Chapter 328 Show Your Thanks Through Actions
"All right, we're heading off now." Aaron didn't linger, wrapping his arm around Nora as they walked out.
"Quinn, I won't go and greet Mrs. Brown right now. I'll come back tomorrow afternoon to do her acupuncture," Nora said.
Quinn nodded, "Okay."
Aaron and Nora got into the car, and Nora said, "You should go inside, it's chilly out here."
"Okay, take care on the road," Quinn watched the car drive off.
The autumn night was cool as water, and she subconsciously rubbed her arms. A warmth settled on her shoulders; someone had draped a men's coat over her.
Quinn turned around, her gaze colliding with Baldwin's dark eyes.
"Have they left?" Baldwin asked.
She answered, "Yes." Quinn smoothed out her hair trapped under the coat.
Baldwin watched her delicate beauty, hesitant to speak, "Just now, my mom, she..."
Quinn finished fixing her hair, noticing his troubled expression, "What is it you want to say?"
Baldwin moved his lips, struggling to say, "Did my mom put poison in Aaron's sweet soup?"
So that's what he was referring to? She had thought that Baldwin would harbor doubts against her because of his mother's words, suspecting she had some affair with Aaron.
Quinn relaxed, "Probably."
Baldwin's expression turned stern; he knew his mother too well, her heart set on avenging the Gordon family.
Aaron was certainly restless with anticipation here.
But Baldwin had hoped against hope, assuming that after all this time his mother might have been influenced by Quinn.
Unexpectedly his mother had still taken that step and nearly poisoned Aaron.
"Don't make a face like that, nothing happened, right?" Quinn said, seeing the flash of pain in his eyes and lifting her hand to straighten his collar for him.
Under the cold moonlight, her beauty was enchanting and serene, as if nothing had ever happened.
Thinking about how she almost drank that bowl of toxic sweet soup, Baldwin's heart shuddered, and he couldn't help but hold her tightly.
"Quinn, thank you." He was grateful to her for stopping his mother from making another mistake.
And he was more thankful that she had come into his life, sharing his burdens, as he watched his mother walk towards the abyss, feeling powerless to stop her.
She had become a part of his heart, and he could not live without her anymore. His embrace was passionate and firm.
Quinn patted his back playfully. "Show your thanks with actions," she teased. Her smile was captivating, making her look like the most charming creature in the world, driving him insane.
Baldwin cupped her face tenderly and leaned in and placed a gentle kiss on her lips. The moonlight cast their intertwined silhouettes on the ground.
Meanwhile, in the room, Mary took the empty cup from Hollis after she finished drinking and asked, "You're just going to let him go like that?"
Hollis was silent for a moment, then sighed, "Mary, have I gotten old?" Her heart had softened as well, to think that such a perfect opportunity had been squandered.
"It's not that. Quinn is just too formidable; she's changed you without you even realizing," Mary said with a chuckle.
Hearing this, Hollis's gaze flickered; she didn't want to admit it, but she had to acknowledge the truth.
That girl was indeed formidable. How could she have grown fearful of her?
Thinking of something, she frowned, "Mary, do you think Baldwin will now be completely under her control?"
Mary asked deliberately, "Should we then separate the two of them?"
‘Separate them? This...’ Hollis thought about how Quinn had taken care of her recently and unexpectedly felt a bit reluctant to part with her.
Hearing Mary's laughter, Hollis glanced at her, snapped back to reality, and felt a tinge of embarrassment.
"Mary, are you making fun of me?" she asked.
Mary chuckled, "Not at all, I'm rather grateful to her. Ever since she appeared on the scene, you've become less cynical, and your mindset has gradually mellowed out."
Really? Had her mindset gradually mellowed out?
Hollis furrowed her brow and muttered under her breath, "That little witch has a bewitching way about her."
Oh, well. She truly was getting old; it was time to let nature take its course. Just because she hadn't acted against Aaron didn't mean he would be safe.
There were plenty of people out for his life. Whether he could live it in peace depended on his own fate.
At the Heston Club, most famous place in Lindwood City for relaxation and entertainment all under one roof. Aaron and Nora had arrived late, only to find that the guest rooms were fully booked.
Nora's face fell, "Aaron, should we look for another hotel to stay at?"
Aaron felt apologetic, "Sorry, I hate that you have to run around with me so late at night."
This wasn't his territory, and therefore he couldn't control the situation.
Nora smiled; it didn't really matter to her where they stayed, she was just disappointed about missing Suzy's performance firsthand.
She imagined that by now, Suzy and Jackson were probably in their room.
"Is that Mr. Gordon?" A lazy masculine voice called from behind them.
Both turned around to see a tall young man with delicate, pale skin walking towards them, adorned in a colorful shirt and a white suit. He was more strikingly handsome than most women.
A long-haired woman with a guitar on her back followed him. She was fashionably dressed and extraordinarily beautiful.
"Mr. Turner?" Aaron recognized the man and greeted him.
Fabio's eyes, slightly upturned, glanced over their luggage. He teased, "Mr. Gordon, out for a stay?"
"Yes," Aaron responded. "But Young Master Turner, your business acumen is so strong that your club is fully booked."
"Thanks for the compliment, Mr. Gordon!" Fabio's captivating gaze swept over Nora. "You two looking to enjoy some alone time? Since you're on my turf, I ought to extend some hospitality. Tell you what, my love-themed rooms are the most atmospheric. Don't go anywhere else; I'll sort this out for you."
With that, he approached the front desk and uttered a few words. The staff at the front desk quickly handed over a respectful room card to him.
Fabio took the room card, turned, and handed it to Aaron.
"Mr. Gordon, take it, this is my personal suite. I hope you both have a memorable night," said a man, handing Aaron a key card.
Aaron lifted an eyebrow slightly, but didn't bother with formalities, accepting the card with a terse, "Thanks."
With a seductive smile, Fabio said, "Just remember you owe me one, Mr. Gordon."
Aaron's lips curled slightly at the corners in understanding. "Definitely."
People outside the Turner circle thought their young master was a frivolous playboy, indulging in every vice imaginable. But Aaron saw through the facade; he knew it was just an act meant for the public eye.
Maybe there might come a day when the power dynamics in the Turner family would shift.
Now, by getting on the young master's good side, Aaron was essentially securing his place as an ally, which was a development he welcomed.
"I'll leave you two, then. We'll touch base later," said Fabio.
"Sure," Aaron nodded lightly.
"See ya," Fabio winked at Nora, and then, with his arm around a woman nearby, he sauntered off.
Nora looked on, intrigued, still marveling at just how handsome the Turner scion was.
"That Turner heir was as pretty as a picture," she blurted out without thinking.
Aaron's gaze at that moment was fixed on the woman by Fabio's side. She seemed familiar. Where had he seen her before? A flicker of recognition crossed his eyes, and they narrowed slightly.
