Chapter 94 Men Are All the Same

Faced with Aaron's provocation, Gayle forced a sheepish smile.

"Mr. Gordon, don't joke around. You know the deal's importance; it's not something to gamble over."

"So, Mr. Gayle, do you believe the business deal is more important than the lady's health?" Nora interjected.

Caught off guard, Gayle retorted angrily, "Nora, don't twist my words. That's not what I mean."

Nora simply smiled her composure, a stark contrast to Gayle's flustered fury.

Aaron chuckled, looking at Nora with tender admiration.

Such a clever and quick-witted woman.

Agitation filled Gayle's eyes as he hurriedly explained to Mr. Smith, "Mr. Smith, don't let them stir up trouble. Of course, the lady's health is my top priority."

The Smith couple was widely recognized as a paragon of marital harmony.

Nora's instigation was masterful.

Mr. Smith was no fool either.

He glanced at Aaron with a meaningful look. "Mr. Gordon, your new secretary is quite eloquent."

Aaron raised his eyebrows. "I think so too."

Nora stayed quiet, standing by Aaron's side.

Gayle, realizing he was at a disadvantage, quickly changed the subject.

"Mr. Smith, it's about time for dinner. Why don't we continue our conversation over the meal?"

Smith nodded in agreement. "Sure, let's all sit together."

Aaron chuckled, "Great. Mr. Gayle, I hope you don't mind if we join you?"

Gayle was inwardly seething, wishing he could kick these people out of Bescosarst on the spot.

However, he couldn't let it show on his face.

"Of course, guests are always welcome."

The group made their way to a VIP suite in the hotel.

Soon after, Gayle's assistant walked in with a tall, captivating woman who radiated charm.

With shoulder-length wavy hair and a face delicately made up, she exuded a classic beauty.

Her figure was the epitome of feminine allure.

Even Smith, a man, couldn’t help but be envious.

“Mr. Smith, let me introduce you. This is Finn, the PR manager of my company. And this is the esteemed Mr. Smith. You’ll have the pleasure of his company this evening,” Gayle said, bringing Finn over to Smith and facilitating introductions.

Finn offered Smith a dazzling smile and extended her hand. "Pleased to meet you, Mr. Smith. Your reputation precedes you, and you are every bit the noble gentleman Mr. Gayle described."

No man could resist such flattery from a beautiful woman.

Smith beamed, shook Finn's hand warmly, and humbly replied, "You're too kind."

Finn smiled subtly. She took a seat beside him, and gracefully poured him some tea.

Gayle looked quite satisfied with the interaction and shot Aaron a provocative glance.

Gayle knew the unspoken rules of the adult world.

Even though Mr. and Mrs. Smith were known for their loving relationship, he knew men understood each other.

Therefore, he assumed Aaron had brought a female secretary, likely aiming to seduce.

So Gayle had his assistant call in their best PR woman.

It was a game of tactics.

Aaron, understanding Gayle's strategy, remained cool and collected.

Securing the deal was a matter of skill.

Besides, Aaron and Smith had collaborated multiple times before, and Smith wasn't one to be swayed by mere attraction.

"Waiter, bring the drinks," Gayle signaled.

The waiter proceeded to serve drinks to each person seated.

When it came to Aaron, Nora intervened.

"He doesn't drink. Please bring him some juice instead."

Everyone turned to look at her, and Gayle's smile held a sly edge. "Nora, is this your concern as well? Not drinking at a business gathering might seem to imply Mr. Gordon isn't fully committed."

Nora's expression remained calm and collected. "Mr. Gordon is currently undergoing treatment and should avoid alcohol. Mr. Smith seems like an understanding man; I'm sure he will respect that."

Mr. Smith might take it as being petty if he were to get upset over that comment.

Smith couldn't help but laugh. "Mr. Gordon, you have quite the secretary."

Aaron glanced at Nora, smiling with his eyes. "Indeed, I'm fortunate to have her on board."
Nora gracefully accepted his compliment and poured him a glass of juice.

As she was about to pour some for herself, Finn, following Gayle's unspoken cue, gracefully got up and approached Nora.
"Nora, Mr. Gordon can't drink because of his health, but you're in good shape, right? Without a drink, it just kills the vibe."
Without waiting for a response, she took Nora's glass and filled it with liquor.

Aaron's expression cooled at the sight.
"Her health is fine, but she can't drink either; she has to treat me later."

Finn giggled, "Is Nora so capable that she even treating Mr. Gordon's leg ailment? Since it's rare for you to visit Bescosarst, why not stay a day for treatment? This reluctance, it's like you're showing respect at all."

"Yeah, Mr. Gordon, didn't you come to Bescosarst to meet Mr. Smith? Shouldn't you be preparing in advance, enjoying some good food and fun with Mr. Smith? Or do you think you're the business titan who doesn't need to regard anyone?"

Gayle chimed in smoothly, dripping with provocation.

Aaron's face grew colder, but before he could respond, Nora's voice chimed in.
"Mr. Gayle, with Mr. Gordon's current status, he truly doesn't need to keep anyone in mind. But he has great respect for Mr. Smith. Otherwise, he wouldn't have rushed here the moment he knew Mr. Smith was in Bescosarst without any time to prepare."

Her response silenced Gayle and Finn.

Smith looked at Nora, a glint of appreciation in his eyes.
"Nora sure has a way with words; I believe she would get along wonderfully with my wife."

Hearing this, Nora knew that Gayle's attempt at stirring conflict had failed.

She could have taken the chance not to drink, but after a moment's thought, she stood up.
"Mr. Smith, since Mr. Gordon can't drink, how about I drink on his behalf."

Her gesture spoke volumes of her magnanimity and won their side a wave of goodwill.

Mr. Smith was pleased, rising to clink glasses with her.

Gayle watched the scene with a chilly look in his eyes.

He gave Finn a significant glance, a silent command to pull out all the stops and turn the situation around.

Finn did not dare to slack off, returning to her seat to start a conversation with Smith.
Aaron's thoughts were wholly consumed by Nora as he sat across from her. He hadn't expected her to be not only quick-witted but also so aware of the bigger picture.

How could anyone resist being charmed by such a smart woman?

Worry shadowed his gaze when he saw her down a glass of liquor in one go.

"Can you handle your liquor?" he asked with a hint of concern.

Nora took a bite of her food and shook her head. "I don't know."

She usually didn't drink. The last time had been at a wedding four years ago, and even then, she had no idea how much it took to get her drunk.

As Aaron served her more food, he said gently, "You don't need to drink for me. Just enjoy your meal."

Nora flashed him a playful smile. "No worries. I've got to earn my keep as your secretary, right? With all the effort I'm putting in, you'll surely give me a little extra, won't you?"
