Chapter 706 Even if he is his love rival
Several people left the woods, and Howard learned that Joseph had an accident, so he hurried to the scene with them.
They saw a large gap in the protective fence on one side, and Joseph's car disappeared.
The surrounding area was cordoned off, and several police officers were investigating something.
Richard strode over to negotiate with the officers.
Thinking of Joseph's final determination and confession, Evella covered her mouth to hold back her tears.
Howard glanced at her, hugged her, and gently patted her back to comfort her silently.
Evella leaned against his chest and choked up. "Joseph sacrificed himself to ensure the safety of me and Richard, diverting the gang of thugs."
Howard patted her back, and he paused slightly, feeling a sense of admiration.
A person's character was most evident in times of crisis.
It seemed that Joseph was a genuinely good man.
No wonder Richard was biased towards him and wanted Evella to marry him.
Looking at the calm sea, Howard silently prayed, hoping that Joseph was safe.
Because if something happened to Joseph, Evella would feel guilty for a lifetime.
He didn't want Evella to keep Joseph in her heart forever, not even out of guilt.
Thinking, Howard comforted. "Evella, don't worry. When we get back, I'll tell Nora to help search for information on the Jones' intel network to find out Joseph's whereabouts. I believe we'll have news soon."
Evella's face still had tears on it. Upon hearing this, she nodded eagerly. "Let's go back quickly."
"Okay."
Howard agreed and looked towards Richard, who was not far away.
At this moment, Richard finished talking with the traffic police and stood blankly at the edge of the cliff, staring into the endless sea.
Evella walked over, sniffing, and pulled him. "Richard, let's go back and ask Nora to help find Joseph."
Upon hearing this, Richard made an effort to pull himself together and nodded.
He first called his subordinates, who were on their way, to search for Joseph's whereabouts in the surrounding sea area while he and Evella went back to find Nora.
After boarding the plane, Howard poured a cup of water for Richard and Evella.
Evella took the cup of water and noticed that Howard's arm was bleeding.
She was startled, put down the cup, and grabbed Howard's hand. "How did you get injured?"
Howard glanced down and realized that the blister he accidentally burst while hugging Evella had caused the bleeding.
"It's just a minor injury, nothing serious," Howard reassured.
"Is there a first aid kit on the plane?" Evella asked.
"Yes."
Howard glanced at the bodyguard, who understood and brought the first aid kit from the cabin.
Evella opened it, took out some medicine, such as iodine, and began applying it to Howard's wound.
When the medicine touched his arm, it stung sharply.
Howard's muscles tensed instantly.
Evella noticed and looked up at him, full of pity. "Does it hurt?"
Howard smiled. "It's fine."
Knowing he was trying to comfort her, Evella said softly, "Bear with it, I'll be gentler."
"Okay," Howard responded.
Howard watched Evella's focused expression, his gaze falling on his wound, feeling a bit emotional.
He had originally been focused on learning to cook and comparing himself to Joseph.
Now, he might not even need to continue learning to cook.
He hoped Joseph would come back safely.
Even if he became his love rival, he didn't mind.
The thought flashed through his mind, and Howard was taken aback, quickly stopping himself.
What was he thinking?
God must have just fallen asleep and didn't hear his thoughts!
In Lindwood City, after the banquet dispersed, a group of people went back to the Hamilton's manor.
Alex and Erin stayed at the Gordon Manor and did not return.
Archer arrived and waited for news from them.
Soon, Howard arrived at the Gordon Manor with Richard and Evella.
The group of people stood up to greet them.
Archer approached the two of them, greeted Richard first, and then looked at Evella with concern.
"Evella, are you okay?"
"I'm fine. But Joseph had an accident. His car fell into the sea, and now he's missing." Evella's eyes were still red.
The people present all looked solemn.
Howard looked at Nora. "Nora, can you ask the Jones' intel agency for help to find Joseph's whereabouts?"
Upon hearing this, Nora did not hesitate and looked at Alex and Erin.
"Alex, Erin, can you help?"
"Of course, Mom."
Without saying a word, Alex immediately made a phone call to have the intelligence agency start searching.
Listening to his serious and commanding tone, Richard smiled gratefully.
"I won't forget your great kindness," Richard said.
"Richard, we're friends. It's simply what friends do for each other," Aaron said.
Richard nodded slightly, not in the mood to say much at the moment.
Archer took Evella's arm and said, "Ken, Howard, I'll take Evella back to rest first."
"Okay."
"Then I'll leave first." Richard prepared to take his leave.
"Howard, you can see them off," Kenneth said to Howard.
"Sure."
Howard escorted them to the car.
After they left, Aaron prepared to take Nora back to Whispering Pines Manor.
Emma frowned. "Aaron, your house has had other people living in it, don't you find it awkward?"
"I've taken care of it. The furnishings in the house have all been changed. It's like a new renovation," Aaron replied.
Emma hesitated to speak.
Ebenezer, who was nearby, knew what Emma was thinking. She was reluctant to see Nora leave.
"Alright, don't bother the young couple. Don't you want to be a grandmother again?"
The implication was to let Nora and Aaron go back and have children so she could be a grandmother again.
Emma glanced at him. "I already have several grandchildren, and I don't care if I become a grandmother again."
Ebenezer nodded slowly. "It seems like you don't want to be fully involved in the birth of your fourth grandchild."
Emma's heart skipped a beat, and then she glared at him.
"Now you're being tactful. Why not just scold me directly?"
Emma wasn't foolish; she knew Ebenezer was deliberately provoking her.
He used to be straightforward in his speech, not beating around the bush like this.
"When have I ever scolded you?" Ebenezer was speechless.
"You often scold me." Emma retorted.
Ebenezer couldn't be bothered to argue with her and said, "I'm about to become a grandfather again, I need to leave a good impression on the younger generation."
Nora was speechless.
It sounded like she was already pregnant!
Feeling Aaron's arm around her waist, she was pulled close.
"Let's go."
Aaron's eyes were deep, showing a hint of affection.
Nora responded and went back to Whispering Pines Manor with him.
This was her first time returning here since finding Aaron.
The furnishings inside had all been changed.
Each piece of decor exuded a subtle luxury as before.
As soon as they entered, Aaron passionately kissed Nora against the door.
