Chapter 826 Millie Was Missing
Hearing this, Jane's face turned a bit colder.
"Even if he wants to, he won't be able to. The police are re-investigating all of Alvin's past crimes. With his past record of violence and sexual assault, Alvin could face serious legal repercussions."
This Alvin, the more they dug his past, the more shocking it got.
Alvin had sexually assaulted more than one girl, but the cases were all dropped after the girls changed their statements.
Not only that, Alvin had also injured residents of a neighborhood undergoing demolition.
The injured resident had led a protest due to dissatisfaction with the Wright Group's compensation but was beaten severely, and the case was also dropped.
Currently, several of her colleagues were communicating with the victims, preparing to reopen the cases.
Zephyr's face grew more serious.
"Alvin dares to act so recklessly because Hubert is backing him."
Jane nodded. "Speaking of which, there must be a lot of illegal things within the Wright family. If the heir of a company is driven by greed or malice, trouble is brewing."
Zephyr naturally understood this. "That's why I don't get involved."
Jane smiled. "You're pretty smart."
Zephyr smiled back and said nothing more.
The two parked their car in the old alley's parking lot and then walked together to a small restaurant.
Before long, another car drove in.
The man in the car looked to be in his thirties, wearing a black baseball cap and a rugged appearance.
He looked at the backs of Jane and Zephyr, his gaze cold and sinister.
Nora had been busy all day in Carl's lab, but she didn't feel tired. Mainly because no one had disturbed her sleep these past few nights.
She was well-rested and naturally full of energy.
In the evening, after finishing her work, Nora watched the sky outside gradually darken and instinctively glanced at her phone.
Sure enough, Aaron hadn't contacted her these past few days.
He must still be at the base.
She wondered if there were any beautiful women at the base eyeing him.
Or if Aaron would take this opportunity to fool around outside.
After all, Aaron had a high sex drive.
Nora's mind wandered, and she then laughed and patted her forehead.
Idle hands and minds often led to overthinking, a familiar trap she was now caught in.
Ridiculous.
"Nora, why haven't you left yet?"
Carl came out of the room and saw Nora standing by the window in a daze, and asked.
Nora snapped back to reality and smiled. "I'm just being dedicated, trying to help you finish the project sooner."
Carl looked at her. "I don't believe it. Is it beacuse Mr. Gordon is not home?"
Nora laughed. "Professor, you know me too well."
Carl waved his hand. "Be safe on your way back."
"Don't overwork yourself."
Nora exchanged a few words with Carl, then grabbed her bag and left.
Just as she left the lab, she received a call from Percy Hawkins, the driver from the Gordon Manor.
"Ms. Smith, did you pick up Millie from the training class?"
Hearing this, Nora was slightly stunned. "No, why do you ask?"
Millie attended a training class, and then the Hamilton family and the Gordon Manor always arranged for a driver to pick her up.
She had always been assured and never questioned it, focusing on her work in the lab.
"Millie is missing." Percy's voice was anxious.
Nora was shocked. "What? Millie is missing? When did this happen?"
"Just now!"
Percy said, "I was waiting in the car for Millie to finish class. When the time was about right, I went upstairs to get her. But the teacher said you had picked her up earlier."
Nora's heart sank. "I didn't pick Millie up."
Millie was missing!
Someone had impersonated Nora to take her away!
"Ms. Smith, what should we do now? Should we call the police?" Percy's voice was panicked.
Nora swallowed and tried to stay calm.
"I'll go to the training center right away to figure out what's going on."
She hung up and quickly got into Frederick's car, asking him to take her to the training center.
When Frederick learned that Millie was missing, his face turned serious, and he sped up.
They soon arrived at the training center.
The art class teacher, Donna Rivera, and the center's administrator, Sandra Ward, were waiting for Nora, their faces tense.
After all, Millie's disappearance was their responsibility.
"Mrs. Gordon, you're here."
"Check the surveillance," Nora didn't waste any words and said directly.
"Okay."
Sandra and Donna quickly pulled up the classroom surveillance footage.
Donna said, "Millie's mom, I'm cluelessabout who would impersonate you to pick up Millie. During the break, Nathan said you had come early to pick up Millie, and I didn't think much of it and let him take Millie."
Nathan took Millie away.
Nora's heart skipped a beat, and she quickly asked, "Where is him now?"
"Nathan sent me a message shortly after taking Millie out, saying he had something to do and left," Donna said truthfully.
Nora's eyelid kept twitching.
How could it be such a coincidence that Millie was taken away and Nathan never returned?
At this point, the classroom surveillance footage was pulled up.
Nora watched and saw it was normal classroom footage.
Nathan occasionally walked by Millie, and when Millie started drawing, he would guide her.
In the half-hour footage, no suspicious person entered the classroom.
During the break, Nathan took a phone call.
Then he told Donna he was taking Millie out of the classroom.
Nora pressed her red lips tightly, her eyes fixed on the man.
"Nathan was definitely up to something," she thought, "It was all too much of a coincidence."
'Millie had never mentioned wanting to learn to draw before, and suddenly she wanted to.'
'And she seemed very familiar with Nathan.'
'Was this Nathan deliberately getting close to Millie?'
Nora was full of regret.
How could she have foolishly listened to Millie and enrolled her in this training class?
"Call Nathan right away."
"We already called him, but his phone is off," Sandra said.
Nora had expected this result.
Asking them to call Nathan was just a hopeful attempt.
Maybe she was overthinking and misunderstanding Nathan.
But now it seemed she wasn't overthinkingNathan was suspicious.
Nora suppressed her panic and asked, "Do you have his information?"
"Yes."
Sandra quickly went to get Nathan's information.
"Mrs. Gordon, are you suspecting Mr. Gray took Millie?" the teacher asked tentatively.
"It's hard to say."
Nora had this suspicion, but without evidence, she couldn't jump to conclusions.
"I don't think so."
Donna hesitated. "Nathan is an intern; he just started a little over a month ago. He doesn't talk much but is very dedicated, often volunteering to hand out the training center's flyers. He's a well-behaved person."
