Chapter 303 I Thought He Really Liked Nora

Sandy pressed her lips together, acknowledging Emma's displeasure with a solemn nod.

"I understand," she admitted, regret seeping into her voice. She regretted her rash words, realizing that given her position, she had no right to meddle in the affairs of the Hamilton family.

Kenneth observed her subdued demeanor, his brows furrowing in concern. He longed to speak up, but a stern glance from his mother forced him to swallow his words. He understood that defending his wife at that moment would only exacerbate his mother's displeasure.

Meanwhile, Ebenezer was still grappling with a piece of information that had caught his attention.

"Hold on, what was that news you just mentioned? Who is Aaron rumored to be involved with now?" he asked, his voice sharp with curiosity.

At this, Suzy's face broke into a malicious grin.

"Dad, you haven't heard yet, have you? A story broke this morning. Last night, a reporter spotted Aaron checking into a hotel in City N with a female celebrity he's had an affair with before."

Ebenezer was taken aback. Such a thing had happened? His expression hardened. "Where's the news? Bring it to me!" he demanded.

"The news has already been suppressed by the Gordon family Group's PR department. But I believe Kenneth and his wife must have seen it,” Suzy replied, her voice dripping with satisfaction.

Ebenezer swung his icy gaze towards Kenneth. "Is that so?"

Kenneth nodded. "It's true."

Ebenezer's expression turned even more frosty.

Beside them, Emma let out a derisive laugh. "I wouldn't have guessed Aaron was just another ordinary man. I thought he had deep feelings for Nora, but it seems it was all a facade!"

With a sharp clatter, Ebenezer put down his fork and rose from the table.

Emma looked at him. "Ebenezer, you're not eating?"

"I've lost my appetite," he replied tersely. How could he eat now? He needed to call Aaron and get the story straight. If Aaron had indeed wronged Nora, he would never allow his daughter to be with him!

Retreating to his study, Ebenezer dialed Aaron's number. The phone rang twice before being answered.

"Uncle," came the response.

"Aaron, what's this news about? Have you truly done something to betray Nora?" Ebenezer asked, his voice stern.

On the other end of the line, Aaron was seated at the table about to have a meal. He glanced at Nora, who was sitting beside him, and responded, "Uncle, I'm in Lindwood City right now. Tomorrow I'll bring Nora over to the Hamilton family for dinner, and we can talk in person."

Hearing this, Ebenezer's spirits lifted. He was going to bring his daughter home for dinner! For a brief moment, the joy of seeing his daughter overpowered the displeasure brewing in his heart.

"That's fine," he said, a hint of relief in his voice. He could always ask his daughter for the full story tomorrow.

Within the opulent confines of Quinn's villa, Aaron had just concluded a phone call when Nora queried, "Are you planning on taking me to dine with the Hamilton family tomorrow?"

A subtle smirk played at the corners of Aaron's mouth as he replied, "Indeed. Are you not keen on meeting the mastermind?"

Nora blinked in surprise, "You're suggesting a face-to-face confrontation with Suzy? But wouldn't that mean missing out on the unfolding drama?"

She was eager to witness the impending clash between Suzy and Sunny. Exposing Suzy prematurely would certainly dampen the entertainment.

Aaron's lips curled into a knowing smile, "I'm not suggesting a direct confrontation, but we can certainly stir the waters a bit."

A spark of understanding ignited in Nora's eyes. She observed the mischievous grin on his face and nodded in agreement. "That could work."

Quinn, who was within earshot, clicked her tongue disapprovingly.

"You two are indeed a perfect pair, both so cunning!"

Aaron raised an eyebrow and took Nora's hand, his gaze brimming with affection.

"Shall we proceed with dinner?"

The question came from the stern-faced Hollis, her tone stiff.

"Let's eat, let's eat," Quinn responded cheerfully, ladling soup into her bowl.

Aaron watched her attentiveness with a narrowed gaze.

Quinn, his prospective mother-in-law, certainly had a fiery Spirit, and to witness such a commanding figure in the business world going out of her way for them?

It was quite the revelation.

The group commenced their meal.

As Hollis took a few bites, she found herself comparing Aaron's graceful demeanor to that of her late son.

If her son were still alive, he would possess the same noble air.

Suddenly, with a sharp clatter, she set down her utensils, her face clouded with a dark expression.

The abrupt noise startled everyone, their attention instantly drawn to her.

"Mrs. Brown, is something wrong?" Nora asked, concern etched on her face.

Hollis attempted to mask her emotions, "Nothing, I'm just not feeling well. Please, continue with your meal."

With that, she had Mary wheel her into her room.

Nora watched her departure, a sense of perplexity washing over her.

"Quinn, should I go check on her?"

"There's no need. Continue with your meal. I'll bring something to her room later," Quinn responded.

Nora cast a glance at Aaron and fell silent.

Aaron's eyes flickered with curiosity, "Quinn, does she perhaps disapprove of my presence?"

Quinn paused mid-reach for another serving, a flicker of emotion crossing her face. "She...?"

"Has she still not accepted you? Does she disapprove of your relationship with Baldwin? Does she still hope that Nora will become her daughter-in-law?" Aaron continued.

Quinn blinked, momentarily taken aback, before breaking into a smile. "Yes, that's it. Seeing you here, so affectionate with Nora, it's no wonder she reacted so strongly. If it weren't for you winning Nora's heart first, she could have continued to try to pair her with Baldwin."

It was perhaps for the best that Aaron remained oblivious to the entire truth.

Aaron shot her a glance and elegantly wiped the corner of his mouth with a napkin.

"Quinn, are you hiding something from me?"

Years in the ruthless world of business had sharpened his intuition.

There was something slightly off about Quinn's microexpressions!

"Not at all! Aaron, you're being overly suspicious again," Quinn chided, feigning nonchalance.

Aaron's dark eyes bore into her as if attempting to decipher her thoughts from her expression.

Quinn busied herself with her meal, avoiding his gaze, but couldn't suppress a shiver running up her spine.

Just then, the doorbell of the villa chimed.

Quinn abruptly set her utensils aside, her eyes darting towards the door. "Who could that be at this hour?" she wondered aloud. "Please, continue with your meal. I'll see who it is."

Despite her profession as an actress, she felt the weight of his penetrating gaze. She was desperate, hoping against hope that he wouldn't manage to uncover her secrets.

With a puzzled expression, she opened the door. Her initial surprise swiftly morphed into delight as she recognized the figure standing before her.

It was none other than Baldwin!

"Baldwin, what brings you here?" she exclaimed, her voice filled with surprise and delight.

Clad in casual attire, Baldwin cut a striking figure. His tall frame and handsome features were accentuated by his warm smile directed at Quinn.

"Am I not welcome here?" he teased, his eyes twinkling with mischief.

"Of course not! You're more than welcome, warmly welcome!" Quinn gushed, her excitement palpable as she leaped into Baldwin's arms, planting a kiss on his cheek.

Baldwin caught her with ease, his arms wrapping around her as they shared a passionate kiss. His hands supported her as she clung to him, lost in the moment.

Inside, Nora's curiosity was piqued as Quinn didn't return. She ventured towards the doorway, her voice echoing through the room, "Quinn, who is it?"
