Chapter 1049 The Daughter Taken away
"I trust Nora; she won't let anything happen to you," Mateo said.
Tomas snorted, "Raising a son isn't as good as raising a daughter. If Nora were my daughter, she wouldn't let me drink poison without warning me."
Mateo was speechless. Could he admit it was Nora's idea? No way. So, he kept quiet.
They reached a bedroom where Nora was getting ready for Aaron to carry her out to check on Tomas. She was still thinking about the silver needle she gave Tomas.
"Nora, where are you going? Lie down; right after giving birth is the weakest time for a woman," Tomas said, supported by Mateo.
"King Tomas, you're awake?" Nora smiled.
The doctor handed her a silver needle, and Aaron took it and put it away.
"My lucky charm is here; how could I not wake up?" Tomas's eyes fell on the baby, Linnea Gordon, held by a medical staff.
Tomas's eyes were full of affection. "My lucky charm, let me hold her."
Linnea, freshly bathed, was smacking her lips and blowing bubbles. Hearing Tomas's voice, she opened her eyes.
As Tomas leaned in, Linnea grinned at him. He was overjoyed. "Oh my, she really is my lucky charm. Did you see that? She smiled at me. Let me hold her!"
Tomas reached out for Linnea. Aaron, who had just settled Nora, said, "King Tomas, you just woke up; you should rest."
He added, "Don't drop my daughter."
Hugo laughed. "Mr. Gordon, should I translate it like this?"
Aaron glanced at Tomas, who was ready to hold Linnea. "No need to translate the last part; he should know."
Hugo laughed and translated for Tomas.
Tomas carefully took Linnea from the medical staff, looking very happy.
Hearing Hugo's explanation, Tomas glanced at Aaron, whose eyes were glued to Linnea. "What, afraid I'll drop your daughter? Don't worry, my granddaughter is my lucky charm. I'd rather drop myself than her, right, my little princess?"
Linnea, unlike other newborns, was pink and adorable.
As Tomas spoke to her, Linnea blew another bubble and grinned. Tomas was even more delighted. "Little princess, how about staying with me? I'll take you to play."
Linnea yawned, moved her little mouth, and smiled again.
Tomas's face lit up. "A smile means she agrees. You really are my lucky charm!"
Aaron got anxious, worried Tomas would take Linnea. "King Tomas, you must be tired. Give me the baby."
"I'm not tired. Being with my lucky charm gives me energy." Tomas held Linnea tightly, avoiding Aaron.
"Don't worry about me; go take care of Nora." Tomas was about to leave with Linnea.
Aaron, hearing Hugo's translation, felt speechless. "King Tomas, don't take the baby. Nora needs to feed her later."
"Nora has been treating me and giving birth; she's exhausted. Let her rest. I'll find someone else to feed the baby."
Aaron was speechless. Seeing Tomas about to take Linnea away, he shouted, "King Tomas, are you trying to take my daughter?"
Tomas stopped, annoyed. "What do you mean take away? She's the little princess of the royal family. There's no question of taking away or not!"
Aaron was at a loss. "She's my daughter!"
Tomas replied confidently, "I didn't say she wasn't."
Aaron thought, 'Then give Linnea back to us!'
"What, you think I won't take good care of her? Don't worry, I'll focus on raising my lucky charm. Now you can relax, right?"
With that, Tomas continued walking away with Linnea.
Aaron was speechless. "No, Tomas, I just saved you, and now you're taking my daughter. Is this how you repay kindness?"
Tomas pretended not to hear Hugo's translation, quickening his pace and leaving the room with Linnea.
Mateo laughed, stopping Aaron from chasing them. He patted Aaron's shoulder. "Aaron, take care of Nora. We'll handle the child. We're doing this for you, so you don't have to worry about both."
Aaron gritted his teeth. "You two ungrateful people, remember who saved you!"
Mateo replied, "Don't say that. Because you saved us, we want to repay you. Rest assured, I'll take good care of our little princess."
Aaron had nothing more to say.
The coup ended. Tomas imprisoned Scarlett and the others, sentencing them to life imprisonment.
He also announced he would pass the throne to Mateo and named Linnea, born to Nora, as the princess of Hchilia.
The world reported on the miraculous birth of Hchilia's lucky charm. What was an ordinary childbirth became legendary. Everyone wanted to see the lucky charm who woke Tomas.
Nora didn't expect Linnea, whom she worked so hard to give birth to, would become Hchilia's lucky charm. Linnea became the princess, and Nora couldn't even raise her.
Fourteen years later, it was Aaron and Nora's wedding anniversary.
Following Nora's wishes, Aaron kept it simple, inviting close friends and family to their estate.
Nora wore a light purple chiffon dress, highlighting her graceful figure. She gently held Aaron's arm, who was in a suit, and greeted everyone.
Fourteen years had passed, and Nora and Aaron were still a perfect match. Time hadn't aged them much; it added a mature and noble charm.
Standing together, they were like the brightest stars, radiant and dazzling.
"Aaron, congratulations to you both," Edric said, raising his glass. His wife, Jenny, stood beside him.
The four had been friends for decades, and their friendship only grew stronger.
"Jenny, where's Seb?" Nora asked.
Seb, full name Seb Bishop, was Edric and Jenny's son. He was born the same day as Linnea, whom Nora gave birth to in Hchilia fourteen years ago.
With Edric and Jenny's good looks, Seb had been the most handsome boy in school since he was a child.
