Chapter 1046 Have You Ever Thought About the Consequences
Yandel, called out by Nora, said flatly, "King Tomas has been swamped with state affairs for years and has old health issues. Tonics are just a temporary fix. Plus, he's got bad luck, so it's no shock he fell ill."
Nora's eyes were cold. "Oh really, are you saying Mateo made Tomas sick?"
"Exactly," Yandel replied shamelessly.
Nora sneered, "You sure know how to cover for your incompetence. Fine, I won't comment on your medical skills anymore. I'll check on King Tomas myself."
Not wanting to argue, Nora moved to diagnose Tomas.
Rafael stepped in her way. "Hold on."
"Move," Aaron said impatiently, kicking Rafael to the ground.
Rafael clutched his chest in pain and cried out. His bodyguard drew his sword towards Aaron, but Frederick kicked the bodyguard, sending him and his sword flying.
Their swift actions scared Scarlett, who screamed.
Miguel helped Rafael up, eyes full of anger. "Guards, someone dares to use force in the palace, seize them!"
At his command, guards rushed in, surrounding Aaron and his group.
Aaron's sharp gaze swept around. "Rafael, planning to kill us all? Thought about the consequences?"
Rafael, clutching his chest, glared venomously. "Aaron, my father is dying because of Mateo, and you schemed for him. Even if I kill you, it's justice for my father!"
Aaron sneered, "So you're saying we plotted to help Mateo seize power?"
"Exactly!" Rafael declared shamelessly.
Nora spoke up, "Rafael, I don't want to argue. The medical team we brought are top professionals. Can we at least let them diagnose Tomas?"
Rafael eyed the medical team, unwilling to let them near Tomas. "They're your people. Who knows if they're in on it with you?"
Aaron's eyes turned cold. "Rafael, you clearly don't want us to leave the palace alive, do you?"
Rafael didn't deny it. "Aaron, behave, and I won't make things difficult. But meddle in our affairs, and don't blame me for being harsh!"
Aaron's eyes flashed with mockery. "By 'harsh,' do you mean killing these medical professionals too?"
Rafael's silence was agreement.
Aaron said, "Rafael, these are world-renowned medical elites. If you kill them, do you think you can hold onto your position even if you become king?"
Rafael's eyes darkened, silent.
Miguel, impatient, said, "Enough. If you know what's good for you, you Chrisland people should leave the palace and stop interfering in our family affairs."
Aaron's cold eyes swept over him. "Do you think we came unprepared? Rafael, if I don't send a signal within an hour, our Chrisland border troops will send a warning to Hchilia! War will be imminent! Do you, a mere prince, want to become the enemy of all Hchilia?"
Rafael's face changed, trying to stay calm. "Aaron, stop bluffing. I don't believe Chrisland would go to war for you and your wife!"
"Try me," Aaron said, holding Nora, his gaze cold and firm.
The room grew tense. Rafael was uneasy, sweat forming on his forehead.
Miguel, not caring, shouted, "Rafael, stop wasting time! This is our family matter. If these Chrisland people interfere, they're asking for it."
Just then, a subordinate rushed in. "Rafael, Miguel, something's wrong. A lot of people have arrived outside."
"What people?" Miguel asked.
"Government officials. They came to visit King Tomas after hearing about his serious illness," the subordinate replied.
Rafael's expression changed again. 'Important officials here now? Even if I kill Nora and her group, what about these officials? I can't kill them all.'
"Who told them to come?" Rafael's voice cracked.
Aaron chuckled mockingly. "Rafael, with your poor intelligence, you still want to seize power? Even if Hchilia were handed to you, you couldn't manage it!"
Rafael's facial muscles twitched. "Did you notify them?"
"Exactly! When we arrived, I had Gabriella contact a few officials, informing them that both King Tomas and Mateo were ill and asked them to visit."
Aaron's gaze was cold. "Rafael, still want to start a massacre here?"
At that moment, a thud came from inside. It was Mateo banging against the wall for help.
Nora heard it and said to Frederick, "Frederick, go check it out."
Frederick hesitated but followed Nora's order, quickly walking inside.
"Stop him!" Miguel shouted.
Miguel's subordinates clashed with Frederick.
Just then, Aaron and Hugo's men, having dealt with the black-clad men, brought the Hchilia officials in.
Seeing the tense scene, the officials shouted, "Scarlett, Rafael, Miguel, what are you doing?"
Most of the officials were friends of Mateo or neutral parties. When Gabriella called them, they understood the situation. But seeing it firsthand, they were shocked.
They knew Rafael and Miguel opposed Mateo but didn't expect a real coup. They were stunned Rafael and Miguel would disregard Tomas's goddaughter, Nora.
They realized Rafael and Miguel didn't understand or care who Aaron and Nora were in Chrisland. If Aaron and Nora got hurt, Chrisland could wipe out their country tomorrow. How foolish!
