Chapter 316 Will You Protect My Children

After Nora placed the last needle, she looked up at her and said, "Mrs. Brown, I like Aaron, and if I'm to marry anyone, it will be him."

Her gaze was as clear and bright as the purest spring water in a mountain brook.

Hollis spoke up, "But Aaron has many enemies. Aren't you afraid of being dragged into his troubles?"

At the thought of a recent near-miss attack, Nora's lips tightened faintly.

"Mrs. Brown, it's a lie to say I'm not afraid, but since I love him, I won't back down because of fear," Nora said with determination.

Hollis looked at her, the steady resolve evident on her face. "Have you thought about your three kids? What if Aaron's enemies come after him, and they end up in danger?"

At the mention of her children, Nora's heart skipped a beat, and the fire within her seemed to be doused bit by bit.

Indeed, she could face any danger herself, but the thought of her children being involved scared her.

There were many reasons why she initially refused Aaron's advances. One major concern was the safety of her three kids.

Over time, Aaron had gradually broken down her defenses with his tender approach, pushing her worries about potential threats to the back of her mind.

But igNorang hazards didn’t mean they ceased to exist.

In that moment, Nora was torn. But when she looked up and met Hollis’s intense gaze, she suppressed the turmoil in her heart.

"Mrs. Brown, life is full of surprises, whether good or bad, I don't dwell on what-ifs. I also trust that Aaron can protect me and the kids."

Despite her worries, in that moment, she wanted to squash any hopes Hollis might have of playing matchmaker between her and Baldwin.

Hollis watched her closely, then fell silent, clearly disheartened. She thought Nora was being foolish and would regret her decision someday.

In Hollis's view, if there was one thing unreliable in the world, it was men.

So, in her mind, sidelining Aaron was for Nora's benefit. Nora would surely understand her motives eventually.

Then, out of nowhere, a jolt of pain struck Hollis’s knee. She gasped, her focus instantly shifting to the sharp sensation.

"Nora, my knee, I think it just hurt," she exclaimed, surprised and pleased at the same time.

The long-absent pain was a sign that feeling was returning to her leg.

Nora smiled. "Mrs. Brown, that's a good sign. It means the treatment is working."

A glimmer of tears shone in Hollis's eyes as she allowed herself a moment of excitement. "Nora, does that mean I might be able to stand up soon?" she asked.

Laughing, Nora replied, "Not just yet, but with how things are going, I'm sure you will."

Hollis nodded vigorously, gratitude filling her voice, "Oh, thank you, Nora. Thank you."

"Don't mention it. I'm looking forward to seeing Quinn take you shopping and dress you up.” Nora chimed in, reminding her of Quinn's role in her recovery.

Imagining such times, a flicker of light passed through Hollis’s eyes, filled with longing and hope.

A thought crossed her mind, and the light in her eyes slowly faded. She lowered her gaze, falling silent.

She wondered, if she rid herself of Aaron, would Quinn still be as eager to please her as she was now?

And why was she even concerned about such a thing? Did she really care for the girl's attention?

She never liked her in the first place, didn’t she?

After waiting for the right moment, Nora went upstairs to remove the IV for Hollis. At that time, Aaron was taking a shower. Nora started a video call to talk to her little one for a bit, and soon, Aaron emerged from the bathroom.

Clad in a black silk robe, he strolled while drying his damp short hair with a white towel. As he walked, his bare solid chest and long legs, exuded an unmistakable masculine aura.

He approached Nora, carrying with him the crisp freshness and warmth of the bathroom.

"Hello, Alex, Billy, Samantha." He greeted the three kids and then casually reached to wrap his arms around Nora.

Quickly standing up to dodge him, Nora protested, "Don't hug me, I'm all sweaty. I need to take a shower first."

"Okay," Aaron said, raising his eyebrows and taking her seat as she left.

Nora looked toward the camera, "Babies, I'm going to take a shower."

"Okay," Alex and Billy chimed in together.

Samantha's voice, sweet and childlike, said, "I kind of miss Mommy's fragrant kisses!"

Nora's heart melted, and she blew her a kiss. "Catch this."

Samantha giggled, "Go take a shower, Mommy, and after you're all fresh and fragrant, you and Daddy hurry up and make a little brother and sister, so you can come back and give me real kisses!"

Nora nearly stumbled, flabbergasted.

Was she here for work or just to make little ones? Who had been teaching these things to this little girl?!

Feigning anger, Nora glared at Aaron, "Don't fill the kids' minds with bad ideas."

Caught off guard, Aaron looked at the three innocently and asked, "Did I teach you any bad ideas?"

The three kids exchanged looks.

Alex commented, "Uncle Gordon, just remember one thing, never argue with Mommy."

Billy added, "That's right, Mommy is always right."

Samantha piped up, "And if Mommy is wrong, Daddy should refer to the first rule."

Aaron was speechless.

Looking at the three clever rascals, what ideas did he need to inject? They were already too smart for their own good!

Nora couldn't help but laugh.

They were indeed her children, and she loved them dearly.

"Ok my loves, I'm off to shower," she greeted the three little ones again before heading into the bathroom for a comfortably warm shower.

When she finished and came out, she saw Aaron seated on the bed, engrossed in work on his tablet under the soft glow of the bedside lamp. The light accentuated his handsome features, making him look especially captivating.

"Done with your shower?" he asked.

She nodded.

"Come here, let me dry your hair for you," Aaron said, setting his tablet aside.

Nora didn’t protest and sat down next to him, handing over the hair dryer.

Aaron turned on the hair dryer and began to work through her soft, shiny locks that had never been touched by dye or perm. Her hair could be featured in a shampoo commercial for its natural luster. He enjoyed the silky touch of her hair; it felt just like her—pleasing to the touch and uplifting to his mood.

Once her hair was dry, he admired her beautiful face and the rosy hue of her lips. His gaze slowly drifted down to take in the gentle rise and fall of her chest, and a shadow darkened in Aaron's eyes.

Words were unnecessary in the heat of spring's embrace. He reached for her delicate chin, tilting his head to capture her lips with his.

Nora dodged the kiss, asking, "When are you leaving?"

"Are you trying to get rid of me?" Aaron's voice was husky.

"You have work to attend to, don’t you?" Nora's eyes shimmered with emotion.

He had come here because of the incident with the news. Now that it had all cleared up, he should get back to his own business.

"Yes, but work isn’t as important as my girlfriend!" Aaron pulled her close and pecked her lips gently.

Nora laughed and said, "Cut the sweet talk; I'm no seductress."

"No, you're a bona fide Master Healer," he agreed.

Inhaling her inviting scent, Aaron gently pushed her onto the bed.

Nora, amused, looked into his handsome eyes and repeated, "Seriously, when are you leaving?"

"I’ll leave after the Remington family banquet," Aaron replied.

Nora was taken aback. "The Remington family is holding a banquet, and you’re attending?"

Aaron raised an eyebrow. "You don't want me to go?"

She replied, "It's your choice whether you go or not."

"Of course, I'm going! I have to look after my woman." With that, Aaron leaned in to kiss her lips once more.

Nora’s fair hands pressed against his lips to stop him.

"Aaron, will you keep my children safe?" she asked.
