Chapter 470 The Secret

"He's just a colleague of mine," Sandy replied.

"Just a colleague? But you seem to be quite close to him," Suzy deliberately asked.

These suggestive words made Nora uncomfortable.

"Sandy is easy-going and has good relationships with all her colleagues. Do you have anything else? If not, we're going to have lunch," Nora interjected with a smile, reassuring and encouraging Sandy.

Sandy caught her gaze, and her originally tense nerves relaxed a bit. She returned a smile and continued walking with Nora.

Suzy watched their backs and felt suspicious.

Zephyr and Sandy were definitely more than just colleagues.

Judging by Sandy's expression, she must be keeping some secret from Kenneth.

Nora glanced at Sandy, who remained silent and had an unpleasant look on her face. She tried to console her, saying, "Sandy, don't overthink it. No matter who you are, we are all a family."

Sandy slightly clenched her fists, and worry flashed in her eyes. "I'm just curious; why did Suzy suddenly ask such a question?" she remarked.

How did she even bring up Cora, and what does she know?

Nora also found it strange, but she still tried to reassure Sandy. "Don't worry, Kenneth already knows your true identity. He is the one you will spend your life with. If he doesn't have a problem with it, then you shouldn't care about what others know," she advised.

'Really, shouldn't I care?' Sandy thought, pursed her lips, and remained silent.

The forgotten reality resurfaced in her mind. 'She's a jinx. After she gives birth to the child, Kenneth will divorce her.'

The thought of separating from Kenneth made her chest feel heavy.

"Are you doubting yourself again?" Seeing the sadness in Sandy's eyes, Nora tightly held her hand.

"Sandy, remember, Kenneth loves you very much, and you have a child together. As long as you love each other, you shouldn't care about other people's opinions," Nora encouraged her, and Sandy nodded slightly.

She decided not to think about it anymore and cherish the time spent with Kenneth now.

As for the future, she would leave him to decide after the child is born.

They entered the cafeteria, where Zephyr had already handed the food box to Evella.

Meanwhile, Evella was taking out the dishes here one by one, feeling delighted to see so many exquisite dishes.

Zephyr also smiled.

As Zephyr noticed Nora and Sandy's arrival, he awkwardly said, "I'll go ahead."

"Dr. Wright, the three of us girls won't be able to finish so many dishes. Why don't you eat with us?" Evella, being impressed by Zephyr's gentle and elegant demeanor, tentatively invited him.

Zephyr glanced at Sandy and Nora. Before he could respond, Nora's mouth moved faster than her thoughts.

"No, we won't eat with him."

Evella looked at Nora with surprise, and said, "Nora, I was asking Dr. Wright. You shouldn't make decisions for him."

Nora felt a bit embarrassed. "Well..." she tried to speak.

"It's okay; I do have other matters to attend to," Zephyr replied. He understood Nora's thoughts naturally, so he refused.

Nora didn't want him to be with Sandy, and of course, he wouldn't put her in a difficult position either.

Evella looked at Zephyr as he walked away, feeling curious, asking, "Nora, why don't you object to Dr. Wright eating with us? Is there some conflict between you two?"

Nora explained, "How could it be, as you said, I am so friendly?"

Evella looked at her and said, "Nora, you actually think you're friendly?"

"Of course," Nora said confidently.

"If there's no conflict, then why didn't you reject my proposal?" Evella wanted to get the answer.

Nora found an excuse and said, "It's girls' chat time, and I didn't want boys to join. Do you prefer talking to him instead?"

Evella thought for a moment and shook her head, "No."

"Then there's no problem," Nora brushed her off.

Evella still felt puzzled, feeling that something was not right.

"The food smells so good. Let's eat already; I'm hungry," Nora said promptly.

Evella's attention was diverted when she saw only a fork and a spoon on the table. She said, "Let me go get some more forks and spoons."

She was about to get up when someone walked over.

"It Looks delicious! Do you mind if I join?" asked Howard, wearing a white V-neck sweater with khaki-colored trousers and a coat casually draped over his arm, looking handsome and elegant.

"Yes, I do," Nora replied.

"No," Evella said. She didn't want to eat with Howard.

Howard glanced at Evella and cleared his throat. "One to one, Sandy. What do you think?"

Sandy was a little absent-minded, but when she heard Howard's words, she perked up and said, "I don't mind."

Howard smiled and sat down next to Evella.

Evella pouted, and complained, "How did you all change so quickly? Just now, you said it's girls' chat time and didn't want boys to join."

Nora laughed, and answered, "Because Howard understands girls' topics."

Evella rolled her eyes helplessly, got up, and said, "I'll go get the forks."

After Howard watched her leave with a smile, he withdrew his gaze.

"What a sumptuous lunch! Kenneth must have prepared it for Sandy, right?" he marveled.

"Yes, so we should all thank Sandy," Nora said.

Sandy smiled and looked at Howard, teasing, "I heard you plan to pursue Evella?"

Howard glanced at Nora, pressed his fist against his lips, and cleared his throat, and said, " Nora, do you never keep a secret?"

He had only confided this idea to Nora.

"We're all family; what's so embarrassing about it?" Nora smiled mischievously, "Besides, Sandy has some relationship experience; maybe she can give you some advice?"

Sandy lightly laughed and nodded, and then Howard became less shy, pleading, "Then please help me."

Watching Evella by the window as she fetched cutlery, Nora casually twirled a strand of hair. "Actually, to win a girl over, there's just one trick," she said.

"What's that?" Howard inquired.

"Persistence," Nora added.

"Persistence?!" Howard seemed puzzled.

"In simple terms, it means not giving up," Nora explained.

Nora said, "Girls like guys who are persistent."

She knew this well. If Aaron hadn't been so relentless and hadn't persisted in pursuing her, they might have been strangers by now.

"Nora, you seem quite experienced. Mr. Gordon must always find ways to be around you," Sandy teased.

Nora agreed inwardly but didn't want to appear too smug.

"Sandy, we're here to help Howard, so don't shift the focus to me. You should come up with some ideas, too," Nora advised.

After a moment of thought, Sandy added, "I think the most important thing is sincerity."

Nora chuckled softly. "Basically, it just requires you to put your heart into it," she explained.

Sandy nodded, and chimed in, "Exactly."
