Chapter 244 When Do We Go Public
Quinn twirled a lock of hair near her ear, "You should probably call-in sick today."
"Why?" he asked.
"Because reporters caught you staying over at my place. I'm worried that if you leave now, they'll ambush you. You should stay home, release a statement, and let everyone send their blessings before you step out again," Quinn said, revealing a string of words.
Baldwin's heart skipped a beat when he heard about being photographed by the reporters. As he was thinking of a solution, he heard Quinn mention releasing a statement.
He was puzzled, "What blessings?"
Quinn looked at him with soft eyes, "Baldwin, you slept with me. Aren't you going to take responsibility for me? We're in a relationship. Shouldn't everyone be happy for us?"
So, she intended to announce to the public that they were now a couple? The joke was getting out of hand.
Baldwin quickly objected, "No, we can't release that."
Quinn's eyes narrowed slightly, and her expression cooled, "Why?"
Caught off guard, Baldwin's eyes flashed with a hint of panic, but he quickly thought on his feet, "My team would never agree to me releasing that kind of statement."
Quinn played with a strand of hair by her ear, "Your agent just called me to ask for a favor, to tell everyone that we're dating."
Baldwin looked astonished.
Seeing the disbelief on his face, Quinn threw her phone at him, "You don't believe me? You can call your agent!"
Baldwin swallowed hard, trying to steady his nerves, and looked around, "Where's my phone?"
"It's dead. I'm charging it for you." Quinn leaned in with a flirtatious smile, "Am I considerate or what?"
Baldwin was not in the mood to banter, "Just get me some clothes!"
Quinn pinched his cheek playfully, "Already bossing me around, and we're not even officially a couple yet? Hold on!"
Watching her get up and leave, Baldwin took a deep breath and called his agent.
The call connected quickly, and he asked impatiently, "Did you tell Quinn to release a press statement saying we're dating?"
The agent confirmed with a simple "Yes."
"I disagree!" Baldwin tried to suppress the frustration rising within, "I'm on the rise in my career. Won't announcing that I have a girlfriend at this time affect my prospects?"
The agent replied, "You're still thinking about prospects? If you had been more careful, you wouldn't have gotten into a fight at the club last night, let alone stayed over at someone else's house!"
Stumped, Baldwin struggled to find words to refute, "Regardless, I disagree with your suggestion."
"You might disagree, but you still have to go along with it."
‘Agent's Serious Advice’
Agent spoke seriously to Baldwin, "I'm telling you this for your own good. It's a fact that you stayed overnight at Quinn’s residence, and if we don't claim that the two of you are dating, what will other people think? You're aware of the rumors about Quinn, and if people misunderstand that she's supporting you financially, do you think your career in show business will survive?"
Baldwin felt a chill in his heart as he absorbed the words. How did things turn into this mess? And if he really released such a statement, how would he explain it to his family?
Meanwhile, at Star River Bay Villa, Nora woke up and instinctively reached for the warmth beside her. The man must have gotten up and out of bed not too long ago. She smiled, stretched lazily, and reached for her phone on the nightstand to check the time. Instead, she found several apps notifying of a trending topic. Curious, she clicked to see the news about Baldwin and Quinn. it showed that they had been photographed together spending the night at Quinn's place!
Nora sat up with a jolt. This could be a disaster, and she worried whether Baldwin's career would suffer.
"What are you spacing out about?" Aaron gently pushed the door open. Seeing Nora staring blankly at her phone, he asked.
Nora looked up at him and quickly said, "Thomas, Baldwin, and Quinn made the news last night, and I'm not sure if it will affect Baldwin's career."
She had been so focused on bringing the two together that she forgot about Baldwin's status as a star. Hopefully, she hadn't caused more harm than good.
Aaron sat on the edge of the bed, his dark eyes narrowing slightly, "Are you worried about him?"
A dangerous aura approached, and Nora chuckled inwardly. "He's just my friend. It's not wrong to care about a friend, right?"
Aaron lifted her chin and kissed it lightly, "It's wrong, Nora, you can only care about me."
Nora, a little amused by his jealousy couldn’t help but be rendered speechless, "…"
She didn't want to debate with Aaron and tried to divert the attention, "I'm going to brush my teeth and wash up. You better go check on Quinn."
Aaron watched her get out of bed and raised an eyebrow, "Nora, you're telling me to call another woman first thing in the morning, and you're not jealous?"
Nora turned and smiled brightly, "I trust you."
Aaron helplessly gave in to her after seeing such a smile, "…"
Taking out his phone, he called Quinn. "You two made the news. Have you seen it?"
"I saw it early this morning," Quinn responded sweetly.
"What are your plans to handle this?" Aaron asked.
"We're preparing to make a statement!"
‘A statement?’ Aaron's eyes narrowed slightly, "What kind of statement?"
"You'll know soon enough. I've got to go!" Quinn giggled and hung up the phone.
Aaron scoffed lightly as he gazed at his phone screen, silently scrolling through Baldwin's studio account. It wasn't long before a statement from Baldwin's studio was released.
"Hello, everyone, I'm Baldwin. I want to thank all the fans and netizens for their concern about Quinn and me. We've known each other for over half a year and are currently dating. Please give us some space for our privacy."
Aaron was speechless. ‘They've made it official! Isn't this moving a bit too fast? It's happening a lot quicker than things with Nora and me!’
At that moment, Nora finished freshening up and came out of the bathroom. "Thomas, did you make the call?"
Aaron snapped back to reality and hummed in affirmation.
"What did Quinn say?" Nora inquired.
Aaron handed her the phone.
Nora looked at the statement with curiosity, and her eyes lit up. "They've made it official! Thomas, I told you they would make it, didn't I?"
‘With the announcement that the two were now openly together. It shouldn't impact Baldwin's career too much.’
Aaron wrapped his arms around her, unconvinced: "Don't get too excited. It might just be a public relations move to counter a crisis."
Celebrities are pros at this. They'll probably announce a breakup soon after.
"Really?" Nora preferred to believe it was true. She would ask the person in question and find out later.
"Nora," Aaron said as he hugged her, his voice low and seductive, with a hint of teasing, "they spend one night together and make an official announcement. We've spent several nights together. when is it our turn to go public?"
Nora glanced at him, meeting his deep, ink-like eyes, and quickly stood up. "Let's go, I'm starving. Time for breakfast."
Aaron was speechless. ‘She sure knows how to change the subject quickly!’
