Chapter 856 Dare Not Speak

"Mateo, you are asking for trouble." Aaron's breath deepened, and his knuckles cracked as he clenched his fist.

Mateo backed down, saying, "Mr. Gordon, calm down. I am a prince, after all."

Aaron sneered. "If you don't want to spend your life as a fool, you'd better curb your little schemes. Otherwise, I have ways to make you a real fool!"

His eyes were full of warning, and the playful look on Mateo's face faded as he stared directly at him.

Aaron met his gaze, and the air seemed to fill with invisible tension.

After a while, Mateo looked away and put his hands in his pockets. "Relax, Mr. Gordon. I'm just envious of you. But remember, if you ever let her down, don't blame me for taking her away."

Aaron's eyes were cold. "Don't worry, that day will never come."

The two didn't speak again, standing on either side, waiting for Nora to finish her treatment.

Half an hour later, Nora opened the door. Seeing the two standing like statues on either side, she curiously looked them over. Fortunately, both were neatly dressed and looked normal, so they probably hadn't done anything.

Nora breathed a slight sigh of relief. "It's done."

"Thank you, Nora," Mateo said affectionately.

"No need to thank me. Keep giving her the medicine, and I'll come back tomorrow night."

Nora walked over to Aaron. Aaron's expression softened, and he wrapped his arm around Nora's waist, ready to leave.

Mateo's eyes darkened. "You are leaving now? Why not stay a bit longer and have some coffee?"

"No need," Aaron replied expressionlessly, leading Nora downstairs.

"Nora, I know why you're here. Don't you want to get that child back as soon as possible?" Mateo said out of the blue.

Nora paused and turned to look at him. "What do you have in mind?"

Mateo smiled. "I had someone find the coffee you Chrisland people love. How about we sit down and talk over a cup?"

Nora glanced at Aaron, seeking his opinion. Aaron half-closed his eyes and said nothing, which was as good as agreeing. He mainly wanted to hear what suggestions Mateo had.

The three went downstairs, and Aaron sat on the living room sofa with Nora in his arms. Mateo had someone bring the coffee-making equipment and then personally brewed the famous coffee.

Nora watched his serious coffee-making actions but didn't care much about how the coffee turned out. "Mateo, what exactly do you have in mind to help us get the child back quickly?"

"Don't rush. Try my coffee first and see if it's any good." Mateo poured coffee for both of them.

Nora and Aaron both took a sip out of courtesy.

"How is it?" Mateo looked at Nora, eyes full of anticipation.

"Well, it's quite good." Nora put down the cup. "Can you tell us now?"

Mateo spoke with a hint of grievance, "Nora, you're so perfunctory."

Aaron played with the cup in his hand and sneered, "Your skills are just ordinary. My wife was being kind."

Mateo glanced at him. "If my skills are ordinary, why don't you try?"

Aaron smiled lightly. "Today, we're guests. It's not right to make the guests do the work. Next time you come to my place, I'll show you what real coffee-making is."

Mateo snorted, "Mr. Gordon, you're good at making excuses."

Aaron glanced at him. "Not as good as you."

"I..."

"Stop, stop. Can we get to the point?" Seeing the two about to argue again, Nora quickly interrupted.

Only then did they quiet down.

Mateo took a sip of coffee and said, "The current situation is that Hugo, relying on his status, won't let you take his niece away, right?"

Nora said, "Your information is quite up-to-date."

Mateo's eyes deepened. "Because I've been keeping an eye on you."

Nora was speechless. "Speak properly!"

Mateo smiled. "The child has local blood, so you have no reason to take her away. However, if someone could make Hugo voluntarily give up the custody fight, wouldn't you be able to take the child back?"

Hearing this, Nora quickly asked, "Who can make Hugo voluntarily give up the custody fight?"

Mateo was silent for a moment. "My father."

His father, the king of this country, Tomas Fischer.

Nora and Aaron exchanged a glance. Aaron's brown eyes half-closed. "Do you want your father to step in and mediate for us?"

Mateo smiled. "My father is the ruler of a country. If he speaks, even if Hugo is unwilling, he wouldn't dare to disobey."

He had a point. As long as Tomas was willing to step in, no one would dare not listen.

"Mateo, are your father willing to step in?" Nora said.

Mateo looked at her and teased, "That's why you need me."

Nora was speechless. This Mateo always had a hidden meaning in his words.

She pretended not to understand. "You mean you'll talk to your father about this?"

"Yes." Mateo nodded.

Nora thought for a moment. "Mateo, don't forget you're currently considered a fool. Your father has probably already written you off. Do you think he would help someone he's written off?"

Mateo looked at her and added, "So if you cured my foolishness, wouldn't I no longer be written off?"

Nora was stunned, not reacting immediately. Aaron, on the side, half-closed his brown eyes, understanding his intention.

"Mateo, you want to use this opportunity to return to normal?"

Mateo raised an eyebrow. "Yes, Nora. To help you, I'm sacrificing a lot. Once I return to normal, I'll definitely become a thorn in my brothers' sides again." His tone had a hint of pity.

Aaron's eyes were cold. "You sacrifice? Are you sure you're sacrificing yourself or are you using my wife?"

Mateo's brown eyes flickered, and he said nothing.

Aaron continued, "If you become a thorn in your brothers' sides, won't the person who cured you also be implicated?"

Mateo was silent for a moment, looking at Nora. "I'm sorry, Nora. I was selfish. But please believe me. In my turf, I will protect you."

Hearing this, Aaron sneered. "Mateo, you can't even protect yourself, and you want to protect someone else?"

Mateo's eyes sharpened. "That was the old me. The new me is much stronger."

Aaron glanced at him. "Are you sure?"

"I'm sure."

"But I don't believe you."

"I don't need you to believe me. Nora, do you believe me?"

Mateo's handsome face was like the rising sun, full of vitality. His eyes were passionate, with a hint of expectation, making people unconsciously want to agree with him.

Nora instinctively glanced at Aaron, seeing him staring at her with a stern face, her heart tighten. She didn't dare to speak, afraid of causing trouble!
