Chapter 551 Her Face is Ruined

Nora was staring at her. She was puzzled.

Nora asked, "Sandy, why are you wearing a veil? Are you afraid of being recognized? I've already found you. There's no need to be afraid anymore."

Nora reached out and removed Sandy's veil.

Sandy's eyes flashed with panic, and she instinctively wanted to cover her face. But then, as if resolving something within herself, she slowly lowered her hands.

Nora's eyes widened as she saw the scars on Sandy's face.

Nora questioned with concern, "Sandy, what happened to your face? Who did this to you?"

There were two hideous scars marring Sandy's once beautiful cheeks.

Nora thought, 'How did this happen? No wonder she wears a veil.'

Sandy touched her face, and smiled faintly, saying, "I did it to myself."

Nora was shocked, her eyes widening even more.

Nora asked, "You did this to yourself? Why?"

Sandy lowered her gaze and spoke softly, "Because I wanted to change myself completely. I wanted to rid myself of the identity of Cora. If I ruin my face, no one will recognize me as Cora. I would become a new person, Sandy."

Nora thought, 'So that's why.'

Nora's nose stung. She remarked, "Sandy, why are you so foolish? If you wanted to change, we could have gone to a cosmetic clinic and made some minor adjustments to your face. Why did you hurt yourself?"

Sandy smiled and replied, "Because this is my punishment. It was my fault that Kenneth had a car accident. I should be punished."

Nora thought, 'Is it because of that?'

Nora felt a pang of sorrow. She chided, "So, you resorted to self-harm? Sandy, what can I say?"

Zephyr stared at Sandy's face, his fists clenching, his Adam's apple bobbing, eyes full of pain.

He thought, 'She's so foolish. Just because Kenneth had an accident, she blames herself. She ruined her face.'

It was precisely because Sandy was so kind-hearted that he couldn't forget her.

Zephyr swallowed hard, urging, "Dr. Hernandez, eat your food."

Nora sniffled and insisted, "Yes, Sandy, you should eat something."

"Okay," Sandy agreed and began to eat.

Her movements remained elegant and gentle.

Nora looked at the scars on her face, feeling deeply distressed.

Nora thought, 'Sandy is so foolish. She makes my heart ache.'

As Sandy ate, she couldn't help but think of Kenneth, who was still in a coma when she left. She couldn't resist asking, "Nora, how is Kenneth?"

Sandy hoped Nora would tell her that Kenneth had regained consciousness and was about to wake up.

However, what she heard was, "He's still in a coma."

Sandy thought, 'Still in a coma?'

A shadow of sadness crossed Sandy's eyes. She lost her appetite.

Mechanically, she continued to eat, her head bowed in silence.

Nora informed, "Sandy, we all know you were framed. It was all Suzy's plot. Kenneth's accident wasn't your fault. Suzy was the one who caused it."

Nora had come here to tell Sandy the truth and bring her home.

Hearing this, Sandy's hand tightened around her fork. "I suspected that Suzy was involved that day. What did she do?" she asked.

Nora revealed, "She bribed Kenneth's assistant to send you messages from Kenneth's phone, and then..."

Nora briefly recounted what happened at the club that day.

Then she told Sandy everything that had happened since.

Sandy listened intently. She was surprised to learn about Nora's true identity.

Finally, she heard that Suzy had died in a car accident. A flicker of satisfaction crossed her eyes.

Sandy remarked, "She got what she deserved."

She thought, 'That vicious woman is finally dead! Good.'

"Yes, she did," Nora agreed, kneeling down and taking Sandy's hand.

Nora coaxed, "Sandy, we know the truth now. Come back with me."

Nora thought, 'Will she come back with me?'

Sandy put down her fork, glanced at her swollen belly, and shook her head.

Sandy refused, "I won't go back."

Nora frowned, and asked, "Why not?"

"Because I bring misfortune to you all. I can't go back and harm you again," Sandy said softly.

Nora was speechless. She said, "Sandy, Kenneth's accident wasn't your fault. You don't need to take all the blame."

Sandy smiled with a hint of sadness in her eyes.

Sandy insisted, "Nora, you don't need to say anymore. I won't go back."

She was afraid. Afraid that if she returned, she would hurt those she cared about again. She couldn't take that risk.

"Sandy..." Nora wanted to persuade her further, but Zephyr intervened.

Zephyr said, "Dr. Hamilton, don't say anymore. Everyone has the freedom to choose the life they want. Dr. Hernandez doesn't want to go back, so don't force her."

Nora looked at him, then at Sandy, asking, "Sandy, you're carrying Kenneth's child. Are you going to give birth here?"

Sandy touched her belly and nodded. She said, "The scenery here is beautiful, and the people are nice. This place suits me."

After a moment of silence, Nora asked, "What will you do after the baby is born?"

Sandy's fingers curled slightly at her side.

Sandy said, "After the baby is born, I'll seek advice from Ebenezer and Emma. If they allow me to raise the child, that would be best. If not, I'll ask them to take the child."

She thought, 'This child belongs to the Hamilton family. Ebenezer and Emma should come to take him.'

Thinking about how the Hamilton family would take the baby away after a few months, Sandy felt a pang of sadness.

She swallowed, forcing down all the bitterness.

She thought, 'I always bring misfortune to those around me. The child living at the Hamilton Villa is the best choice.'
"Sandy, you've thought this through. But what about Kenneth? Have you thought about him? Are you really going to give up on him?" Nora asked.

Sandy clenched her fingers, forcing back the tears in her eyes, and nodded.

She replied, "Yes, I've signed the divorce papers. I've given up on him."

She thought, 'Without me, he'll wake up sooner!'

"Sandy, don't be like this. I know you can't let go of Kenneth. You're afraid of hurting those you care about, right?"

Seeing the determination and sadness in Sandy's eyes, Nora felt heartbroken.

Sandy smiled, pretending to be relaxed. She claimed, "Nora, don't think too highly of me. I'm just tired. I don't want to fight against fate anymore."

She put her veil back on, stood up, and said, "Nora, you should go back. I'll go check on the newborn."

Zephyr listened quietly to their conversation, worried. He thought Sandy would be persuaded by Nora and return with her. He didn't expect Sandy to be so resolute.

He thought, 'She won't go back. Will she live here forever?'

He was happy. He nodded slightly to Nora, then followed Sandy into the room.
