Chapter 484 Nora is My Nemesis
Chloe said, "Sister, don't let this matter escalate. If you expose Arthur, I'm afraid he will reveal that Ebenezer once slept with a married woman. It wouldn't be good for Ebenezer."
Hearing this, Emma's anger slowly subsided.
"That's true, but it still bothers me. I can't let it go," Emma sighed.
Chloe smiled, and comforted Emma, saying, "Sister, fate is fair. You reap what you sow. He won't have a good ending for what he has done."
Her tone was calm as if she had seen through the illusions of the world, becoming wise.
Emma took a deep breath, and said, "I understand. I won't pursue Arthur's responsibility any further. Let's leave it at that for now."
Chloe nodded.
Emma asked, "Chloe, now that you have divorced Arthur, what are your plans?"
"I plan to live the rest of my life for myself," Chloe said with a slight smile. "I've been confused for over twenty years. The outside world must have changed a lot. So, I'm going to travel the world, and I won't be back for a while."
She appeared serene as if she had been reborn, which made Emma genuinely happy for her.
"Sister, take care of yourself," Emma said, holding Chloe's hand.
"And take good care of Nora and the others. May your family be happy forever," Chloe hoped and wished her well.
"Okay," Emma replied.
They shared a knowing smile.
Chloe glanced at the time and said, "It's getting late. I have a flight to catch in an hour. I need to get to the airport."
Emma was surprised, and asked, "You're leaving already?"
"Yes," Chloe stood up. "I guess I've been restrained for too long. Now that I have my freedom, I can't wait to embrace the vast sky."
Emma understood, though she felt a bit reluctant.
"Well, I'll accompany you. Let's stay in touch," Emma said.
"Okay," Chloe agreed.
Outside, Suzy listened to their conversation, covering her mouth in shock.
She never expected that Nora would be Emma's biological daughter.
She pondered, 'Why does fate enjoy these games? First, Nora took my man, and then she was acknowledged by my adoptive father as part of the Hamilton family. She transformed from an illegitimate child to a true aristocratic lady.
'What comes next? It's now her three children's turn. Knowing they are Aaron's offspring, only Emma and I do. If Nora is Emma's biological daughter, can Emma keep this secret from me? No, she wouldn't.
'Emma would surely reveal the truth. What purpose would I serve then? Previously, I could rely on Emma's discontent with Nora to gain her support and disrupt Nora and Aaron's bond. That option is no longer viable. Emma will not support me anymore.
'Not only will she not support me anymore, but Emma may even expel me from the Hamilton family due to my actions against Nora. It's all over. Everything is finished. What should I do?"
The door to the bedroom opened.
Suzy was startled and quickly rushed into the nearby room to hide.
Leaning against the door panel, she was both anxious and panicked, filled with resentment.
She thought, 'How lucky Nora is. She is my nemesis.'
Downstairs, Emma saw off Chloe and hurriedly returned upstairs.
She wanted to call Nora on her phone.
She couldn't wait any longer to meet Nora, to tell her that she was her biological daughter.
Suzy called out, "Mom."
Suzy came out of the room and looked straight at Emma.
Emma was taken aback, and asked, "Suzy, why are you back?"
Suzy replied, "I came back to get something."
Suzy followed Emma into the bedroom and asked, "Was Aunt Chole here just now?"
"Yes, Chloe has regained consciousness. Nora cured her," Emma explained. She was overjoyed and picked up her phone in the room, ready to call Nora.
Suzy's heart skipped a beat, "Mom, who are you calling?"
Emma replied, "I'm calling Nora; I want to meet her."
Emma was only thinking about Nora now and didn't have time to deal with Suzy.
Suzy swallowed nervously, her face turning pale, her heart pounding, not knowing what to do.
Emma held her phone, listening to the ringing tone on the other end, furrowing her brows.
Emma wondered aloud, "Why isn't Nora answering? She must be busy."
Nora didn't pick up the phone.
Suzy's pounding heart gradually calmed down.
She thought, 'What should I do now? I can't let Emma and Nora meet.'
Emma hung up, thought for a moment, and decided to find Nora.
Seeing Suzy standing silently, she said, "Suzy, do you have something to do? I need to change clothes, so please leave first."
Suzy swallowed and forced a smile, asking, "Mom, why are you so happy today?"
Emma picked out a coat from the wardrobe, her face filled with excitement and joy.
"I am happy because Chloe told me something," Emma answered.
Suzy pretended not to know.
"What is it?" Suzy asked.
Emma was in a hurry, wanting to rush out to meet Nora, so she could not pay more attention to Suzy and continued talking while changing clothes.
"It turns out that my biological daughter is not dead; she is right in front of me," Emma said.
Suzy's eyes flickered intentionally, and she asked, "Mom, why would she say that Nora is your biological daughter? How does she know? Maybe she manipulated Aunt Chloe."
Emma paused while getting dressed and confidently stated, "Nora couldn't have made a mistake. Just look at how much she resembles me; she must be my daughter."
"But doesn't Nora also bear a resemblance to Dad's first love?" Suzy interjected.
Emma's expression soured at this comment. "Suzy, I know you have issues with Nora, but she is my biological daughter. Treat her better from now on, or you'll anger me," Emma warned.
Suzy unconsciously dug her nails into her skin, thinking, 'I was right. Once she acknowledges Nora as her daughter, she won't support me anymore. There won't be a place for me in this family.'
Emma, feeling pleased, remarked, "Nora is truly fortunate. She's not just intelligent but also knows how to pick the right partners. And now she has her children.
"When I see Nora, I'll reveal the truth about the children's father. Her three children are not fatherless; she deliberately chose their father. I'm already a grandmother."
After changing her clothes, Emma gathered her belongings and looked at Suzy, her enthusiasm waning slightly.
"Suzy, I raised you as my own despite our lack of blood ties. I won't dwell on your past actions against Nora. However, going forward, refrain from trying to steal Nora's man or plotting against her. Otherwise, our relationship may come to an end," Emma cautioned.
