Chapter 793 She Could Only Be My Wife in This Lifetime
Edric hung up, looked at the fleeting street scene, and took out his phone to call Jenny.
The phone rang once and then disconnected.
She actually hung up on him.
Jenny was throwing a little tantrum.
She really wanted a divorce.
Edric's handsome face turned as dark as astorm cloud. After thinking for a moment, he called Nora.
The call was quickly answered, and Nora's clear and pleasant voice came through.
"Hello?"
"Nora, is Jenny with you?"
Edric's tone lacked its usual cheerfulness, clearly showing resentment towards Nora.
He just wanted to pick up Jenny quickly to prevent her from being influenced by Nora and becoming more determined to divorce him.
At that moment, Nora was at home chatting with Carter.
Hearing Edric's stiff voice, she replied, "Jenny's not with me; she went to work."
Edric squinted his eyes. "Got it."
He hung up immediately after speaking.
Nora raised an eyebrow, knowing Edric was upset, but she didn't hold it against him. She put away her phone and continued chatting with Carter.
At the Galactic Media.
Jenny changed her clothes and went to the dance studio.
Thinking of Ulysses, she frowned slightly.
She was supposed to teach Ulysses dance privately this morning.
Jenny wanted to call Ulysses.
She took out her phone and saw it was off.
The phone was probably out of battery.
Jenny took out a power bank to charge her phone.
After charging for a while, she turned on the phone and saw a missed call.
It was from Edric.
Thinking of what Nora said, she decided not to bother with Edric, so she hardened her heart and ignored him, then called Ulysses.
Jenny wanted to find out if what Nora said was true, that Ulysses liked her.
The call was quickly answered.
"Jenny, I saw the news online. Are you and Mr. Bishop okay?" Ulysses asked with concern.
Jenny said, "We're fine, Ulysses. There's something I want to ask you."
"What is it?"
"Do you like me?"
There was a moment of silence on the phone, then Ulysses said, "Jenny, do you have time now? I'm near the company. I want to talk to you in person."
Jenny thought for a moment and agreed.
"Okay, I'll come downstairs right away. Let's meet at the café downstairs."
She wanted to clear things up with Ulysses.
Jenny didn't change her clothes, just threw on a long trench coat and went out.
When she arrived at the café on the first floor, she saw Ulysses already waiting by the window.
Jenny walked over and sat down across from him.
Just then, the waiter brought coffee and pastries.
Ulysses smiled and said, "Jenny, I ordered your favorite cappuccino and mango mousse."
Jenny glanced at him. Ulysses still had a white bandage on his forehead and looked at her gently.
Jenny's eyes flickered slightly. She took the coffee and thanked him.
Ulysses took a sip of his coffee and asked, "Jenny, did you and Mr. Bishop argue because of me?"
Jenny stirred her spoon and didn't answer directly. Instead, she asked, "Ulysses, you haven't answered my question. Do you like me?"
Ulysses paused and then nodded. "Yes, Jenny, I like you."
Jenny frowned slightly. "Since when?"
"I liked you from the first moment I saw you, Jenny. It was love at first sight."
Ulysses straightforwardly confessed to Jenny.
"I just didn't expect you to be married and your husband to be Mr. Bishop. I originally just wanted to wish you well silently, but I found out you weren't happy. So I wanted to stay by your side, and when you got divorced, I would marry you."
As he spoke, he reached out to hold Jenny's hand.
"Jenny, are you going to divorce Mr. Bishop? If you divorce him today, I can marry you tomorrow."
Jenny frowned again.
She pulled her hand away and said, "Ulysses, the fact is, I'm already married. And even if I weren't, I've always seen you as a friend. I don't have romantic feelings for you."
Hearing this, Ulysses felt a bit awkward.
"I don't believe it. We get along so well, and you're different with me. I know you're afraid Mr. Bishop will retaliate against me, but I'm not afraid of him. As long as I'm with you, I'm not afraid of anything. I'd even die for you."
Jenny was speechless.
Many men had pursued her since she was young because of her cute looks.
But no man had ever been as straightforward as Ulysses, saying he wasn't even afraid of death.
Just as Jenny was about to say something, a sinister voice came from behind her.
"Ulysses, it seems a head injury didn't wake you up. Do you want me to twist your head off next time?"
Jenny's nerves tightened, and she quickly turned around to see Edric walking up behind her with a cold demeanor.
Edric's gaze was icy, staring at Ulysses as if he were a dead man.
Ulysses felt a chill down his spine and instinctively stood up.
"Mr. Bishop."
Edric's lips curled into a cold smile, and he looked down at Jenny.
"Honey, why didn't you answer my call?"
Jenny's fingers curled slightly. "My phone was out of battery."
"Out of battery, or you just didn't want to answer my call?"
Edric's voice was filled with barely suppressed anger.
Ulysses said, "Mr. Bishop, don't make things difficult for Jenny. If you don't love her anymore, let her go."
Edric slowly raised his eyes, a light laugh escaping his lips.
Edric's voice was chilling to the bone.
"If I let her go, would you take her over? Ulysses, you dare to like my wife? I don't think you understand the consequence!"
Ulysses' young face showed defiance.
"Mr. Bishop, I know you have immense power, and I can't compete with you right now. But feelings are pure. If we compete fairly; I won't lose to you!"
Edric seemed to hear the biggest joke in the world.
"You want to compete fairly with me? Who do you think you are?"
Ulysses was indignant. "Why am I not worthy? Even though my family background isn't as good as yours, my feelings are pure. Let's talk about feelings. I'm more devoted than you. Your infidelity is well-known; you can't make Jenny happy."
"I saw the news. Your mistress has been living with the Bishop family. You're just a scumbag enjoying the best of both worlds. Jenny is right to leave you!"
Edric's temple veins throbbed, and his gaze at Ulysses was as sharp as ice as if he would tear him apart the next second.
Edric's muscles tensed, and his clenched fists made a cracking sound.
Jenny knew Edric was really angry.
Afraid that Edric would hit Ulysses in public, she quickly stood up and tightly grabbed him.
"Stop it, both of you. Ulysses, I only see you as a friend. The only person I love is my husband. Even if I divorce him, I won't be with you."
