nora, frowning. "You want to challenge me in medical skills? I save lives, not waste time on silly competitions."
He thought they wanted him as a medium, but they were here to provoke him.
"I don't like wasting time either, like pretending to be a god and calling people jinxes," Nora shot back, her face cold.
"How dare you!" Signe snapped. "I have spiritual powers from God, and you call it nonsense?"
His harsh tone made Walter and the others tense up, afraid to breathe. They believed these witch doctors could talk to the dead, and offending them was risky. But Aaron and Nora weren't scared.
Nora pulled Millie in front of her, staring at Signe. "Signe, calm down. I just want to know how you decided my daughter Millie is a jinx."
Signe looked at Millie, surprised. "She's your daughter?"
Nora raised an eyebrow. "Aren't you supposed to know everything? You can tell Millie is a jinx but not that she's my daughter?"
Signe's eyes flickered, glaring at Nora without a word.
"Signe, Millie is my granddaughter. Last time, Mia asked you for a ritual," Diego said, bowing slightly with his wife Mia.
Signe recognized Mia and nodded. "So Millie is your granddaughter? She is a jinx; otherwise, her parents wouldn't have died."
Mia nodded devoutly.
Nora found it laughable. "Did you figure out her parents are dead, or did Mia tell you?"
Signe glared. "Stop questioning my abilities!"
Nora replied, "I only believe in the truth!"
Signe pointed at Millie. "The truth is, God told me she's a jinx."
He was still spouting nonsense.
Nora's eyes turned cold. Before she could react, Billy jumped in. "You're the jinx, your whole family is jinxes!"
Billy rushed at Signe, slapping his leg.
Signe screamed, feeling his leg go numb. "What are you doing?"
Manuel and Dale quickly supported Signe, glaring at Billy.
Nora saw Billy had just given Signe an injection. She raised an eyebrow, saying nothing, letting Billy handle it.
"I didn't do anything!" Billy mocked. "Isn't Signe supposed to be all-powerful? Did he foresee tonight's trouble?"
Signe's face darkened as he pulled the needle from his leg.
Dale shouted, "How dare you harm Mr. Christensen! You'll be punished!"
Nora saw Signe find the needle, intrigued. It seemed Signe had some skills. If he didn't know some medicine, he wouldn't have noticed.
"So, you know some medical skills too?"
Signe suppressed his anger, not lashing out at Billy. He turned to Nora. "Mrs. Gordon, control your child, or God will."
Nora stayed calm. "Thanks for the reminder. Billy is smart and wise, the best gift God has given us."
Astrid, who had been watching the chaos, shouted, "Mr. Christensen, this woman is disrespecting you and God. Teach her a lesson!"
"Shut up!" Walter snapped, glaring at her.
Astrid fell silent but looked at Signe with hopeful eyes. She thought the Chrisland folks were doomed for offending him.
"Mrs. Gordon, since we're both doctors, I'll overlook your ignorance. Mr. Rochet, if there's nothing else, we'll be leaving now," Signe said, turning to leave.
Was he feeling guilty? Nora's face turned cold. She whispered to Seraphina, "Show me what you've learned."
Seraphina stepped forward and quickly inserted a few needles into one of Signe's assistants, Dale. He faltered, made a gurgling sound, clutched his chest, and slowly turned around, pointing at Seraphina with a pained expression.
Manuel, the other assistant, was shocked. "What did you do to him?"
"You'll find out soon," Seraphina said, retreating to Nora's side and counting down silently. 'Five, four, three, two, one.'
Dale's eyes rolled back, and he collapsed, unconscious. Everyone except Aaron and a few kids was stunned.
Manuel checked Dale's breath and was startled. "Mr. Christensen, he's not breathing!"
Signe glared at Seraphina, his staff hitting the ground. "You killed him! You dare commit murder in public!"
The clear sound of bells echoed, adding to the tension. Walter and the others bowed their heads in reverence.
"Don't get excited, she's my student," Nora said calmly.
Seraphina continued, "Signe, I heard you can communicate with the deceased. I'm curious to see your skills, so I sent your man to hell. Since you can talk to the dead, you can bring his soul back, right?"
Hearing Hugo's translation, Signe's face changed. Everyone was looking at him expectantly, putting him in a tough spot. He knew some medical skills but couldn't bring the dead back to life.
Signe squatted down, feeling Dale's carotid artery. No pulse. Dale was really dead? He didn't believe the Chrisland folks would kill someone in public. They must be trying to make a fool of him. Fake death!
'Fake death!' Signe thought. They must have used medical skills to make Dale stop breathing. But he didn't know how to wake him up.
"Mr. Christensen, can you do it or not?" Seraphina asked. "If you don't perform the ritual soon, your assistant's soul will enter hell and never return."
Signe glared at her, then stood up and said to Manuel, "Prepare to perform the soul-summoning ritual."
Manuel knew Signe didn't have this ability but complied anyway.
"Mr. Christensen, do you need help?" Walter asked quickly.
"Yes. Prepare water, a basin, and scissors," Signe instructed seriously.
"Yes," Walter said, quickly getting the items.
Nora and the others watched Signe, curious to see how he'd cover up his lie.
