Chapter 512 She Was Wrong

Sandy burst into tears.

Nora sighed, holding her shoulders and advising, "Sandy, you're still pregnant. You have to be strong."

Sandy wiped her tears and asked, "Can I see him?"

Nora hesitated and replied, "Kenneth is in the ICU, and you shouldn't be moving around."

"I promise I'll stay calm," Sandy pleaded. "Please, Nora, take me to him."

Nora relented and agreed, "Okay, but you can't get agitated."

After Sandy changed into sterile clothing, Nora accompanied her to the ICU.

Seeing Kenneth swollen and connected to various tubes, Sandy couldn't hold back her tears.

Nora comforted her, "Take a deep breath, don't get upset."

Sandy composed herself, wiped her tears, and held Kenneth's hand, muttering, "Honey, it's me. Can you hear me? Wake up, please. You said you were lucky."

"Why are you still here? You promised to be my support. Wake up, or they'll think I'm a jinx!" Sandy cried, but Kenneth remained unresponsive.

Nora, feeling for her, stood by silently, holding back her tears. Soon, the heart monitor beeped.

Nora checked and saw Kenneth's condition deteriorating.

"Nora, what's happening?" Sandy asked, panicked.

Nora's expression turned serious as she quickly pulled Sandy away.

"You need to leave," she ordered.

"I can help," Sandy insisted.

"You're helping by leaving," Nora said firmly.

Understanding the gravity of the situation, Sandy left the ICU. Leaning against the wall, she let her tears fall.

She thought, ‘ I was wrong. I shouldn't have been so naive. Suzy was right. I am a jinx.’

The door to the ICU opened, and Nora walked out, exhausted. "Kenneth is fine. Let's go back," she said to Sandy.

"I want to stay with him a little longer," Sandy replied, her eyes filled with sorrow.

Nora wanted to say something, but in the end, she stayed silent, accompanying Sandy.

As Sandy looked at Kenneth through the glass, her resolve grew. Perhaps it was time for her to leave. Would he wake up if she did?

Meanwhile, in Emma's ward, Suzy hadn't told Emma about Kenneth's accident, only that he was angry after seeing Sandy and Zephyr together.

She orchestrated today's events. She knew Kenneth's assistant, Ayden, whose mother used to serve Emma before retiring. Emma had always taken care of them, so Ayden, despite being Kenneth's assistant, remained loyal to Emma.

Last time, Emma had asked him to help switch Aaron and the three children's DNA test results, so she called Ayden to help them.

Ayden complied and seized an opportunity to message Sandy from Kenneth's phone, asking her to bring stomach medicine to the club.

Once Sandy entered the designated room, the person waiting inside drugged her, then used her phone to message Zephyr, asking him to meet up.

The person who drugged Sandy was a club employee that Ayden had bribed.

The employee didn't enter the room through the window, as Sandy suspected, but through a hidden door that connected to the adjacent room, which the designer had created at the customer's request.

"He saw his wife betray him and still won't divorce her? Is he even a man?" Emma asked, hearing Suzy mention Kenneth's trip.

Suzy quickly said, "Mom, don't worry. Let Kenneth calm down. If he really refuses to divorce, we can find a way to force that jinx to take the initiative."

Emma's face eased a bit, and she nodded and asked, "What about your Dad? Where has he been all afternoon? Why isn't he here with me?"

Suzy stared and said, "Mom, Dad, and Kenneth are both smart. It's better not to mention what happened at lunch in front of them."

Emma was a bit displeased and retorted, "So what? Cora betrayed Kenneth, and I want Kenneth to divorce her. What's wrong with that?"

Suzy said, "You know Dad's personality. He hates it when people play tricks. If he knew it was my idea to frame Cora, he would scold me."

Emma glanced at her and said, "Fine, I understand."

Just then, Ebenezer and Howard, who looked tired, walked in, one after the other.

Emma frowned and asked, "Where have you two been? Why do you look so bad?"

Howard glanced at Ebenezer, trying to appear calm, and said, "Really? I probably just haven't been sleeping well these past few days."

Dad said not to let Mom know about Kenneth's accident, afraid it would upset her.

"You don't need to stay at the hospital tonight. There are nurses here to take care of me. You can all go back and rest," Emma said.

"Okay," Howard said and left the hospital after a while.

Suzy followed.

Ebenezer, worried about Kenneth, was absent-minded while talking to Emma. It was only when Emma urged him to leave that he went to the ICU again. He stood there, exhausted.

"Dad," Nora greeted, and she was worried to see Ebenezer standing still as she returned after sending Sandy back to the ward.
