Chapter 1104 Parting on Good Terms
"Samantha," Ryan's voice came from behind, catching her off guard.
She spun around to see Ryan and Alfred striding towards her. A flood of emotions hit her, and tears started to well up.
"What are you doing here?" Alfred had found out from Yahir that Samantha had left after seeing the doctor, so he and Ryan rushed over.
Alfred was still confused about why Wesley was there. Seeing Samantha's teary eyes and hurt expression, his heart clenched. "What happened? Who messed with you?"
Ryan's face darkened when he saw Samantha like this. He shot a glare at Wesley. "Did you mess with her?"
Wesley looked at Alfred and Ryan standing protectively by Samantha, a wild look in his eyes like he wanted to take them all down. "Samantha, you still haven't answered my question. Or are you too proud to answer because Alfred's just a backup? After dumping me, you wouldn't really be with him, right?"
Samantha looked at Wesley, feeling utterly let down, not wanting to say a word.
Ryan squinted, looking suspicious. "Samantha, what's he talking about?"
Samantha shook her head, not wanting to deal with Wesley anymore. "Ryan, Alfred, it's over. Let's go."
Ryan raised an eyebrow, thinking, 'Samantha and Wesley are done? Didn't they just get back together? How'd they break up again?' But he was kinda happy about it.
Seeing them about to leave, Wesley's chest heaved. "Samantha, why won't you answer me? Did I hit the nail on the head? If so, we're the same, so don't act all high and mighty!"
"Enough," Samantha snapped, "Wesley, let me keep a bit of respect for you. Don't make me completely lose it."
She looked at Wesley, holding back her emotions. "I don't answer you because your questions are childish! I broke up with you, and it has nothing to do with anyone else. I dared to love and hate, and I wanted to be with you because I liked you. Now I realize I was wrong, so I'm cutting my losses.
Whether I end up with someone else is my business. If I like Alfred, I'll be with him. If not, we're still friends.
If you want to think I'm like you, go ahead. But I still want to say, Wesley, can't we part on good terms?"
Samantha didn't speak harshly or lose her cool like Wesley. But her words hit him hard.
Wesley didn't want to part on good terms; he wanted to stay together. He loved her and didn't want to break up.
Wesley stared blankly as Samantha turned and left, pain flashing in his eyes. He knew it was over. "Samantha."
Samantha slowed her steps a bit but didn't stop, leaving with Alfred and Ryan.
Cleo watched from the side, feeling scared. Only after they left did she sigh. "Wesley, how could you talk to Samantha like that? Women are soft-hearted. Couldn't you explain properly and win her back? Now you've pissed her off, and your career is over!"
Wesley stared blankly ahead, looking dejected. Samantha seemed soft-hearted, but she was decisive just now. Even if he begged her again, she wouldn't change her mind.
Right now, Wesley felt totally bummed out, like nothing mattered anymore. Everything he had was because of Samantha. If she wanted to take it all back, he wouldn't even argue.
The three of them walked out of the hospital, and Alfred was still mulling over Samantha's words. She said if she liked him, she'd be with him. If not, they'd still be friends.
Alfred thought, 'What the heck did Samantha and Wesley talk about? Why'd she say that? Did that jerk Wesley say something to hurt her again?'
"Samantha, what happened? Why's Wesley here?" Ryan was the first to ask.
Samantha just felt drained. She shook her head. "Ryan, don't ask. I'm really tired. I just wanna go home."
Her voice was low, and she looked totally wiped out.
Ryan didn't push it. "Alright, I won't ask."
Even though he didn't know what went down, Samantha breaking up with Wesley was a win in his book.
Ryan shot Alfred a look that said, 'Dude, this is your chance.' Samantha was single again, giving Alfred another shot.
Alfred was pretty stoked. Even though it felt kinda wrong to be happy now, he couldn't help it.
It wasn't just about him; he genuinely thought Wesley didn't deserve Samantha.
Like Samantha said, breaking up with Wesley was cutting her losses. As for the future, whether she'd choose him, Alfred didn't dare to hope, but he still had a glimmer of expectation.
Ryan drove Samantha back to her apartment. In the car, she didn't say much. Ryan tried to get her to talk, but she just gave half-hearted smiles.
When they arrived, Ryan said, "Samantha, I gotta run, so I won't come up. Alfred, take good care of her for me."
Alfred was about to agree, but Samantha cut in, "I wanna be alone for a bit."
She was basically telling Alfred not to come up. Alfred didn't argue.
Watching her get out of the car and head into the building, Alfred stayed put.
Ryan said, "Alfred, she's in a bad place right now. Keep an eye on her. Use some tactics if you have to, don't just stand there."
Alfred smiled at Ryan's suggestion and said, "Drive safe, man."
Ryan waved and drove off.
Alfred stood there, thinking. Since Samantha wanted to chill alone, he'd give her space.
"Didn't I tell you not to just stand there like an idiot? Why don't you go up?" Yahir came out of nowhere, speaking slowly.
Alfred looked at the building and said, "Going up now would just annoy her."
Yahir gave him a look. "So when are you gonna go up?"
Alfred thought for a moment. "I'll wait a bit longer."
Yahir smirked, "Oh, then how about we spar again?"
Alfred rolled his eyes. He knew it. Yahir just wanted to spar.
Alfred glanced at Yahir. "Didn't get enough last time? I'm full of energy now."
Samantha's breakup had him feeling pumped.
Yahir's knuckles cracked. "One more round, I can definitely beat you this time."
"Really? Alright, let's do it." Since Alfred had nothing better to do, he might as well get some exercise.
The two found a quiet spot and started sparring. Every punch landed solidly, and their moves were intense.
Alfred was usually better at this than Yahir. But out of nowhere, after taking a punch, Yahir suddenly said, "Miss Gordon must be hungry."
