Chapter 729 She is His Light

Nora leaned against Aaron's side, listening to the two of them chatting and laughing, feeling interested.

"Why did you stop talking?"

Aaron lowered his gaze to Nora and hugged her slightly.

"Honey, should we go get our marriage certificate first?"

Edric provoked him.

Nora's beautiful eyes curved as she teased. "Why do you bring this up? Are you afraid I'll run away?"

"Of course, my fiancée is so beautiful, I'm definitely afraid." Aaron nodded seriously.

"Don't worry, with your long legs, even if I run, you can catch up." Nora playfully smiled.

Aaron pinched Nora's nose. "You dare to leave me?"

Uncomfortable, Nora pushed away his hand. "So what? Break my legs?"

Aaron held her tightly. "No, I'm afraid of embarrassing myself."

Nora asked, "Why?"

Aaron replied, "If you leave, I'll have to find a way to get you back. Coaxing or kneeling. If I have to kneel and beg, it's definitely embarrassing."

Nora chuckled. "Your imagination goes really far."

Aaron gazed at her rosy lips and leaned in to kiss her.

"So, shall we go get our marriage license first?" Aaron's deep voice carried a hint of allure.

Nora's heart softened.

"I need to find a way to make an antidote for Joseph in the next few days, and we can talk about it when we have time."

Anyway, she couldn't run away. Her body and heart belonged to Aaron.

"My dad's birthday is next week. We'll take the kids back home, and then we'll go get our marriage license."

Aaron's voice rose at the end, his slender fingers stroking her shiny hair.

Nora blinked, thinking of the Gordon family.

After Jeffery had found out that Alex, Billy, and Samantha were on the Gordon family bloodline, he had yet to express his stance.

Would he oppose her being with Aaron?

"Aaron, does your mom still not like me?"

Thinking of Jeffrey, Aaron's smile faded slightly.

"You're the heiress of the Hamilton family, and you've added three children to the Gordon family all at once. What's there for her to be dissatisfied with? Besides, even if she's not happy, you don't have to care. Who I marry is my business."

Sensing Aaron's displeasure, Nora straightened slightly.

"What's wrong with you? You seem a bit off. Did your mom say something to you?"

Aaron pursed his lips slightly.

"No, she hasn't had time to bother about my affairs lately."

"Why?"

"She and my dad argue all the time, and she's been living in my grandparents' house."

Nora blinked. "Why do they argue?"

"One likes the romantic life, and the other was stubborn with her own opinion. They're bound to argue when they're together."

A hint of mockery flashed in Aaron's eyes.

Nora wasn't very familiar with Aaron's father, but she had a strong impression of Jeffrey.

Jeffrey's character was indeed not very likable, not a woman with much tact.

If Jeffrey had tact, she wouldn't have argued with Caden, who liked romance.

And Jeffrey's aggressive personality had nothing to do with romance.

It was a miracle that two people with such different personalities as Jeffrey and Caden hadn't divorced.

"As far back as I can remember, my parents have always argued, sometimes that they could start a figh over a casual remark."

Aaron probably recalled the past and began to talk about it.

"I remember when I was young and naive, I tried to mediate between them when they argued. Then my mom cried and told me it was because of me that she suffered in this family. And my dad retorted, saying it was because of me that he had to reluctantly marry her."

"In their eyes, I wasn't the product of their love but their burden and trouble. At one point, I became quiet and stopped talking, and my temper became much more irritable. Later, my grandfather noticed something was wrong with my personality, so he took me to the Gordon Manor and personally raised me."

Aaron looked at her and told his story.

Nora leaned against Aaron's chest, listening to his gentle voice, feeling a sense of pity.

She could almost imagine that scene.

In a huge room, Jeffrey and Caden argued back and forth.

Aaron, a small figure, tried to persuade them to stop fighting.

Both adults vented their anger at the innocent Aaron, saying heart-wrenching words to him.

The light in Aaron's eyes dimmed little by little.

Nora's heart inexplicably tightened, and she couldn't help but hold Aaron's strong waist tightly.

Truly, an unfortunate childhood took a lifetime to heal.

To outsiders, Aaron seemed bright and shining, but no one would know that he also had many unseen wounds.

Jeffrey and Caden were truly selfish.

To give birth but not raise him, they didn't deserve to be parents.

"As I grew older, the concept of marriage held no appeal for me. Before you came into my life, the thought of matrimony never crossed my mind. I saw no advantages in it - a daily bout of disagreements with your partner. It's better to grow old alone." Aaron's lips parted slightly, continuing his heartfelt confession.

Aaron lowered his gaze, looking at Nora's upturned face, a hint of tenderness in his eyes.

"Until I saw you living with the children, so warm and sweet, my heart was slowly softened by you and the children."

"I've come to realize that not all families mirror mine - cold, self-centered, riddled with emotional torment. It turns out the family atmosphere can be so warm that members can just sit together and laugh all day without doing anything!"

"Nora, you and the children are the light of my life. You illuminate me, warm me, and make me realize how beautiful the world can be!"

"Once you've seen the sun, you won't want to go back to the darkness. Nora, promise me that you will always hold my hand, and never let go of me!"

Aaron tightened his grip on Nora's hand, his deep black eyes full of affection.

For some reason, Nora's eyes felt a bit sore, her eye sockets turning red.

She didn't know if it was out of pity for Aaron or if he moved her.

She sniffed. "Why are you suddenly so sentimental? I didn't say I wouldn't get a marriage license with you!"

Aaron laughed, his slender fingers wiping away the tears from Nora's eyes. He lifted her onto his lap and kissed her hair.

"You agreed?"

"I've been yours for a long time,"Nora muttered.

Aaron laughed again, holding Nora tightly, smelling the familiar and pleasant fragrance on her.

Aaron was lucky to find his light.

Streaks of wandering light from the window illuminated the endearing tableau of their embrace.
