Chapter 1088 The Person Alfred Liked Was Millie

Wesley just kept quiet, chugging his beer.

One can down, and Elijah got up to grab a few more. She popped one open and handed it to him. He took it and downed a big gulp.

Elijah asked, "Did you and Samantha have a fight?"

Wesley stared at his beer, breathing heavy. After a bit, he muttered, almost to himself, "You think she really likes me?"

Clearly, Wesley had some serious issues with Samantha.

Elijah's eyes flickered; everyone’s got a rebellious streak. If she said Samantha didn’t like him, it’d just make him mad. She decided to play it differently.

"She probably does. I mean, you're a hit with the ladies; it makes sense she'd be into you." Elijah chalked up Samantha's feelings to her being a fan.

Wesley took another swig. "So, if I couldn't sing anymore, would she stop liking me?"

Elijah pretended to think. "I dunno. But if it were me, I'd like everything about a person, talent or no talent."

Her words were smooth. When someone's down, hearing stuff like that is a real comfort.

The TV was playing some romance flick, moving fast. Before long, the leads were making out like crazy.

Under the warm yellow light, the guy pinned the girl against the wall, kissing her hard. Her soft moans and his heavy breathing filled the room, making the air thick.

After a few more beers, Wesley was tipsy. His body was heating up, thanks to the alcohol and the scene on TV.

Wesley’s eyes were glued to the screen, watching the steamy scene, his Adam's apple bobbing with desire.

Elijah noticed and scooted closer. She lightly touched his forehead, her voice soft. "Feeling a bit hot?"

Her touch made Wesley's blood boil even more.

Wesley’s breath hitched, and he grabbed her hand. "Go home, I need to rest."

He still had some sense left. He’d messed up with Elijah once and didn’t want a repeat.

A flash of frustration crossed Elijah's face. As Wesley got up, she hugged him tight. "Wesley, I don’t mean anything else. I just want you to be happy. When you're down, I feel bad too. I don’t know how to cheer you up, and I’m not great at much. I just want you to let it out."

Elijah lowered herself, her hand moving from his chest downward. Her teasing made Wesley's breathing even heavier.

Wesley’s self-control was hanging by a thread under Elijah's soft words.

He was in a bad mood, and with a tender woman like Elijah, he just wanted to let off steam. His Adam's apple bobbed as he met her gaze, and for a moment, Samantha's image flashed in his mind. He realized he couldn’t betray her. "Elijah, let go."

"Don’t push me away! Wesley, don’t worry, this will be our secret. Samantha will never know." Elijah seemed to know what he was gonna say. Before he could finish, she stood on tiptoe and kissed him.

The soft touch made Wesley lose the last bit of his self-control. He thought of Samantha and Alfred holding hands, entering the elevator. He also thought of Alfred spending the night at Samantha's place.

He thought, 'Maybe there's something going on between them too. If they can do that, why should I stay loyal to Samantha?'

Buzzed from the booze, Wesley pulled Elijah close and they tumbled onto the couch.

Over at Samantha's place, Alfred had Yahir bring over fresh ingredients. He was busy whipping up something in the kitchen.

Samantha was chilling on the sofa, getting grilled by Billy: [What did Alfred say to you? Was he spilling about his love life?]

Samantha's eyes lit up as she typed: [He did mention a romantic encounter, but he said he has a secret crush and just wants to keep it that way. Billy, do you know who he's crushing on?]

She was super curious about Alfred's secret crush and hoped Billy had some dirt.

[I think I have an idea,] Billy replied.

Samantha's eyes sparkled. [Spill it, who's the girl?]

Billy shot back: [Why should I tell you? You won't even tell me if you're seeing someone.]

Samantha wasn't buying it and typed: [I bet you don't know who Alfred's crush is. You're just messing with me.]

Billy: [Believe it or not! I'll tell you, Alfred likes a girl from Chrisland. She's super pretty and talented. I really dig her too.]

Samantha read that and started racking her brain. She had a bunch of female friends who were pretty and talented, but most of them hadn't even met Alfred.

She couldn't figure out who the girl was.

Too curious, she sent: [Do I know her?]

Billy: [Well, I'm not telling you, I'm not telling you, I'm just not telling you.]

Samantha was speechless. Billy was really good at keeping people in suspense. [Keep talking nonsense. Is Mateo around? I'll ask him.]

She figured since Alfred was Mateo's personal guard and they were always together, maybe Mateo knew.

Billy: [Mateo's drinking with Aaron. You wanna ask him? I'll call him.]

Samantha's scalp tingled, and she quickly sent: [Nah, I don't want Mateo to start complaining to me.]

A drunk Mateo would go on a rant about how much he hated Aaron for marrying Nora. If he had met Nora earlier, Aaron wouldn't have stood a chance. Drunk Mateo was a nightmare.

[What's Alfred up to?] Billy asked again.

Samantha glanced towards the kitchen and replied: [He's cooking.]

Billy: [Alfred's such a good guy. The girl he likes is really clueless to ignore him.]

Samantha blinked. [Why doesn't he just tell her? Is it 'cause she likes someone else?]

Billy: [Yeah, she likes a skinny dude.]

Seeing the word "skinny," Samantha couldn't help but think of Wesley.

She sent: [Feelings are unpredictable. Everyone's got different tastes and loves different things.]

Billy didn't reply.

Samantha had been chatting for a while but hadn't gotten any useful info. She decided to stir the pot.

Her eyes rolled, and she deliberately sent: [I think I know who Alfred likes.]

Billy immediately replied: [Who?]

Samantha: [It's Millie. They're both from Hchilia and grew up together. Plus, Millie likes you and totally ignores him. All the clues match.]
