Chapter 874 The Only Fun Was Gone

Mateo put on a hurt expression and said, "Nora, why are you so tough on me the moment Mr. Gordon shows up? I'm still recovering here. Shouldn't you be keeping me happy so I can get better faster? How am I supposed to stay cheerful if you're always scolding me?"

Nora tried to look stern. "If you talk less, you'll live longer."

Mateo gave her puppy-dog eyes. "Nora, what are you so worried about? Are you afraid Mr. Gordon might get the wrong idea? We didn't do anything. You just saw me naked while treating me, made me some soup, and chatted with me a bit."

With each word Mateo said, Aaron's expression grew colder.

Nora felt a shiver run down her spine and wished she could sew Mateo's mouth shut.

Aaron's icy voice cut through the tension.

"Is this amusing to you?"

Nora turned to Aaron and saw a hint of mockery in his brown eyes as he stared at Mateo.

"Prince Mateo, you're still as childish as ever. Do you think saying this will drive a wedge between me and my wife? You're wrong. It only makes me love her more! Because she's so amazing and attractive."

As he spoke, Aaron gently brushed Nora's hair and then tenderly lifted her chin.

"Honey, I love you."

In front of Mateo, Aaron kissed her.

It was a deep, lingering kiss.

The smile on Mateo's face slowly disappeared.

He glared at the embracing Aaron and Nora, his fingers clenching tightly, his chest heaving.

The emotional agitation made Mateo cough uncontrollably.

Nora, with her eyes closed, instinctively tried to pull away, but Aaron held her tight, not letting her move.

Aaron's lips left hers lightly, and he looked at Mateo with a cold gaze.

"Prince Mateo, stop pretending to be pitiful. From now on, let my wife's student handle your check-ups."

With that, Aaron took Nora out of the room and called Seraphina to check on Mateo.

Listening to the sounds outside, Mateo barely calmed himself and sighed inwardly.

He thought, 'Aaron came back so early.'

'Now, my only bit of fun is gone!'

'Not only is the fun gone, but I also have to watch them flaunt their love.'

'So frustrating.'

Outside, Aaron asked Nora, "Where's your room? I need to put down my luggage."

Nora knew Aaron probably wanted to settle accounts behind closed doors, and she felt a headache coming on.

Having a jealous husband could be quite frustrating sometimes.

She led Aaron to the guest room she was staying in on the third floor.

As soon as the door closed, Nora was pinned against it.

"Saw him naked?" Aaron's tone carried a hint of danger.

Nora looked innocent, her hand touching Aaron's chest in a placating manner.

"Honey, are you jealous again? I'm a doctor. When performing surgery, patients have to undress. To me, he's no different from an animal."

Aaron gazed into her clear eyes, still not appeased.

"You even made him soup?"

Nora said, "I didn't make the soup specifically for him. I just made some, and everyone had some."

Aaron's fingers gently played with her hair and her soft earlobe.

"I've never enjoyed such treatment."

Nora felt a bit ticklish and hugged Aaron's waist for support.

"But I remembered that when you stayed at my house, I made breakfast for you every day?"

Aaron looked at Nora, his tone filled with grievance.

"That breakfast wasn't made specifically for me. It was for our kids, and I just happened to benefit."

Nora chuckled, standing on tiptoe to kiss his lips.

"Alright, don't be jealous. When we get back, I'll make breakfast for you every day."

Aaron's eyes darkened a bit. "I don't want you to wear yourself out."

Nora smiled and kissed him again. "I know you love me the most."

Aaron said, "Stop buttering me up. You even chatted with him for half a day?"

Nora replied, "Come on, he's Prince Mateo. When King Tomas handed him over to us, we had to be a bit accommodating, right?"

Aaron snorted, "So what if it's King Tomas? Do we have to bend over backward for them?"

Nora laughed, shaking his hand. "Alright, I only chatted with him for a little while. Now that you're here, if he wants to chat again, you can go instead, okay?"

Aaron gazed at her without speaking.

Nora pinched his face. "Smile!"

Aaron said, "Console me."

Nora sighed. Fine! She had to coax her Aaron properly. She stood on tiptoe to kiss him.

Aaron's hand around her waist tightened, pulling her closer and deepening the kiss.

Nora felt his passion and tried to pull away. "Stop it, we're in the manor. It's almost time for dinner, aren't you hungry?"

"Yes, hungry for you."

Nora was speechless.

At that moment, there was a knock on the door.

Nora quickly pushed Aaron away. "Who is it?"

"Mr. Gordon, Mrs. Gordon, Mr. Rochet is back. Please come down for dinner."

It was Frederick calling them.

"Okay, we'll be right down."

Nora pushed Aaron. "Alright, let's go down for dinner."

Aaron straightened her clothes and then opened the door.

Frederick was standing at the door. Aaron glanced at him, his gaze heavy. "I asked you to protect Nora, and this is how you do it?"

Frederick was taken aback, thinking Aaron was blaming him for almost letting the men in black harm Nora. He quickly apologized, "I'm sorry."

Nora was displeased. "Frederick protected me very well. If it weren't for his quick thinking, realizing the men in black were a threat and getting me out in time, I might have been killed by them."

Aaron said, "That's not what I meant."

Nora was puzzled. "Then what do you mean?"

Aaron's gaze was intense. "Frederick, Mateo is a man. You let Nora stay alone in a room with him?"

Frederick was stunned and then understood. Aaron was jealous! "I'm sorry, that was my mistake."

Nora was speechless. "Aaron, why are you blaming Frederick? Don't you know how loyal your two subordinates are?"

Aaron looked at her and asked, "Are they?"

Nora said, "Yesterday morning, they both took it upon themselves to serve Prince Mateo soup and tell him about my romantic history!"

Aaron was taken aback, then laughed. "Really? What did they say?"

Nora glared at him. "What else coud thet talk? They talked about how we met and how many suitors I had. In short, they wanted Prince Mateo to back off!"

Aaron's expression improved. "That must have been Noe's idea, right?"

"Yes, one kept watch while the other told Prince Mateo stories."

Aaron glanced at Frederick and said deliberately, "Noe is indeed clever."

Frederick kept his head down, listening to the reprimand without a word.

Aaron said, "Next time I'm not around, don't let Nora be alone with him."

"Yes, sir."

Nora rolled her eyes at Aaron and then pulled Frederick. "Frederick, don't mind him. Let's go eat."

Frederick looked at Nora's outstretched hand, his heart trembling, feeling as if Aaron's gaze was burning his hand. Frederick quickly stepped aside. "Mr. Gordon, Mrs. Gordon, please."
