Chapter 97 Perks
"Alright, you can go take a shower. I'll call Frederick to assist you," Nora said after she packed up the acupuncture kit, yawning and wobbling her way out.
Aaron arched a brow. "Nora, didn't you just tell the kids that you'd take care of me? Why not help me with my ablutions?"
Nora glanced back at him with a weary expression. "I've been taking care of you all day. I'm beaten. I'm calling in a night off."
Aaron couldn't help but chuckle.
She had been on edge all day, dealing with perps and outwitting clients. She truly had a tough day!
Frederick entered, guiding Aaron into the bathroom.
After soaking in a hot bath, Frederick helped him dress in pajamas and blow-dry his hair before Aaron emerged from the bathroom.
He scanned the bedroom but didn't see Nora anywhere.
"Nora?" Aaron called out.
A faint noise came from the living room.
"Mr. Gordon, Nora seems to be in the living room."
Frederick said, pushing Aaron toward the living room.
Aaron was still pondering if Nora had drunk too much and fallen asleep on the couch.
But when he saw the scene in the living room, he was taken aback.
Nora was on her knees on the carpet, with an open suitcase beside her.
She was holding surgical tools, stitching up a silicone prosthetic!
Aaron fell silent.
What was going on here?
Was Nora treating the silicone like a human body, performing surgery?
It was unnerving, a drunk with a scalpel conducting surgery on a prosthetic late at night.
Aaron swallowed hard, relieved that Nora hadn't turned him into a guinea pig.
"Nora, maybe you should go freshen up?"
Upon hearing his voice, Nora raised her dazed eyes and blurted, "Thomas, are you finished washing up? Come on, let's go to bed, and I’ll take care of you."
Aaron was speechless.
Another check-up?
Hadn't she just performed one?
Nora seemed really drunk!
"Nora, you just did acupuncture on me."
Nora frowned beautifully. "I did? You're talking nonsense! Thomas, don’t think you can skip out on tonight's treatment just because I'm drunk."
How was he supposed to prove he'd already been through the ordeal once?
"Nora, you really did perform acupuncture on Mr. Gordon already."
Even Frederick couldn't keep silent and chimed in a reminder.
Nora glanced at him, tilting her head as she tried to recall.
"Thomas, if the acupuncture's done, then let me give you a physical check-up now."
Aaron was speechless again.
So, no matter what, she insisted on treating him again?
"Nora, everything's fine with me except for my leg."
Nora shot him a look. "That's what all sick people say. Thomas, don't ignore your health."
His body was fine, really.
Why wouldn't she believe him?
"Mr. Gordon."
Frederick cast a concerned glance at Nora's drunken form and called out to Aaron.
Aaron gestured for Frederick to help get him into bed, then said, "You can go now, Fred. Get some sleep."
Fred took a look at Nora, who was fiddling with a stethoscope, unsure of what to say.
The thought of a tipsy Nora performing surgery on Mr. Gordon sent chills down his spine.
"Mr. Gordon, just holler if you need anything."
Still uneasy, Fred reluctantly left the room.
Nora glanced at Aaron. "Thomas, lie down properly."
She began unbuttoning his pajamas as she spoke.
Aaron watched her with the stethoscope, her hands roving over him, touching him, pressing him. He swallowed hard.
He remembered a previous allergic reaction and how she had soothed him.
This woman was definitely testing his willpower.
No man could withstand a woman's hands wandering all over him.
"Nora!"
Aaron couldn't help but grasp her wandering hand.
Nora lifted the stethoscope away and leaned in a bit closer.
"Thomas, you have a heart condition, don't you? Your heart's racing."
Aaron's eyes darkened. "Nora, I don't have a heart condition. But when I see you, my heart speeds up. What do you call that?"
Her pretty almond eyes were glazed with intoxication.
"Thomas, are you scared of me?"
He moved her hand to rest over his heart.
"Nora, I'm not afraid of you. Think again. Why would a man's heart race at the sight of a woman?"
She blinked as if the answer was obvious. "Oh, it's like seeing a ghost!"
He was speechless.
A drunken mind indeed wanders off the usual paths!
"Thomas, don't be scared; I'm not a ghost; I'm a master healer."
Nora pulled her hand back, patted him cheerily, and got ready to leave.
Aaron pulled her down onto the bed. "Where do you think you're going?"
Her head was swimming, the last of her sobriety slipping away.
"Thomas, I'm so tired. I need to sleep."
She yawned and curled her arm around his, closing her eyes in peace.
Aaron stared at her, infuriated.
Did she just fall asleep like that after all that teasing?
His gaze landed on her red lips, inching closer.
She had teased him for so long that he deserved some kind of reward.
Her lips carried a hint of liquor, intoxicating as an aphrodisiac, utterly bewitching.
Aaron couldn't help but pull her in closer, his embrace transitioning from a light taste to a deep, fervent kiss.
The desire within threatened to consume him with its fiery urgency.
Suddenly, a tap on the head jolted him back to reality, his hazy thoughts scattered.
As he opened eyes heavy with longing, he saw the woman in his arms with her eyes sealed shut, lips parted, and her breathing heavy, irritation etched on her face.
“Big Bear cut it out!”
She mistook him for Big Bear again! Aaron felt a pang of jealousy for that teddy bear.
In another luxurious suite.
Gayle sat on the sofa. His expression was dark, with Finn standing before him.
"Smith actually turned you down?" Gayle's voice was laced with disbelief.
He had instructed Finn to seduce Smith, hoping to cement their business deal.
But Smith didn't bite!
"Yeah, I kept dropping hints, but he played deaf and dumb," Finn reported.
Gayle narrowed his eyes at Finn. "Maybe he isn't into your type?"
Finn slumped onto the sofa, nestling into his embrace. "But you said no man could resist me."
Her hands roamed restlessly across Gayle's chest.
He chuckled, capturing her hand and pressing a kiss to it.
"Who could resist your charm? Probably the presence of his wife made him hesitate."
If that was the case, he'd have to find another way!
A sinister glint flickered in Gayle's eyes as a new plan took shape.
"So, should I keep playing the seductress?" Finn's voice was flirty.
Gayle lifted her chin, his eyes filled with lust. "No need to seduce him anymore. Tonight, you'll take good care of me."
