Chapter 1105 Will She Be With Him?
Alfred was caught off guard and took a punch to the chest. Yahir followed up with a kick, and Alfred, unable to dodge, hit the ground hard.
Yahir's face lit up with a triumphant grin.
Alfred got up, clutching his chest, looking pissed. "You cheated!"
"All's fair in love and war, man. You taught me that." Yahir knew Alfred's weak spot was Samantha. The moment he mentioned her being hungry, Alfred got distracted.
Alfred was speechless. He gave Yahir a thumbs-up, "You're good."
Alfred glanced at his watch and headed towards the building. Yahir went off to buy groceries.
Alfred entered the building and made his way to Samantha's door. He took a deep breath and rang the doorbell.
Samantha was curled up on the couch, zoning out in front of the TV. The doorbell rang a few times before she finally noticed.
She turned down the TV, slowly walked to the door, and peeked through the peephole. Seeing it was Alfred, she pursed her lips and opened the door. "What are you doing here? I said I wanted to be alone."
Samantha didn't want to see anyone right now; she was annoyed.
"I won't bother you. You watch TV, I'll go cook," Alfred said gently.
"No need, I'm not hungry," Samantha said, trying to close the door. But Alfred held it open and walked in anyway.
Samantha was already in a bad mood, and seeing him being so stubborn made her even more upset. "I said I'm not hungry, get out!"
"Even if you're upset, you shouldn't neglect your health," Alfred said, heading straight to the kitchen.
Watching Alfred's tall figure, Samantha felt even sadder, like she had found a place to vent her emotions. "You saw that Wesley and I broke up, are you happy now? Are you laughing at how stupid I was?"
Hearing this, Alfred paused. When he turned around and saw the tears in her eyes, he felt a pang of heartache. He walked up to her and held her shoulders. "I'm happy you broke up with Wesley, but I'm not laughing at you. I just think you deserve better. Samantha, I don't know why you broke up with him, but you deserve a better man."
Alfred's tone was so gentle that Samantha's grievances escalated, and her suppressed emotions burst out. "But he was my first love, the first guy I ever liked. Alfred, I feel so awful."
Alfred hugged her, gently patting her back. "Just cry, you'll feel better after you cry."
Samantha closed her eyes and said, "He's a jerk. How could he sleep with another woman and then say he loves me? I really misjudged him."
Alfred frowned. "What did you say? He hooked up with another woman?"
Samantha's sobs quieted, and she didn't respond. After all, Wesley was her first love, she still wanted to leave Wesley some dignity. That was her upbringing.
Seeing Samantha not speaking, Alfred didn't press further. He just felt more and more that Wesley didn't deserve her love.
Elijah's image flashed in his mind. Alfred guessed Wesley had slept with her. After all, the first time he talked to her, he felt something unusual between her and Wesley. "Alright, do you still want to cry? If you do, my shoulder is here for you."
Samantha felt a bit better after letting it all out. She wiped her tears, turned around, and plopped back on the couch to keep watching TV. Her eyes were red, and she curled up like a sad little puppy.
Alfred's eyes softened as he turned and headed to the kitchen.
Soon enough, Yahir came back with the groceries, and Alfred got busy washing and cooking.
In the living room, watching Alfred hustle in the kitchen and hearing the occasional clinking sounds, Samantha felt a strange sense of calm.
Wesley's words kept flashing through her mind.
Samantha bit her lip. She didn't want to break up with Wesley. She still liked him. She wondered if she would end up with Alfred in the future.
She stared at Alfred's figure, shaking her head to clear those messy thoughts. Whether she would be with Alfred in the future was a problem for another day. Right now, she didn't want to date anyone. It was just too much drama and stress.
Meanwhile, in the hospital room, Wesley stared at the still unconscious Elijah with a blank expression. Maybe because he had just broken up with Samantha, he felt like nothing mattered anymore. So even when he found out Elijah had a miscarriage and their first child was gone, he felt nothing.
Cleo's words echoed in Wesley's ears. "You need to calm Elijah down and make sure she keeps quiet about the pregnancy. And you need to find a way to get Samantha's forgiveness. Even if you can't be with her, you can't let her anger lead the Gordon family to blacklist you again."
Wesley gave a self-mocking smile. He didn't care about Samantha's forgiveness anymore. They could do whatever they wanted. He was already thinking about leaving the industry.
Just then, Elijah woke up. Her eyes focused on Wesley's face, and she immediately reached for her stomach. "Wesley, how's our baby?"
Wesley looked at Elijah and said flatly, "The baby is gone."
Compared to his indifference, Elijah was much more emotional upon hearing the news. Her chest heaved, and her eyes instantly welled up.
"Wesley, how could our baby be gone? Baby, it's my fault, I didn't protect you!" Elijah's eyes filled with tears, her face full of pain.
Wesley said nothing, just watched Elijah cry and slowly looked away. Seeing his indifference, Elijah's tears flowed even more. "Wesley, are you relieved? If the baby were still here, you wouldn't be able to explain it to Samantha, right?"
Wesley's gaze returned to Elijah's face, his tone mocking. "Not able to explain it to her? Isn't that what you wanted, Elijah? You got pregnant with my child without telling me, hoping to use the baby to secure your position, right?"
Elijah's eyes flickered. She met Wesley's mocking gaze and stopped crying. She had indeed thought that way. But she had hoped more that Wesley would fall in love with her, not that she would secure her position through the baby. Now that the baby was gone, there was no chance Wesley would fall in love with her.
Elijah struggled to sit up, wanting to say something. At that moment, it seemed like someone was taking pictures at the door.
"Who's out there?" Elijah shouted.
The people at the door were two young nurses. Recognizing Wesley, they were sneaking photos with their phones. Seeing they were caught, they quickly ran away.
Elijah panicked and urged, "Wesley, go see who was taking pictures. Make them delete the photos."
