Chapter 718 Aren't You Supposedly on a Date?
Richard, after watching the video, couldn't help but frown, a hint of doubt flashing in his eyes.
He knew the woman in the video.
It was Rachel.
He remembered that Rachel and Howard's relationship was quite ordinary, but now it had become so cordial.
The smile on Evella's face also faded.
Watching Rachel and Howard laughing heartily in the video, she thought of the Romero family and the Hamilton family, who had once intended to form an alliance, and suddenly felt a heaviness in her chest.
Evella didn't believe that.
But this video was right in front of her.
This was not a stitched-together video, but a real one.
How could Howard and Rachel have gotten so close?
"What can this represent? Is it just my brother and Miss Romero having a meal together?"
Nora, after watching the video, although somewhat surprised that Howard was chatting so warmly with Rachel, still spoke up for Howard.
Joseph looked at Nora, mocking lightly. "Just having a meal, Dr. Smith, they are so intimate, can't you see it? Are you suggesting that only when Dr. Hamilton is caught in bed with her can he be considered unfaithful?"
Joseph's tone was somewhat aggressive.
Nora furrowed her brows, wanting to retort to Joseph but not knowing where to start.
On the side, Evella said, "Joseph, I trust Howard. I'll ask him later what the situation is."
Although feeling a bit stifled, Evella still defended Howard.
Joseph's eyes flashed with displeasure.
"Evella, a man's words are untrustworthy. You don't believe what you see, but you believe Howard's excuses?"
Evella said, "Just like Nora said, he and Miss Romero just had a meal together. Sometimes, when I have dinner with my father and you, we also behave intimately. What's wrong with that?"
Joseph's expression darkened slightly. "That's different. We are close relatives. Are Rachel and Howard also relatives?"
Evella twisted her fingers, silent with her head down.
Joseph continued, "Evella, listen to me, he is not worthy of you. Break up with him."
Upon hearing this, Richard frowned. "Joseph, let's ask Howard first. We're not three-year-olds who can be easily fooled, and I'll wait for his explanation."
Joseph didn't say anything, just a flash of hostility in his eyes.
Nora looked at Evella and squeezed her fingers.
Evella smiled. "You guys sit. I'll go to the kitchen to get the tableware."
She got up and quickly went into the kitchen.
In the kitchen, Howard was busy.
Today, he was wearing a white sweater with light khaki casual pants.
Howard's whole figure looked tall and straight.
Howard was wearing an apron, and under the warm light, he looked less noble than usual but more down-to-earth.
His cooking movements were not very skilled, but you could see his seriousness.
He was earnestly learning to cook, all for a promise made at a dining table.
Evella curled her fingers.
Evella could feel Howard's sincerity towards her. Someone like him shouldn't do that.
After finishing a dish, Howard was about to plate it when he casually glanced and saw Evella standing at the kitchen door, staring at him.
He smiled, putting the dish on the plate, and asked, "Evella, why did you come in? Do you want to help?"
Evella returned to her senses and walked towards Howard.
"Do you need any help?"
Howard held up the freshly cooked dish facing Evella, his long fingers curled up, flicking her smooth forehead.
"Don't look down upon me. Why don't you taste it first? The dish just came out of the pot, and it's hot!"
Howard was making the dish that Evella taught him last night.
Smelling the aroma of the dish, Evella didn't hesitate, opening her mouth.
Howard forked a piece and fed it to Evella.
"How does it taste?"
Watching Evella chew, Howard felt nervous.
After swallowing the food, Evella nodded. "It tastes good."
At her words, Howard smiled, a sense of accomplishment rising in his heart.
"Thanks to my good teacher."
Looking at him, Evella's eyes brightened. "You have a talent for cooking."
Howard's gaze fell on Evella's lips, which were even more appealing after she tasted the food. His Adam's apple rolled slightly.
"Nora said, as long as I infuse my love for you into it, I can make delicious dishes. It's true."
His words were filled with deep affection. Evella met his affectionate gaze, her cheeks flushing.
"You cook. I'll take the tableware out first."
Howard and she had just started dating. Howard shouldn't be dating someone else behind her back.
So that video must have some story behind it.
Hamilton didn't know what Evella was thinking, and he just continued cooking.
Forty minutes later, he finally made six dishes and a soup.
The methods for these dishes were not particularly complicated, and they were quite homely dishes.
Of course, simple as they were, making them delicious still required culinary prowess.
Cooking also depended on talent.
Howard looked at the several dishes he had made, feeling a bit nervous.
Showing off in front of Evella was more nervous than his first time in the operating room.
Howard took a deep breath and carried two plates to the dining room.
"Richard, Evella, dinner's ready."
At this moment, several people were sitting in the living room watching TV.
Because of the video Joseph had thrown out, the atmosphere in the living room was not very good.
Richard didn't beat around the bush and asked directly. "Howard, did you have dinner with Rachel Romero at Whispering Willow Restaurant last night?"
Howard was taken aback. "Yes, Richard, how did you know?"
Before Richard could speak, Joseph sneered. "If you don't want others to know what you're doing, just don't do it in the first place. Dr. Hamilton, can't you see, you're just a hypocritical pseudo-gentleman?"
Upon hearing this, Howard furrowed his brows slightly. "Joseph, I don't know what you're talking about. What did I do to make you judge me like this?"
Joseph tossed his phone onto the coffee table.
"Dr. Hamilton, don't accuse me, see it."
With a puzzled expression, Howard walked to the coffee table and bent down to pick up the phone.
Joseph said, "I heard from Richard that there was a previous intention for an alliance between your family and the Romero family. You rejected Rachel Romero on the surface, but in private, you still had dealings with her, comparing Rachel Romero and Evella to see who is more suitable to be your wife?"
Howard had already opened the video on his phone and watched it.
At this, he furrowed his brows. "I didn't."
"You didn't? Why are you and Rachel so intimate?"
Joseph sneered. "See? Rachel Romero was serving you soup and handing you tissues, laughing so happily. Aren't you obviously in love?"
